The Gospel comes to us even on the net. Thank you for the beautiful history of this hymn and it's writer. These hymn writers could not pen these hymns unless they were in the joy of Eternal Life.
I forgot about this song and I reallly liked it as I was growing up. This is about the 4th or 5th story behind the hym Ive listend to today, Ive never known or really thought much about there being stories behind these hymns. Im so thankful that I ran into this history on you tube. Each story is such a blessing and a Testimoney about the Love of Jesus! ❤
Thank you pastor for your concise gospel presentation in this video. The word wretch truly sums up who we are without truly knowing Christ of the Bible the fully God and fully man who walk this earth being sinless in order to be the greatest sacrifice this world has ever or will ever know. He was obedient up to death to the Father in order to be our one and only Redeemer and the only way to heaven is through His mighty blood He shed upon that cursed tree. Thank you Jesus for saving a truly wretched and dead man such as me. Now I walk with Him who not only died for me but lived for me so I can be see by God the Father as righteous even though I’m a wicked, wretched sinner saved by grace.
Thankyou for this story. This is one of my favorite hymns. This hymn is very close to my heart as I know the only chance I have is under the blood of Christ.
I like the song Victory in Jesus, but there's one line that absolutely DOES NOT line up with the bible.......This line is : "I repented of my sin and won the victory". This line in the song actually puts focus on what WE do instead of the finished work on the cross by Jesus. We win the victory once we believe the death burial ,and resurrection of Jesus and we call on Him to save us.We will ALWAYS be sinners until the day that we are made like Him, glorified, incorruptible.
The song blesses my heart every since I was young!

Wow! A blessing to hear this testimony an history. I just used this song in a intergenerational worship time and they were blessed.
God reminded me of this hymn recently and I sing it as I proclaim His promises. Thank you for taking the time to share the story behind the words.

My pastor Larry Bartlett’s grandfather wrote this song.
It is still my favorite song of all time. Secular or otherwise. I can not sing however before I break down in sobs and tears.
it is a victory to have in Jesus
Our Methodist church still uses it from time to time.

What if he didn’t repent?
@brad renfroe This is a good discussion to have rather than the passing glory of this world
20-30 years? Actually longer.
