As I write this, I find myself crying. I cannot help but cry. It reaches down deep inside me, reminding me that I am a wrenched,, sinful man, unworthy of God's mercy, love, compassion and forgiveness, knowing that I could never ever be worthy.. This is one of the most wonderfully moving piece of music has ever been written.

You are certainly not the only one.
I have watched an amateur singer in front of a theatre bring lumps to their throats and tears to many of the eyes.
They mostly lived comfortable lives but, they understood.

I am in agreement with your comment, "I am a great sinner and Christ is a great Savior" ... quoting John Newton as illustrated by the following prayer using caps as emphasis to help others find THE WAY AT GOD'S MERCY.
On a balcony of space STEPPED A PURE AND HOLY GOD. IN AWESOME SOLITUDE YOU STOOD ALONE. Not one faint star to give YOU light; just endless darkness, it was blackest night. But somehow in the darkness YOU COULD SEE.
YOU SAW mountains high and lofty, YOU SAW valleys lush and green. YOU SAW babbling brooks, and wildflowers grow, YOU EVEN HEARD a robin sing. Then through YOUR COMPASSION STANDING OUT THERE IN YOUR TOMORROW, YOU SAW forum's visitors, their families and friends. 🥰
YOU SAW them as sinners (missing the mark resulting in their weaknesses prevailing causing guilt of wrong doing) because there is no intrinsic righteousness in any of us due to Adam’s sin. YOU SAW them as they grew from a baby into adulthood due to YOUR HANDS OF MERCY. 🥰 YOU SAW them pursuing a career path for the purpose of obtaining the gains of the world not realizing that it is a loss compared to what YOU DID on the cross. YOU SAW them working long and laboring hard to receive the grace by justification even though YOU stated, "This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent."(John 6:29 KJV) YOU SAW the unwillingness to accept YOUR PLAN OF SALVATION THROUGH YOUR SON JESUS CHRIST. YOU SAW them living with the guilt of committing crimes to the heart. YOU SAW them enduring personal crisis. YOU SAW the weight of the burden on their hearts with each tribulation. YOU SAW them seeking comfort from the above mentioned topography, ONE OF THE MANY MARVELS YOUR PERFECT HANDS HAVE MADE. 👏🏻👏🏾👏🏻👏🏾👏🏻👏🏾 YOU SAW their worries about tomorrow.
If their hearts were a window that they could look through, oh the pains and scars they would see. What a cruel fate the skin gives as a mask to the inward pain. But the skin couldn’t cover THE SUFFERING YOUR ONE AND ONLY SON BORED on the cross as PAYMENT for all our sins because HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS ALONE HAD THE MERIT TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF YOUR HOLINESS. Indeed, ONLY HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS IS SUFFICIENT TO SAVE us from this present evil world as evidenced by Mary's song of praise. "And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour." (Luke 1:46-47 KJV) Awesome thanks to YOUR GREAT PARDON for being easy on the heart. 🥰
They have seen a lot of crazy things done in YOUR NAME. For example, the father of lies futile attempts to make crooked the right ways of the LORD to turn people away from faith in the WORKS OF JESUS CHRIST ALONE. How can anyone bear the thought of his or her life story detracting from the GLORY AND HONOR KNOWN TO BELONG TO CHRIST ALONE? As a consequence, YOU ARE A MYSTERY OF GREAT MYSTERY to them. Despite this conviction, YOU ARE MINDFUL of them as evidenced by the fact that YOUR JUDGEMENT is not speedy, allowing them to pursue the desires of the flesh.
They are aware of hypocrisy in religious assemblies that like to be seen and heard. In addition, secular education teaches that there is no right and wrong, if GOD exists there is no way of relating to HIM, and moral standards shift according to the whims of fashion. Therefore, their minds are conditioned to question everything this world has to offer including “THY POWER THROUGHOUT THE UNIVERSE DISPLAYED.” They have accepted the heavy burden of dealing with the troubles of this life and seek to know another way, YOU THE GREAT COMFORTER TO ALL who did receive YOU as their personal SAVIOR. Still, YOU have shown them NEW MERCY every day with each thought they make and each breath they take.
Unfortunately, like the prodigal son, we are all guilty of wandering far from YOU LORD because the negative experiences of our lives tend to build roadblocks to the TRUTH. As time marches on, JESUS CHRIST HELP them to identify the way, truth, and eternal life (that is YOU). Since to know and follow your SPIRIT is more exciting than any 007 movies, and YOU DELIGHT MAKING the ordinary into extraordinary. As time marches on, JESUS CHRIST MAKE them understand that there is no way around YOUR TRUTH, and that there is something about YOUR NAME. As time marches on, JESUS CHRIST HELP them defeat in their minds what is false in YOUR EYES.
LORD GUIDE their thoughts to know that the path of sin is hard on their hearts for the purpose of crying out to YOU to know the joy, peace of having the heavy burden LIFTED by THE GOD OF PEACE I AM, and ANCHOR their souls in THE HAVEN OF REST. In other words, LORD use the storms in their lives to get a hold of them to trust YOU and believe. In truth, YOU ARE THE JOY that seekest them through pain.
LORD HELP their fainting hearts to believe that YOU, who was slain on the cross over 2000 years ago has the POWER TO CHANGE lives today through the INSTANTANEOUS GREAT FAVOR from GOD to the house of Israel made known in believers by YOU to make YOUR NAME EVERLASTING. 🥰 For as the statue liberates the citizens so the cross liberates the soul. ONLY YOU can calm the trouble waters of the mind when one admits to wanting salvation from one’s sinful nature, JESUS IS LORD, and believes in the heart that GOD RAISED HIM from the dead TO LIFT the heavy burden of sin's guilt away from the heart in accordance to YOUR WORD found in Psalm 51:1-10 KJV. 👏🏻👏🏾👏🏻👏🏾👏🏻👏🏾 O, the wonder of it all to experience within the flesh the feeling of a tree being cut back/pruned in order for it to grow stronger and more beautiful after meditating on the words of said Psalm. 🥰🙌🏻🙌🏾
LORD MAKE them know that ONLY YOUR HOLY SPIRIT, through the experience of a new birth within believers, can prevent the family circle from being broken because THE HOPE OF ETERNAL LIFE YOU HAVE GRANTED means a chapter of their lives is decided. Creation sings the rebirth song for them yearly, through YOUR PROMISE of springtime, giving rise to the idea that by the mention of YOUR NAME flowers grow, and the desert blooms again. 🥰
LORD GUIDE their understanding of words to use to come into YOUR PRESENCE with an honest reverence of WHO YOU ARE to experience the beauty that time can't erase YOUR WISDOM resting on their faces. LORD STRENGTHEN their determination to never waiver in efforts to search for YOU because the wages of sin is too high for anyone to pay. Additionally, THE KING OF KINGS is needed in their hearts to learn how to expand their capacity to love for YOU are LOVE in any language. 🥰 Once they learn to speak it with boldness through YOUR WONDERFUL COUNSELING all the world will hear, and know that LOVE is the language of their hearts. So LORD, KEEP KNOCKING on their door until they let YOU in to know hardships and struggles will end with a GREAT CELEBRATION WITH YOU. 🥰🙌🏻🙌🏾
If one believes faith cannot be forced, YOU WILL GIVE that individual over to the stubborn heart to follow own counsel which will surely fail him or her to the extent that the punishment will last forever found in Psalms 81 NIV. Given this, I pray that YOU WILL MAKE that person see that this feeling is wasted for a world in which we become strangers as we age, gives us thrills instead of peace, aims to solve a problem but creates another, and unrest surges with each passing generation. Shed some light into their broken hearts for YOU ARE THE GREAT JEHOVAH, THE GOD THAT HEALETH thee.
Lastly, LORD when they call on YOU in earnest prayer to come into their hearts to be born again (repentance manifesting itself in a changed life), I pray that YOU WILL GIVE them the blessed assurance of their salvation because nothing breaks YOUR HEART, or tears YOU apart like when they cry from the trials of the devil who comes to slander, falsely accuse, steal, kill & destroy. Only by drawing nearer to YOU LORD will put them on a path to a glorious one way trip winding upward to YOU where pain is not welcome because the heart will never break anymore. For ONLY C UNDERSTANDS our tears since YOU LOOK at the heart, while humans look at the flesh.
O LOVE that will not let them go. When they don't have the strength to try, and have cried all they can cry hear their hearts that need YOU more today than yesterday. Many thanks LORD for speaking TRUTH in our lives TO BLESS those who are not offended by THEE. LET YOUR WILL BE DONE because YOUR LOVE ALONE CONQUERS everything by WAITING for them to cease struggling, and finally surrender to YOUR EMBRACE to learn about YOUR LOVE AND PROMISE TO TAKE CARE of your children exquisitely. 🥰 Since... "at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore"... (Psalms 16:11 KJV), and the nail print for them to know YOU by answering the following question. How did CHRIST LOVE people into a relationship with HIM? 🥰

      1 John 3: 4-9
Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
      ---------------------------------
      John 9 :31
Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.

18 years ago I heard the gospel for the first time in my life. Drug addiction almost killed me, He saved me at my lowest point ever and raised me up. If God did not intervened in my life and opened my heart 18 years ago, I'd be dead. Indeed, I am a depraved and wretched sinner, saved by His amazing grace

    • @RVGrace
      @RVGrace 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

I LOVE it that you wrote, "I AM a wretched sinner..." I have noticed that many of the modern versions of this great hymn change the word "wretch" to some less insulting term. Back in the 90's, one of the Friday night sitcoms showed the family in church singing this hymn. I was glad to see that they showed the family in church and that they were singing Amazing Grace. But they changed it: Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a soul like mine. They couldn't say it; they could not admit it - wretch.
You mention your drug addiction. That is certainly a destructive form of sinfulness. I never did any of the things that the church of my childhood always told us young people was evil. (Well, I did listen to the Beatles, but that is another story!) But I was considered a good kid. I cannot recall a time when I did not go to church. I avoided the more "serious" outbreaks of sin as man (and most of religion) perceives sin. But for all the "goodness" of my outward appearance, I was a wretch. Like Saul of Tarsus, I had a good pedigree and record (so far as men could see) but was still "the chief of sinners."
And so far as my natural self is concerned, I am still a wretch. But just as the Lord Jesus was a sufficient Savior for wretches and chiefs of sinners when I first came to Him, so He is now, many years later.
Blessed be HIS name both now and forever more!

@@RVGrace faith comes by hearing and hearing by the WORD OF GOD. The word is God and is the activator of faith in us is His Spirit whereby we can believe and THEN be born again.

    • @RVGrace
      @RVGrace 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@marionchase-kleeves8311 According to the Lord Jesus, a person cannot see (in the sense of perceive or understand) or enter the kingdom of God unless he is born again. Paul said that the natural man does not does not receive the things of the things of the Spirit of God for they are foolishness to him. He also said that the fleshly mind is enmity with God. We are born flesh; we are born "natural," thus we cannot see or enter the kingdom of God unless we are "born again." This is the work of the Spirit of God who, like the wind, "goes wherever he wants to." He regenerates the dead spirit of man, and once He does, that man believes.
You are correct is saying that the word is God, got John says so clearly in the opening verse of his gospel. But when Paul wrote that faith comes by hearing nd hearing by the word of God, he was speaking of the preached word. In Romans 10, beginning in verse 14, we read,
14 "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.18But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.
In 1 Peter 1, beginning in verse 22, we read,
22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: 25But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
Here, Peter identifies "the Word of the Lord which endures forever" with the gospel. I preach from the NIV, but so far as I know, only the KJV has found a way to communicate one of the most important features in verse 25. Peter does not use the normal Greek word for preach. The Greek word for gospel is "euaggelion," and means "good message." When transcribed into English, it becomes "evangel." (In Greek, two g's make an "ng" sound.) You can see that it is our source for the word "evangelize." Peter took that noun and made it into a verb. So it could have been translated, "And this is the word that was evangelized to you. But it is good they didn't translate it that way for most English speaking people, when they hear the word "evangelize" think of special "evangelistic meetings" or door-to-door witnessing. But the word means simply to declare the good news. When I teach from that text, I generally re-translate it is, "And this is the word that was gospel-preached to you." So this "word of the Lord," is the good news.
Seeing that Jesus Christ is the Word of God, and the Word of God (the Lord) is the gospel, we conclude that the word of God, as a message to be preached (Paul told Timothy to preach the word), is the good news concerning Christ.
I 1 Peter 1 22, 23, Peter said that his readers had purified themselves by obeying the truth, having been born again. This is the same word the Lord, Himself used to describe the new birth in John 3. It is written in the "perfect" tense, a tense that refers to something already accomplished. So, they believed, having been born again. In other words, their being born again had already happened before they believed, and in truth, was the cause of their believing.
Actually, this is what John Newton believed and he implied it in this hymn. Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me; I once was lost, but now am found, Was blind, but now I see." He considered himself a wretch that God saved. He did not say, "I found Christ," but "Christ found me." He says that, though he had bee taught the gospel in his youth, "he was blind," so could not see it. But now he does see. How is that? A blind man cannot see until he has been given sight. He cannot be given sight because he sees. According to Jesus, the Kingdom of God is right here in front of us, but we cannot see it unless we are born again. But, when the Spirit of God is pleased to join His power to the preaching of the gospel, men are given spiritual life - are born again - and that revived spirit can and does see the Kingdom of God and, thus, believes the gospel.

Amazing Grace is not only a song, it is a statement of great faith. One if my favorite memories of singing this song in church was of seeing my Dad raising his hands and singing this song from his heart. My dad had a wonderful singing voice but would not always sing out. When Amazing Grace, that changed. His entire being was praising the LORD!!

@queenofmeanest meanie it's hard to imagine how someone so disgusting and brutal could be honored as a minister and hymn writer...
But that's the theme of Amazing Grace. He was a wretch, a worm, worthy of hell only, and if God could forgive someone as lowly as him, then then there is no one on this earth that God can't set free from the bondage of sin.
"Who God has set free is free indeed."

I have a problem with that word had he said a sinner, I'd accepted that. This. 2020. That word do not apply to a song or words written over200 years ago,.my children know the truth about, Santa Claus, the easter bunny, and the tooth fairy. I won't lie to my children and claim to be a child of God and lie to them every year. I teach them john 3:16..if um going sing a song then I better know what it mean. Even the bible on DVD now so if I couldn't read I d know what the word say.I'm just saying .I'm all for truth. But do any of you know what you are singing..then change that one word.unless you lived in that or those years. I doubt any of you was wretches or wrenches. A lie is a lie.but God forgive. @For in Your sight no man living is righteous. I guess you know the bible was written in three languages, Hebrew, Chaldean, and Greek, sometime Arabic. Funny how people over look john 3:16.how we not suppose to judge. How thy shall not kill translated mean thy shall not committee criminal homicide. Take your strings and translate for yourself. Not forget he forgives 70times 7 a day. Also the translators apologize saying they might got some things wrong. There's no mention of apple in the bible. How we are taught Satan gave eve a apple she gave it to Adam. Nobody teach us how Satan beguiled eve translated wholly seduced eve..how Cain was Satan child..yet you go on and on.the bible is on DVD now so people who can't read can know what the word of God is saying. One more thing. King James version is the only true version. God said not to add or takeaway from his word. And before one of his words fail, heaven and earth will pass away.God bless. . let's continue to pray for one another. Ace, neita, the Jackson family.

@queenofmeanest meanie I also find it painfully difficult, sometimes impossible to forgive someone when they've hurt someone else. I feel like they owe something to the person/people they hurt.
It's hard to imagine being off the hook like that. Maybe bc I don't let myself off the hook when I hurt someone.
Salvation isn't an act of service to make reparations though. We could never do enough good in our lives to be perfect. We could spend life trying to make up for everything we've messed up, and it would never balance out.
Salvation is forgiveness for all of the garbage we've done. Not the mistakes- but the ways we've hurt people and guilt we all carry around for it. Salvation is complete forgiveness. Someone else takes the blame. Someone else takes the shame, the responsibility, the guilt.
If I was on death row, someone else would take my spot, and I would go free. That's salvation, but it's your soul- and Jesus is the one who sat in the electric chair for everyone so we could go free.

I love it so much that I chose it as the song I wanted to get married to but I was told it was a funeral song and not for a wedding. I personally feel that it depends upon how you view the song and it’s background. The Padre wouldn’t allow it but gave in to the music being played to a different hymn. Speaking of History I saw the exact words of this hymn in a book wrote by a lady hymnist years before Newton ever claimed and fooled History to think he wrote it. He was never found out but the lady had passed away so she could not dispute it and her book did not gain a lot of national attention so her being the writer it was missed. I hope the world will soon realize John Newton did not write Amazing Grace ONLY THO I SAY if He did since both were led by the Spirit perhaps by coincidence both wrote the same hymn word for word thus Newton claims it. This does happen rarely yet does with some poets.

And, through the BLOOD of His Son, we are connected to His Hand - His Plan - to be His Restored, Blessed, and Forever FAMILY. @David Gefrovich We continue in faith, the faith that comes from Jesus. The faith we have is in him, it is from him and by him the mighty Lord and our saviour Jesus who is Christ The son of God. He is the author and the finisher of this faith. When Christ Jesus is preached it is faith that is preached, and grace is offered. Through faith by grace was the turning point in the life of Luther. Grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, by the scripture alone and to the glory of God alone.
      John
8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.8:35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

My story is somewhat like John Newton's. I was rescued, saved, in 1980 and had two good years and then my flesh stepped in and I make a HUGE 'marital' mistake. I sinned. I will say I didn't KNOW it was sin, I just wanted what I wanted, but the Lord told me "It's a mistake" and I refused to believe that. I wanted to believe I could make it work, so I tried. It was not meant to be so it failed. I wasted eight years of my life, and will not do that again. I will listen to the voice of our King. If we are His, He will speak to us and we will hear Him. The hardest part is actually listening, believing and then OBEYING. God help us all.

When I lost my only love, oh how hurt I was. I prayed every day and night for God to let him come back.....but he never did. For years I continued to hold to the hope. We had been so strong...there just had to be a way. Years passed and life moved on. I married, had two children, but I never forgot my first love. After 31 years, we met again. It was then I realized God had actually protected me from this person. You see, the person I had so deeply loved had been for decades a hopeless drunk, womanizer, sexual pervert, and needless to say his once good name was in ruin. People even in other counties had heard of his exploits. I believe God spared me from the extra heartache I would have gone through had we ended up together. After all the past years of wondering why my eyes were suddenly opened. God knew what was best for me, and he protected me even though I could not foresee the future and what lay ahead.

@@jeffreytay466 : Blessings Jeffrey, There are MANY signs in the Bible that we are in the end-times and some more of Christ's second coming. His second coming won't be for at least 7 years (the 7-year Tribulation or the Time of Jacob's Trouble must come before His second coming) but the rapture of the church could happen at any moment. A lot of these signs may be found in Matthew 24, Luke 21, Mark 13, Joel. Other signs are all over the Bible.
The Bible relates these signs to birth pains which get stronger and more frequent as the birth approaches. Some of these signs occasionally occur, but the key is when all these signs converge and with greater intensity.
Matthew 24:3 As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things happen? What will be the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age?”
4 Yeshua (Jesus)answered them, “Be careful that no one leads you astray! 5 For MANY WILL COME IN MY NAME, saying, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will lead many astray. 6 You will hear of WARS AND RUMORS (OR THREATS) OF WARS. See that you are not alarmed, for this must happen but it is not yet the end. 7 For NATION WILL RISE UP AGAINST NATION, and KINGDOM AGAINST KINGDOM. And there will be FAMINES and EARTHQUAKES IN VARIOUS PLACES. 8 But all these things are only the beginning of birth pains. 9 Then they will hand you over to PERSECUTION AND THEY WILL KILL YOU. You will be HATED BY ALL NATIONS BECAUSE OF MY NAME. 10 And then MANY WILL FALL AWAY AND WILL BETRAY ONE ANOTHER AND HATE ONE ANOTHER. 11 Many FALSE PROPHETS will arise and lead many astray. 12 Because LAWLESSNESS WILL MULTIPLY , AND THE LOVE OF MANY WILL GROW COLD. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

    • @entropy2002
      @entropy2002 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Those are just the signs mentioned in Matthew 24. There are many more throughout the Bible. I believe that somewhere you asked about the Revelation 12:1 & 2 sign (actually the Bible calls it a GREAT SIGN). This sign is so exact and specific that many people thought Christ might rapture the church then, but the Bible calls it a "great sign".
Revelation 12:1 A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.
2 She is pregnant-crying out in birth pains, in agony to give birth.
On September 23, 2017, in Virgo (The Virgin to the Jews) she normally has 9 stars at her head, but on that day 3 planets (wandering stars) filled in to make 12 stars. The sun went through her (clothed in the sun), the moon was at her feet. What was REALLY astounding was that Jupiter (the King Planet) was in her abdomen for 9 months (gestation period) and came out (she gave birth) at that time.
People checked back at least 6000 years using astronomy software and forward at least 1000 years and 9/23/17 was the only time this occurred. There were several times in these 7000 years where this alignment was not too far off, but that date was the only time that occurred exactly.
PLEASE Jeffrey, if you have any further questions, just ask. I will try to answer as best I can.
If you are not a born-again Christian, I urge you to become one, if you are, HalleluYAH we are going home soon. Please don't ask me how long is "soon", it could be tomorrow or 5 years from now, I do not know, but I strongly suspect it is on the shorter end of that time-frame. Blessings of God!
