    Looks to be a great product. My general experience with this type of pole is that they tend to not remain extended and you cannot get a good amount of tension on guide lines. Bad in wind. I drill through the poles and pin them so they cannot retract at all.

    • @SnowysOutdoors
      @SnowysOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think temperature changes can affect the holding power of the poles, i.e. if you tighten them up in the cool of night, they may loosen once the sun hits them in the morning. Your solution would certainly stop any slippage though. Just to cover our butts though, I'll mention that it's not something we would recommend purely based on it potentially voiding warranty. ~ Ben

    I did a comparison at a recent Newcastle camping show between this and the Darche awning. The difference I found was the Darche has 6 arms and a greater span, especially around the back of the truck, compared to the 23zero with only 5 arms. Price-wise 23Zero was $850 which is reasonable, the Darche was $1050. I found the Darche a much bigger and well made awning but would be happy with the 23Zero. Customer service is another thing. Darche is more face to face with refunds and exchanges whereas the 23Zero is purely through Snowys and would be very difficult to exchange or deal with in warranties. Shipping etc...
    Both canvas covers are what you expect.

    • @SnowysOutdoors
      @SnowysOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your feedback, El Cruffo McScruffy, all valid points you make.
      One benefit of the 23Zero awning is the weight saving, they have used a lighter canvas but ensures a tight weave to maintain performance. Good point regarding the extra arm (or spar), the extra spar to the rear of the Darche awning creates extra coverage at the rear, whilst the absence of this arm on the 23Zero awning allows lift-up tailgates to be easily opened without hitting any of the awning frame.
      As for warranties and exchanges, we pride ourselves on the service we offer here. If you have a problem with your awning we'll do our best to sort it out with the minimal of hassle at your end.
      As you mention, both awnings are excellent and are fit for purpose.

    I am in the market for a 270 awning but after watching this video I will have to cross this one off my list of "a possible contender". My reason for that is I would not be able to open the passenger's front door while the awning is set up without removing the pole first.

    • @SnowysOutdoors
      @SnowysOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will depend on how the awning is positioned as to where the pole will sit, Mike, might be worth working this out before you decide on an awning. ~ Ben

    This is exactly what I'm looking for, can the front part of the awning be used with out the pole as it looks as though you can not open the front door.

    • @SnowysOutdoors
      @SnowysOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brad, when mounting the awning you could line the awning up so the pole sits just forward of the door, but this is dependent on your vehicle and the position of your roof rack. You could use it without the pole, but it's not recommended, especially in windy weather. The awning is only designed to be freestanding for setup and pack down. ~ Ben

    I have just purchased a 23 Zero Falcon awning, I see that you have the tail gate end square with your vehicle, i cannot do that with mine, am I doing something wrong or is there an adjustment I can make? Cheers

    • @SnowysOutdoors
      @SnowysOutdoors  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You would need to adjust the position of either the location of the mounting points on the vehicle, or adjust the position of the brackets on the awning backing plate to make sure everything lines up how you want it to. Every mounting process will vary depending on your vehicle configuration. ~ Ben

      This awning has actually been renamed, Daniel, and is now called the Falcon, which we can only get in the passenger side version (as at April 2022), you can buy this version here - www.snowys.com.au/falcon-270-awning.
      We still have the Peregrine awning in the drivers side though, it's basically the same, just a name change, once 23Zero sell through this I imagine they will rename the drivers side to Falcon too.
      See the drivers side Peregrine awning here - www.snowys.com.au/peregrine-270-awning-with-lst.
      I hope that makes sense.

    Looking for a 270 that's not so fragile & can be used free standing. The Bush Company does an excellent awning, but their stocking volume is poor & never seem to have any in stock. Who else does free standing?

    • @SnowysOutdoors
      @SnowysOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We don't carry any that claim to be fully freestanding, Airborne Images, they all require some pegging down to make sure no damage occurs in bad weather.
      Those freestanding models look to be pretty heavy, and they still mention the need for guy ropes in heavy wind but still no poles. I reckon I'd still want it pegged down in case the wind picked up, because if the awning doesn't give way then something on the roof rack or vehicle probably would.
      Just my thoughts on the subject.

      @@SnowysOutdoors Thanks Ben. I’m fine with securing with ropes in wind, which would be crucial for all, but love that they don’t need poles & have substantial arms to support the weight.
      Not keen on the awnings that need poles at all times to stop the arms from failing under their own weight.
      Regards Simon.

    What's the fabric like and how sturdy are those poles?
    They don't appear very good quality and cannot be pegged at base.
    Thanks
    Michael

    • @SnowysOutdoors
      @SnowysOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fabric feels good, Michael. It has a nice tight weave and offers a good balance of weight and durability. The poles feel fine too, the have the regular twist lock feature that most of these awnings have, and the guy ropes are there to keep everything secured to the ground.
      In my opinion, there was nothing about this awning that stood out as being largely better or worse than any other awnings in the same category.

      I'm not quite sure what you are referring to sorry, DENMONKEY. I assume you mean the nylon loops in which the strap is placed. If so, these are riveted to the frame and bar-tacked to the fabric, so I don't think you'll have any issues here. ~ Ben

    It’s a shame it’s so short over the rear no good for wagons

    • @SnowysOutdoors
      @SnowysOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      23Zero specifically redesigned the frame to make sure there was nothing getting in the way of lift-up tailgates, Dwayne, and the distance to the rear is the same as the distance on the side.
      The only real limitation is the angle across the rear, but it still provides shelter to access the cargo space whilst under shelter.
      I guess each vehicle is different though, it may not suit them all.

      @SnowysOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll check in on our wording there, Matt, apologies if it is misleading. Just to clarify, it's freestanding for set up and pack away, whilst in use it needs to be secured so as not to damage the the hinges and mounting plate in the event of strong wind.
