The startup and shutdown sounds of Windows 2000 build 1983-2000 will never be used in RTM version.An alternative version will be used in Windows 2000.

It feels weird hearing the new tada sound on Windows 2000 (I thought that Windows 2000 used the Windows 3 startup for the tada sound while the new tada sound was introduced in Windows Vista)

This version of the Tada noise was apparently already used in Windows 98. Vista did introduce it's own Tada sound, which I think is what you had in mind, but it sounds nothing like either of the classic versions.

The Mastercard sound originated from Windows 2000.

Fun fact: Many people consider Server 2003 as the first Server version of windows. Technically Windows 2000 Server Was the first version of windows Server Because Comparing Windows XP and Svr. 2003 to 2000 and 2000 server, Almost No difference an All.

The Microsoft Sound was changed in Windows 9x. (Actually Windows 2000 Startup sound are labelled as "The Microsoft Sound" in Windows Me).
