At the GE Apparatus service shop in Atlanta in the late 70's they used a large Schenk dynamic balancer for motor and generator rotors and gas and steam turbine rotors. They didn't cover the turbine blades so when a gas turbine rotor was spinning, there was a huge rush of air blowing through the shop, even though it was unshrouded. It was pretty cool.
Very interesting, you need to close up/repair the top part of the analogue meter in your test set as dust can accumulate within the meter and affect the readings.

what is that clicking noise sounds like a flat spot I would think that would throw off the balance
