Superb sound my friend! BP had a gift to compose hauntingly beautiful melodies.
I can't stop myslef from asking you why you chose (at 1:49) to resolve the tension with Am6 to a D7 chord? It surprised me, but it felt almost natural after hearing it a second time (same phrase ending at 2:27).
    Saludos,
    Gabriel

    ERROR : D# and not D natural

What on earth is Csa rosewood?
    Another word for Brazilian?

    • @RoneiRamos
      @RoneiRamos 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes. Is brazilian Rosewood. But thy name it South America Rosewood.

    • @YouTubeHandlesAreMoronic

My guess: It's GSI's silly attempt to either; A) Hide the fact that it's Brazilian, B) Elevate the cost/cache' of other rosewoods by lumping them in with Brazilian, or C) hide the fact that they have no idea which wood it really is...

      I did some reading.
And this seems to be the new form of trickery or so to speak.
Every damn luthier or maker is using this term Csa rosewood.
And the prices are astronomical by the way.
And sound is well I wanna say subjective. I mean it’s tough to compare. And we don’t need more confusion within. So one would never know what it is exactly.
And now everyone will want this blindly.

@@beeps123 Here in Brazil, we still say brazilian rosewood (jacarandá-da-baía), indian rosewood (jacarandá indiano), african rosewood. (jacarandá africano) etc.

CSA stands for Central or South American Rosewood. GSI use this term because there are so many different types of CSA rosewoods and most of the time it's hard or even impossible to indetify exactly what the species is.

      That’s definitely the truth.
Although, it makes me laugh, to think about my first
instructor, and how would have probably put a splint on my thumb
      to stop those gyrations.

Not just the thumb. His entire right hand technique is no appropriate in terms of conserving energy and developing a great tone. He's very good, obviously, but could be twice as good

phombuspucker There’s nothing wrong with his RH technique, and there’s also nothing wrong with pointing out that it looks unusual.

    • @YouTubeHandlesAreMoronic

Visually, the unusual motion of his right thumb was the first thing I noticed. Like MH stated, not "wrong"; just unusual. With most players, there's simply not much flexion of the distal joint. With him, there's a LOT, even when it appears that thumb is not playing a note, but moving sympathetically with the fingers. There are some, I'm sure, who would argue that he should work to avoid unnecessary motion. I've found that strict approach to be mostly a waste of time and effort. To a certain extent, natural movements are best accommodated, not "corrected."

Many people play differently with effective results, see Thibaut Garcia for example, GFA winner. The thumb is not only used to pluck bases but also to stop sympathetic vibration. allowing it to move unintentionally makes so you cannot do this. The difference sometimes is not audible though and he's certainly able to play as he pleases so it is a personal choice and it is not about trying to argue that he is not good because he does that. There's another video int which he plays a tremolo and because of the nature of that technique, his hand looks just "normal". What I would really put into question is whether or not you should teach or learn from this technique as a role model. I think the answer to that does not have that many points of view.

He's doing an excessive and unnecessary motion with his right hand fingers. Like a circling motion for each plucking of the strings. He's consuming more energy and sacrificing tone due to that single detail. Those little things completely change the way you play and make you improve by leaps instead of steps. I bet he's been told that already but doesn't listen. And no, I'm not a hater. I analyze everything. And no, I'm not a pro guitarist.
