I prefer playing paladin supports then Overwatch, because they have have better defensive capabilities and more damage. Obviously depending on the character, paladins champs are more equipped to being flanked or at least being able to retreat to their teammates for cover.
Mercy is NOT a healbot. Her usefulness is her damage boost. What the bronze. Healbotting might be necessary SOMETIMES in OW if you're a main healer (Ana/Bap/Moira/Kiriko), but if you're not damaging the enemy or using cooldowns offensively (Ana/Lucio most notably) you are going to be hardstuck past a certain point. The only true healbot in OW right now is Lifeweaver, since his damage is so awful and his utility is entirely defensive. I will admit I'm still new to paladins (I don't have all the supports unlocked for instance), but I think OW supports are more fun since it's more than just "plop heal on target from distance that recovers quickly". Baptiste, Ana, and even Brig I feel more engaged with (might be sound design, could be some other factors)
