It also doesn't help that we've about three sets, one of them doesn't work and we lost the adapter for the other one, so basically my advice is check that the lights work first before it's too late and you've put all the decorations on the tree 👀

A story from my childhood: Friend and I cramming in my room. Mum comes in: "I am going to get a tree, but a small one to go on the upright". I: "OK, ring when you're back, I'll bring it up" Hours later, the door bell rings. Mum on intercom "you better ask your friend to help" We put it on the balcony until a few days later when I put it up. The small tree barely fits horizontally, and that only because I rest half of it on the sofa. I decided to cut 30cm from the top. Still doesn't fit. Rummage in the cupboard to find an old skirting board saw and proceed to cut abt 15cm from the bottom. I discover a skirting board saw is the wrong tool for cutting a tree. The tree was meant to be up before dad arrives to leave presents. Dad arrives, living room floor still covered in tree. Dad: "I thought mum sad she wld get a small tree to go on the upright." Looks at tree and his child turned lumberjack. This tree wldn't fit on a concert grand ... or a church organ for that matted. Dad helps with sawing tree. We then manage to balance tree at a 40 degree angle in the dining table corner. Dining table now having pride of place in the middle of the room. Dad holds tree while I tie strings to top of tree and suspend the leaning Christmas tree. The upright looks robbed of its big role.
I laughed way too hard reading this 😂 Thankfully, it's been a long time since we had a tree that was too tall, but circumfence is always an issue each year. Still waiting for the day when my mom realizes that a tree in a transport net will get wider once you remove the net.

OMG, I’ve become Oisin’s mother 😱 I let my son decorate the tree every year while constantly giving him ‘tips’ and ‘advice’ about where everything goes, and drive him mad in the process. We had new lights this year that came all tangled up in the box! Took us so long to untangle all 500 lights and put them on the tree we were too tired and fed up to put any decorations on it that evening!

Mum used to just let me and my siblings have at it with the tree every year! It was usually chaos and ended in tears but the tree looked okay in the end!

My dad used to very much dislike Christmas trees and decided that the living room needed vacuuming a day before Christmas. Then he walked against the Christmas tree and our whole tree fell down on Christmas eve. Christmas has never been the same in our house 😂
