you will literally never understand how much i love pokepark and pokemon conquest id literally cry my eyes out if gamefreak ever even so much as uttered their name ever again that's how low the bar and desperation have become.
I feel like no one is mentioning how porting Pokemon ranger includes finding a way to deal with the lack of a stylus and dual screens (you could use the switch touch screen but that would be way slower than the stylus circling) and that's likely more effort than it's worth compared to porting more easily translatable titles like mystery dungeon or something. Obviously Ranger wasn't crazy successful either but some of these ports can easily just be summed up to "too much effort not enough demand"
imo part of Pokemon Conquest's appeal comes from the side stories you unlock after completing the main storyline! You can input codes to encounter specific pokemon, and you can try to get each character their best-match pokemon.
I remember playing it when I was younger, I had no idea that it was like a tie-in type of thing. I just remember goofy little pixel Pokémon doing goofy things. Honestly that's why I don't understand why we can't see a remake of that game as its own standalone thing where you just kind of play with Pokémon. It could even be like a free download thing so they don't have to worry about losing money.
Pokèpark 2 is WAAAYY better than the first game. Like the world feels more like an actual Pokémon society, there’s an actual antagonist and but stakes, you can play as 4 different Pokémon. One of my favorite pokemon games!
Yes! Not mention the music all over wish park goes hard. I enjoy the space theme from that area, as well as the dance minigame theme. I also just think the darkrai castle was really cool! It keeps a lot of the core mechanics from the original pokepark, but gives it more of a story imo.
The only thing I didn't like was how mini games and friends were handled. I know violating your controller isn't a popular mechanic, but the old mini games gave a real incentive to befriend and use every Pokemon. Them helping out in battle is cool but is extremely limited by power creep.
My main gripe with Pokepark 2 is that in the mini games you can only play as the 4 heroes where the first game let you play as tons of different Pokémon in the mini games
Yeees, I had pokepark 2 first and loved it, so a year ago I got the first one cuz I thought it would be similarly good. I played it like two times for an hour and then never went back because it was soo boring and felt like it didn’t have any plot
It’s so funny when people say NO ONE talks about poke park because I see someone in the community begging/predicting/wishing for a new poke park game at least 2 times a week lmaoo 😭😭 like yea sure no one
I genuinely miss the older Pokemon games. Park, Ranger and Rumble have just kinda...vanished in recent years. The only pillar that remains is Mystery Dungeon.
The Pokemon Ranger series is still my favorite pokemon spinoff series to this day, I used to play Shadows of Almia all the time when I was a kid, I loved the story, the music, etc, heck, I even love it even more than all the Mystery Dungeon games. Definitely an underrated series. 😅
also x and y had a good amount of hype behind them compared to the bottoming out of black and white. It was finally the jump to 3d which was crazy, memes of being able to sit was insane. Also megas were a huge thing.

Finally, someone that remembers Pokemon conquest! I love that game so much. I got it on my birthday when I was like 5 or 6 so I barely knew how to play it, but I had a great time anyways :) I go back to it now and then and I'm so glad to have it. It's actually a crossover between Pokemon and another series called Nobunaga's Ambition and the gameplay is heavily inspired from that series down to the conquering/territory gaining and battle system.
It's suuuuuch a thick game I was befuddled to find that the story was just the beginning It should almost give you a subtle heads up to give your favorite characters Pokemon they like so you don't have to risk losing so much progress if you fail Also the amount of research you need to do to find pokemon, to evolve pokemon and to understand how perfect links work amazes me. Aw, Pokemon Conquest is one of my favorite spin-off pokemon titles. Hearing you didn't like it is disappointing, but you have to really be into RTS in order to get into it, so I understand it being rather niche.

as a big fire emblem and final fantasy tactics fan, pokemon conquest is genuinely one of my favorite spin offs! its not really a genre that lends itself to easily adapt what makes Pokemon "Pokemon" but for a tactics game with a pokemon skin its a lot of fun!
When I bought my 3DS used off eBay in around 2014, it came with a copy of Guardian Signs. I didn't touch it a single time until probably around 2020 or so. And honestly I really wish the Ranger series got more love now. I didn't get to play it when it came out and wrote it off as a child's game, but it's truly one of the most charming and intriguing side series they've ever cooked up for the franchise.
A completely forgotten (but absolutely goated) feature of Pokémon Battle Revolution was its ability to import your own Pokémon from Gen 4 games. Not only was that Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, but it also included HG/SS. It was pretty awesome getting to play with your own Pokémon (even gigantic legendaries) on the television for the first time. Your Pokémon even kept their same move sets! I had a boatload of fun with it as a child.
I recently filled my pokemon ranch with 1000 pokemon to get a mew. Was definitely a fun project! Helped feed my love for pokemon diamond and I basically ended up 100%ing the game in my venture.
I remember My Pokemon Ranch because I used to play it every morning before going to school. My old best friend from elementary school transferred some of his pokemon onto my ranch over a decade ago and they're stuck there forever now because he moved to a different country.
God i love this era. Pokepark is a pretty neat mini game collection. Ranger is genuienly a cool series. Xd gale of darkness and colosseum are beloved with a super unique catching mechanic.
Pokémon ranger was my top 3 played DS game along with legend of kage 2 and the Simpsons game. It has such a unique charm that wasn't totally different from normal Pokémon games but a felling like you are really responsible for calming down chaotic situations and helping Pokémon...good times
As someone who got really into Pokémon conquest… you haven’t even seen 1% of it lol. You have to beat the prologue story to get into the rest of the game
I love gens 3-5, but I will forever place Colosseum and XD on a pedestal above the others. The gritty world, the rpg focused story, the spin on the gameplay, the incredible music... something about it all hits insanely hard for me.
I had Pokemon Ranger Guardian Signs on my DSi, that game was VERY FUN and is a part of my childhood, i miss playing it i also had Pokemon Conquest, in my opinion it was a unique spin off and its a good classic game that was also part of my childhood :]
My first ranger game was guardian signs and i absolutely love it. I even got a holographic bookmark from my school that featured entei and his call sign, which was and still is sick af
I've played a few of the games mentioned. For Pokémon Ranger, I bought Almia a few years after it released and fell in love with it rather quickly. I've beaten the game at least like 10 times at this point, even trying to beat it without saving once. Later I did Guardian Signs, which despite having only played it once I may like even more than Almia. As for the OG Ranger... I was used to the improved catching mechanics so going back to the older ones was ... not a good experience. I believe I bought Poképark like 2 years after its release, and it definitely has a very child friendly story. While the game itself is definitely fine, I'd almost call it kindergarten-esque in the way that it's essentially "Oh no the world is having owies and you need to fix it by becoming friends with eeeeeeeeveryone". As for the second one, that one was a lot darker (Without spoiling too much, at one point there's a black hole and multiple characters get sucked in) and while I liked the different characters, there were a LOT less minigames which is what made the first one so fun to play. Did have a couple of post-game bosses in the 2 B&W Box legendaries though, that I beat with good ol' Oshawott (I swear, despite Oshawott trying to be pretty serious in this game it's fucking adorable). As for Dash, I'm a big racing fan so the idea of a Pokémon Racing game was a cool one. But wow it missed the mark. The controls are pretty shit, Pikachu is faster than any other pokémon by design so it's really easy, apart from the later tracks where it becomes a "where the fuck do I go" type of game. Not to mention it's extremely short.
Amazing video!! PokePark Wii was the first Pokemon game I ever played and after recently replaying it, I can say it’s my favorite game in the series!! You’ve earned my sub!

My top two favorite Pokémon games of all time ARE spin off games (shadows of almia and explorers of sky) no one does spin off games as well as Pokémon does
pokemon in 96 was bigger than pokemon go. When it came out it became like an overnight sensation. Thus those games sold better than any other pokemon games. It got so big that people thought all anime was pokemon and even handheld gaming being considered pokemon. Could you imagine if pokemon go cost $75 per person to play to still hit the tens of millions in sales? It was peak and has never gotten close to that. Through those days thery were in the macys day parade which was one of the biggest honors back in the day
Yeah the graph in the video is wack and not based on any real data. Pokémania was at it's peak in the 90s, it's where the term originated after all. Edit: On top of that we have the weird idea that Pokémon was more popular in the sword/shield era compared to the GBA era, you only need to look at sales figures to realise how wrong this is. The mainline GBA Pokémon games add up to 35,280,000 sales while sword/shield sits at 26,000,000 - still almost ten million behind the whole GBA line. To my surprise though, the DS line actually surpasses both at a total of 40,330,000 sales between Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. Black/White and X/Y are when the series really started seeing a decline in sales, until Pokémon Go undeniably exploded. I guess if you count the entire Switch era as one sales figure the graph makes more sense?
shortly into the video i heard life will change in the pokemon soundfont and i was so confused because i didn't realize why it was so familiar at first
Pokepark Wii holds so much sentimental and nostalgic value to me. I remember everything about the day I got the game. 2010, it was the last day of year 4 and I had gotten a principles award for good work throughout the year. As a treat, my parents took to the shops after school to get a game. Immediately 10 year old me was drawn to poke park. From then till I went back To school the next year, I played that game nonstop. I loved it!
I remember seeing all these spinoffs and being sad that I couldn't afford most of them back at the time. At least I got to play Pokemon Ranch, Battle Revolution, Coliseum, and played the DS ones on my flashcart.
a lot of people remember these you guys just played these games very young and there's a weird gap of a few years between the ages that people enjoyed these. ask people 10 years older than you about these.
i love the PokePark series so much it brought me and my friend so much joy as kids i even have a sealed copy of PokePark 2 its one of my favorite collection items
I find it funny how I played 2/3 main line games but I’ve played through most of the games on this list (mostly because I was a bored kid that had an R4 and modded wii), conquest is such an hidden gem for me, I hope they bring it back one day. Also Pokémon rumble was one of the games that I sunk a lot of time in!
This was my era of pokemon. I don't think I really played any of the weird little spinoffs back in the day, but a lot of my earliest pokemon memories are from the gen 3-gen 4 transitional era. I tried picking up pokemon ranger as an adult, but I mostly just felt like I was too old for it (despite still enjoying the mainline games)
Pokemon Colosseum hit me at just the right time. I love that game. For something made by a studio that didn't know anything about Pokemon, they made a gem. Game Freak will likely never let another company explore the Orre region again, but I really hope they remaster the game one day.

As a treat, my parents took to the shops after school to get a game. Immediately 10 year old me was drawn to poke park. From then till I went back To school the next year, I played that game nonstop. I loved it!
8 bits megaranger opening nice
I love Pokémon ranch, I miss it so much
okay, I miss all of these
Pokemon Ranch was ahead of its time, Ranch and BR on the Wii is what I still
Expect from 3d Pokemon
guardian signs had some pretty fun character and worldbuilding ideas.
shoutout to my guy Hocus and the bop that is the Sky Fortress theme.
I love My Pokemon Ranch, still play it from time to time
I've never played any spinoffs, but I kinda wish I had Pkmn Ranch. Those little chonky models are so charming
POKEPARK MENTIONED ‼️‼️‼️‼️
WHAT THE FUCK IS A TRILOGY 🗣️🔥🔥😎🤔🤓🤮⁉️⁉️⁉️
(I am very sad)
no its ok maybe if all 20 of us come together and believe hard enough they'll bring it back! (collective coping)

Pokemon conquest was my childhood.
Battle Revolution was cool yet very disappointing as it didn't improve quite enough from the stadium games.
The third Ranger game was my very first introduction to Pokémon as a kid. I enjoyed it
I love both PokeParks and PokePark 2 is the reason why Oshawott is my favorite starter. I love his characterization in that game so much!
Gotta love the Persona 5 music in the background😂
Pokepark was one of the best parts of my childhood me and my sister would take turns watching each other play
Pokepark is the only Pokémon game I genuinely enjoyed doing a 100% completion run.
Was hoping to see Pokemon Channel make the list. My absolute favorite as a kid!
Pokemon Battle Revolution has aged beautifully. The soundtrack is one of the absolute best soundtracks in gaming, period.
*crying* YOHRE NEVER FORGOTTEN POKEMON BATTLE REVOLUTION
i love the PokePark series so much it brought me and my friend so much joy as kids i even have a sealed copy of PokePark 2 its one of my favorite collection items
The 2 main braincells of whoever was in charge of naming the Ranch caretaker "HAYley"
B1: bro...
B2: BRRUUUH
we’re so lucky that the 1999 pokémon snap got remade! it is unironically one of my favorite games
New Pokemon Snap isn't a remake.
The original Pokemon Rumble on the Wii being left out of this video shows how forgotten it is 😭
The Pokemon Ranger series was so good, I was so obessed! 😍
Crazy how the "forgotten era" is some of our prime eras
This was my era of pokemon. I don't think I really played any of the weird little spinoffs back in the day, but a lot of my earliest pokemon memories are from the gen 3-gen 4 transitional era. I tried picking up pokemon ranger as an adult, but I mostly just felt like I was too old for it (despite still enjoying the mainline games)
It's kinda ironic that most part of these games i knew the existence, but never played, just watched gameplay as a kid
Pokemon Colosseum hit me at just the right time. I love that game. For something made by a studio that didn't know anything about Pokemon, they made a gem. Game Freak will likely never let another company explore the Orre region again, but I really hope they remaster the game one day.
As a fella born in the year 2000, I was raised in the forgotten era.
Pokémon XD and colosseum are amazing and need a remake or sequel desperately
Ngl I very much enjoyed some spins off like ranger, rumble, conquest, and dungeon
The library I used to volunteer for had a monthly Pokémon day. I used to bring my DSs so the kids could play Battle Revolution.
