Well, I tried to look into the bolt catch. Wasn't easy to get o and NOT real sure how it comes out yet. Working on it, since replacement parts are not easy to get, I have to be careful.
If I use my fingernail I can operate the bolt catch. Certainly not ideal, but it does function. I would think someone will make a better design at some point, I have saw many aftermarket parts for this gun already.
Quick question, would you happen to know if Smith and Wesson has a parts list or parts diagram for the folding pistol carbine? Thanks for the excellent videos.
It is a one way out pin, it stops after about 1/8" of travel. Not risking it to pound it out. I don't have a reason to disassemble it, just curious on how it does come apart and go back together.
Heads up everybody, I have been releasing the bolt catch on the FPC with my thumbnail on my offhand. Yes it was a full magazine every time. Enjoy! No, I did not have the nasty long thumbnails.. lol

On the FPC, it is NOT a bolt release at all. It was solely designed as a bolt catch only. The FPC was designed to use the charging handle as the release.
Looks like it needs a better design then as people want a bolt release. Also they need to flip those mags around and change it to a simpler retaining mechanism as the one they have is ridiculous.
I have no problem with the bolt catch. I practiced with it, if you push up on both sides the bolt release will hold. Like I said practiced is easy.

The bolt catch only holds the bolt open don't use for release use the charging handle or you will break the bolt catch mechanism
The steel is hardened so you can't bend it without breaking it. You'll need to anneal it, bend it, then re-harden it.
I left it alone. No need to go through all that for me, the charging slide works just tine.

Not that I am aware of, I am looking for one too.
that pin your looking at come out only one side. i think it only the other side. you can see it, one side is a bigger flang than the other.

@@hollowpointdefense im thinking about making my first video here for you.

also it looks like your bold hold is starting to bend inwards like mine did. keep a eye on it.
It has been like that since I got it. I know of two others that look the same.
Case hardened. You can bend ..but why?
Personally, I would build it up with Crazy glue and ash a small tab. Mold to fit by hand.
I am not going to mess with it, it isn't that important to me.
what i did was tap the side of the bolt hold. i can send you pictures.
I'd like pictures too, im considering tapping it and fastening something that will extend it so I can reach it with my thumb
Please do.
@@hollowpointdefense you got a email?
I didn't see it.
You can't purchase this bolt Release, and if you modify it, you might be SOL. Especially if your FPC requires service in the future.
S&w calls this a catch not a release use the charging handle. Call them and they'll tell you the same. Just like an ar

My bolt "release" is hit and miss. When I have to "mess" with a bolt release, it introduces doubt. What say you S&W?
