GLC 220d 4M early owner here with 2 young children, nearing 200k km and 6.5 years with absolutely zero issues. GLC is an excellent car ! Tips: Stay away from any piano black surface during configuration, I wanted the brushed aluminum that was unfortunately combined with piano black center console and after a couple of months it looks like a mesh with fingertips and small scratches, there are professionals that can make it like new but want >100 euros to wax it... Also please note that opting for a bigger fuel tank eats up the trunk below the raise trunk separator by equal volume. Excellent car overall with outstanding resale value!
ugh, wish they gave you the option to remove the glossy plastic in the middle, that wood on the dash is so beautiful, it would have been perfect for it to continue in the glossy part
Given how popular these models are, there will likely be aftermarket wraps and vinyl. I do agree though gloss plastic is terrible in almost any interior.
@@khoaphan8490 yeah you right, hopefully high quality vinyls will appear on the market, its just silly how mercedes offers you the option of nice wood center console if you get the hyperscreen on the eqs, but then you deal with a whole dash thats just screen

Mercedes optioning does confuse me slightly although I am generally a fan, GLC, EQE, GLB etc can get ventilated seats with Artico leatherette, but expensive models like EQS, S-Class, etc cannot get ventilated seats with Artico, you need to get full leather. What's up with that?
Yes indeed your point is accurate. Mercedes is missing something there, claiming their new EVs are super sustainable and then putting them full of animal skin especially in high trims
@@autogefuehl hi Thomas, good job as always. One Question. When ordering a new GLC we opted for nappa leather...sorry for that :) and we wanted ventilated seats. They told us it cannot be done, just with Artico. How then you had Vienna brown seats (the animal ones) on test with ventilation shown on this video. Also some configurators (Croatian, Italian) show ventilation on their configurators, but later at the dealership tell you it cannot be added, but just with Leatherette seats (Artico), which are not pretty as the diamond style ones, also doesn't have diamont style pattern in the doors? Thank you.
Can’t wait for the car to be available. I been hesitant on the 2022 model and now that I seen 2023, it is definitely a winner. Thank for the comprehensive review
What I love about Mercedes is that real hide nappa leather is still available for choice to the customers unlike for example Volvo who have taken it away completely. Give the customer a choice!
Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. As a start, please tune in to what the animal leather industry tried to do here with our channel: th-cam.com/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/w-d-xo.html In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat would be the reason no.1 in other cases, the hide remains one of the most profitable body parts. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you accept it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and destroys the environment, you make them more profitable. Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which body part you would murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse? The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination. If you are interested in how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: th-cam.com/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/w-d-xo.html Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally. For the alternative, you can either use artificial fabrics which can be made from recyclables (we have already shown a lot of vehicles that use great fabric seats from PET-bottles etc.) or more and more also from plant-based materials (like Pinatex). And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car. In practical reasons, fabric or microfibre seats are just more useful. You do not sweat in summer and it is not cold in winter. And there are also new leatherette materials available which are superior in every aspect: th-cam.com/video/u94YXJ72UTA/w-d-xo.html Using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all just of common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
@@autogefuehl Thank you for your reply and insight but I will of course continue to eat prime beef during my meals and choose nappa leather for my car seats.

Great review as always. I love the design but when I test drove the C300 recently in the US, it wasn't as great as I hoped it would be. The brake is non linear and doesn't engage until the midrange of travel. The 4 cylinder engine has plenty of power but it doesn't suit luxury cars with the noise and rev profile, the 6 cylinder is much smoother. The materials and build felt economy. Comparing the fully optioned C300 at $64k against the 3.5T GV70 at $64k, the Genesis felt like a $100k vehicle. We went with the Genesis.
Mercedes is really leading the way for plug-in hybrid technology. Sure the current Volvos have a 18,8 kWh battery pack but only a 3,7kWh onboard charger meaning its nearly useless to charge i.e. during grocery shopping. The new Mercs standard 11kWh makes it a viable option for those that mainly use public charge points. Hopefully BMW catches up soon since I'm too young to be driving a Merc 😆
Funny that, when we were looking for a car, the GLC was 1st on the list, but I wasn't sure when this new version will arrive in Australia, so I put it on hold. Then the Tiguan R came so I bit the bullet and ordered one. Now I am having second thought after seeing this review and seen what the inside looks like and it's beautiful. I showed this to my wife and she said I can have it when I turn 60. 😄
