It's *so depressing* that (1) you have to crush people's expectations, (2) they don't pay attention, and (3) still want to know where you got the chlorauric acid.
he probaby get chloroauric acid, when he dissolves the 1.5 gold material(probably a piece of gold jewelry or gold coins, gold dusts, etc...) in aqua regia
3rd have answer in 2nd statement.. in the start of video: here is solidified Chloroauric acid which we produced in previous video, which contains 1,5g gold. Interesting why some still want to know where you got the Chloroauric acid when they don't pay attention?.. That's depressing :D
Yeah...I was thinking it's sad that you have to actually give that disclaimer, you'd think there wouldn't be anyone left today that actually believes in alchemy. But then there are flat earthers so you never know. You'd THINK it'd be obvious that chloroauric acid contains gold, because it's right there in the name. It's HAuCl4 (Au coming from aurum which is Latin for gold).
You're awesome because you show what chemicals you used. This allowed me to do really well on my final chemistry project as a I modified the potassium chlorate and gummy bear reaction into a rocket engine :)
I really like these videos. I like that you put the chemical reactions that take place on the screen so I can see what is happening. It has been a few years since I had chemistry and I have an idea what is happening but seeing the written reaction really helps to understand. Science is just so cool; we can do/learn many things with science!!!
The periodic table was once called the elemental table and over time, they created toxic manmade...... Urine is uric chlor acid nature salt to chloride. NATURE'S lead was magnetite and haematite. The philosopher stone.
Yes because , gold is a soft metal. Very small particles of it which one cannot see through the eyes get dissolved in liquids. But there is no loss of it in high quantity but some there is some gold loss.
The SO2 would react with the water to make H2SO3, which would probably go on to react with the Na2CO3 to make sodium sulfite (Na2SO3). The full equations being: SO2 + H2O = H2SO3 H2SO3 + Na2CO3 = NaSO3 + CO2 + H2O I am not sure about that, but it seems very plausible.
All that liquid turns into something I didn't expect, not that I didn't expect gold, but gold so small. I was thinking of much more, This channel amazes me with every video, great work.
TERRMINE Something that you can use to smash together atoms at high speeds to fuse nuclei and create new atoms. Using this, you could create gold atoms from any random atoms. I know of one that can create 2 million gold atoms per second, but while that may seem like a lot, it is really not that much. For example, if you left it on for 50 million years, you would only get about 1 gram of gold.
Antonio Morar No, I just like Bronze. Bronze is in my eyes, better than gold. You can use it to make things, it's a precious alloy, and I have a collection of Vietnamese, and Chinese bronze coins
I could see a gold 'heist' movie where they take the gold and convert it into chloroauric acid - and transport the gold out through the drain, I'm not chemist though, I'll wager chloroauric acid would eat through the pipes heh heh. Still could serve for a real neat screen play. This REALLY changed how I look at elements. I love these videos. Just amazes me we can model what happens at atomic level so well. Of course though when Seaborg created gold out of bismuth, that really changed how I saw elements as not 'fixed'. Same with that radon experiment where alpha particles turned radon into - if I recall- nitrogen and oxygen atoms - whichever it helped me see atoms as not 'fixed' but changeable.

You can transform atoms of other elements into the one you want. Gold can in fact be made from other metals, but you do need very strong nuclear energy to do so. Of course this is not cost effective at all and if it was companies would be producing synthetic gold.
***** just like synthetic gems, synthetic gold would cost less. And would probably drive the price of gold way down. causing silver to explode in value. and at that point the governments would start taxing metals (silver, palladium platinum) and restricting/banning ownership of silver, palladium and platinum.
***** I kind of have to agree with Joe on this one. I don't know whether it would cause all the things he described after the the first statement, but companies have synthesised diamonds chemically in order to make tools that would cut through almost anything. The diamonds that are created cost the company less than buying genuine diamonds. Also, jewellers said that the way the synthesised diamond shined (or whatever) was different from natural genuine diamonds. Anyway, Joe's first statement: correct, second and third statement: maybe?, last statement: absolutely not, what the hell is he talking about?

not everybody i had to do some research , your talking about lithium as an ingredient in meth production , you could have just said so and saved me the effort lol
Actually, pure lead has been turned into elemental gold before, but it's so ungodly expensive to make it that there's no practical use for the process as of now.
Can I buy this stuff? Or will the chemicals be worth more than the gold? Because I would mass produce these and buy a super-torch. I would sell them for about $5 a nugget.
Hi NurdRage, Just curious, if this were to be done with 250 grams of 99% pure Chloroauric acid, how much gold would be present at the end of the process and at what purity? Thanks alot. :)
Because of its excessive cost (it does after all contain actual gold) it is not used in any form of dye or pigment. In addition, its not stable when used with the solvents and carriers that most dyes and paints use, so even if gold was as common as iron we likely still wouldn't use it as a pigment.

I am in Form 4 and I an interested in Chemistry. Thank you for your sharing and I am happy to know a long chemical equation.
As said in the video, it is chemically impossible to turn lead into gold. The only known processes are nuclear, not chemical.

If so, is the loss is greater by heat refining or chemical extraction?

How much gold was recovered after adding sodium metabi.. ? 1.5 g or less?
Would the amount earned from the gold cover the cost?
Not at all.

Can Sodium bisulfite be synthesized this way?
2 SO2 + Na2CO3 + H2O = 2 NaHSO3 + CO2

i don't know
The SO2 would react with the water to make H2SO3, which would probably go on to react with the Na2CO3 to make sodium sulfite (Na2SO3).

Just curious, what are the dangers of chloroauric acid, is it corrosive or anything like HF or HNO3?
Like other acids, they can cause irritations to skin and eyes and possibly burns if concentrated.
They also somewhat toxic to the enviroment.

carat-wise? would the purity be the same as the purity of the Chloroauric acid? cheers

+patronsaintofpoison So you're basically saying I'm going to get added to a government watchlist just because I have an element collection going on?
i have a question how much does it cost for the ingrediants?
The title should be "extract gold from chloroauric acid".
It’s not an extraction because it’s not elemental.
is the any difference in properties between natural gold and the elemental gold?
Let's make gold from pure energy ;D
good luck with that :p
Pfft. Did it. The only problem I had was when the Pringles can I was using to condense all the energy from the Tsar Bomb I dropped in it caught fire.
Very cool! How much did all the ingredients combined cost?
yes!
im gonna be rich !
the acid is probably pretty expensive

Yes it is.
Does it work if I start with acetic acid?
They don’t contain gold atoms and so can’t be used
where did you get the chemicals? it no be in description....
Great video. Question - what sort of result would we get if we used bicarbonate instead of bisulphite?
pretty sure none if I‘m not mistaken bc the bicarbonate can‘t really be oxidized too well
CAN UREA BE USED TO PRECIPITATE THE ELEMENTAL GOLD WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS?

Can I buy this stuff? Or will the chemicals be worth more than the gold? Because I would mass produce these and buy a super-torch. I would sell them for about $5 a nugget.
so if you buy Chloroauric Acid it cost the same as gold or cheaper?
I watched this video and another one how to break down gold.. Can this be used on computer parts that have gold on them?
Wait, so is the gold powder stuff the same price as regular gold?
Hi NurdRage,
Just curious, if this were to be done with 250 grams of 99% pure Chloroauric acid, how much gold would be present at the end of the process and at what purity?
Thanks alot. :)
so then u can sell it and get alot of money lagally?
is chloroauric acid expensive then I take it?
why would you add the sodium metabisulfate one drop at a time?
can a induction heater get the necessary temperature to melt gold?
Do you think you would get a larger yield from electroplating or doing the same reaction you did under reflux conditions?
where can i buy chloroauric acid and what is it cost?
I need help. Do I use a hot plate to refine the gold choloride by inserting the sodium metabisulphite into to make the gold powder? please contact me.
Just a question but about how much is 1.5g of gold worth? and how much of the mass is lost during heating it?
so is this cheaper to do or should we just buy bars?
How much gold did you loose from the orignal 1.5g? ie- how much did you have at the end
I never said it was absolutely impossible. I said it was *chemically* impossible. The process you are describing is not chemical, it's nuclear.
hello nurdrage. may i know what it the name of that thing u put on, on top of the vacuum flask? at 1.56
And can you use potassium metabisulfite instead sodium metabisulfite?
why do you have to melt it down to get the "shine" out ?
What percentage of the original weight of the gold coin did you recover?
Does sodium chloride create a precipitation reaction in kral water?
Is there any gold atoms lost in the process? (Enough to change the weight in .0 of grams?)
What would happen if instead of adding the sodium metabisulfite drop by drop you just dumped it all in at once?
The reaction is probably very exothermic and the aurochloric acid could evaporate if ot gets too hot
could you use potassium metabisulfite?
so there is no profit from doing this?
Not unless you are a stockbroker, no. You'd only get the money for extracting the gold in net profit, not the value of the gold.
So hypothetically speaking. If I multiplied these numbers following alongside the same ratios, I'd be able to produce much more gold?
is that pure gold?
Could i use Potassium metabisulfite instead of sodium?
Solidified Cholorauric acid has a very nice orange hue. Can it be/is it used in dyes/paints etc.?

How much would this gold be worth?
this is really interesting for me because we're learning about chemical reactions and moles etc.etc. in my chem class~
Is this a good method of refining gold from oldmother boards? Has it been done to death?
If I were to sell this would it be like how regular gold is priced at or would it be less
Isn't it impossible to create an element?
What was the yield? Did you get 100% back?
is it possible too use any other redox chemical than sodium metabisullide?
Are you telling me you put 10 ml of water drop by drop for over an hour?
