I just finished watching the entire discussion and every one of the panelists were great. I’ve learned so much good information about the history of Haiti . Also Claude you’re absolutely right about Haitians being very special. Growing up in New York I’ve had the opportunity to meet people from all parts of the Caribbean but there was something special about Haitians that really separated them from the others. Renee you did an outstanding job as a moderator and your future looks very bright. Keep up the good work girl.
At 18:26 Lavalas did not have macro and "micro" economic policy? OF COURSE they did. That is why the US exiled President Aristide TWICE. Also, who cares what Anthony Blinken "tasked" Haitian leaders to do? You say that as if it was the logical point of presentation. Blinken is nobody to be taskin anyone in Haiti, and presenting him as a legitimate Haitian emperor encourages US viewers to see such arrogance as apropriate.
Reform failed because it tried to impose "Western values" to a country that is unique from a cultural perspective. If by "western values" you mean opression, obedience to US businesses and legalized fraud, yes.
38:20 Is spot on regarding the racial animosity. I see it in the diaspora all the time.Hiwever at 40:53 he says that "everything" that happens is a consequence of the murder of Desalines. I think 1) French historic extortion, done thanks to US collaboration and 2) US murdering countless leftists leaders all around Haiti and propoing up right wing deathsquads feom 1800's till today had a lot more to do with Haiti's current condition than Desalines murder.
Mr. Robert is absolutely correct 200% on point. Only a Haïtian knows the dynamics of the issues in Haiti 🇭🇹. He knows Haïtian history to a T. Arab, Sirian, Germans, Jews, Europeans, Labenese. people don’t want to be intellectually honest about the Oligarchy in the country really going on the island. We must neutralize those Oligarchies if we Don, nothing will ever change. Kick them all off the island now!!!!!!!
Excellent and insightful discussion about Haiti. I learned from this discussion for the first time about Haiti’s contributions to the USA and the Americas too. Thank you to all the panelists!
Wow !!Well done Broward University. One of the most intelligent and insightful panel I have listened to each contributor provided immense value towards the understanding of the Haitian experience.
@@wosenaolivier-smith7730 ; If you called it debts , it can’t be paid , keep on digging what HAÏTI did when Simon Bolivar went & stayed there for months , to free most Latin America.
Unnamed & innocent people were murdered, killed and lives were destroyed subsequently after the Assassination. When are we gonna talk about the social, cultural & educational ramifications and the unnecessary lost of life, economic & political instability after this tragic yet tactical event of our country? How must we prepare for the Progressive Sustainability of our Future?

At 41:18 --SPOT ON - the Syrian, German, French oligarchy IS the reason for the mysery, but only thanks to US support.

I would like to know what Renee wants to pursue, after hearing the people on the panel.
Ur right ! even a buzzing mosquito in HAÏTI must have the permission of the State Department to buzz .

They will pay gangs to protect the oligarchy has to go
The Oligarchy are behind the scenes
Controlling the government must be eliminated
That’s the only recourse
Simple- read "State and Revolution".
