New subscriber here. I really enjoyed this tag! Wanted to mention that one thing I love to find in used books is an inscription from the giver to the person who received the book. It’s such a wonderful personal touch!
Jen, this was a great vlog. Thanks for taking the time to pull this together. I know it is not easy. *Also, your home and library are really beautiful.* Funny you should mention Girl On The Train. The hardcover of that book was on my shelf since it was first published. I read it and for some reason I kept the darn thing. When I did my first book unhaul, I got rid of it. It's in one of my tote bags in my trunk, destined for a LFL near me! I hesitated about getting rid of it but now I'm glad I did.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed this. And I think letting go of The Girl on the Train is a great move! If you ever did want to reread it, I'm sure the library will have it!
Many similar options as mine. I remember when Gina Stanyer said she didn't like the pages facing out. I yelled "YES!!! That TRULY ANNOY me. How can you ever find a book???? I agree, they aren't really readers. I know someone who does that and it looks SO STUPID! Even from a decorative g point of view, it's so blah. How terrible about that L.F.L.!!😑 I like it when I find something in a used book that I bought. Esp. if it's really old. One time I found a violin lesson card from 1929/1930 in a book I bought in a resale shop. How funny about David's undies!😂 Thanks Jenn!
Thanks for the tag! I've been enjoying watching these videos, so it will be fun to make one. Although I'm not easily annoyed in this realm, so mine might be kind of boring. 😆That Little Free Library without the door is ridiculous. Why even bother?!
As far as little free libraries (LFL) are concerned, I’ll quote The Rolling Stones by saying, “Gimme Shelter!” There’s a seniors’ home nearby with an LFL. It has a door, which is good but no glass on the door. It’s open to the elements. In Canada. Snow, sleet, hail, ice.🌨Need I go on? Not to mention that they don’t plow a pathway through the snow to get to the LFL. I don’t know how old people are supposed to slog their way through the snowbanks to get to the books.
Hi. I've enjoyed watching everyone's "what annoys you." I've seen a Booktuber who has some of her books that are on the shelf with pages facing forward. I've wondered if she turns the books that she's read like that. It would be a great way to see what books you haven't read because you see the spines! I've toyed around with doing this.
Hi Jen! I’m Kelly and I created this tag. Fortunately, someone told me you did the tag. I can’t believe everyone’s stories about Little Free Libraries! Some crazy things in or, in your case, missing from the Little Free Libraries. I love deckled edges as well. I thought everyone did, so it’s been so surprising to hear so many don’t! And ephemera in a book, in my mind, is NOT annoying. Really enjoyed your video. 💛
Damaged books? I never see those 😩 😮Sometimes I just try to see that someone is giving their best effort and maybe they want to share their love of reading and that’s the best they can do. ❤ Hey Ivy 🐾
Ivy says hi back! I gave them the benefit of the doubt until the books became sodden blocks of pulpy mess and then I lost my patience. I’m hoping they maybe fix it up at some point. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
@@amusicalbookworm My best friend lives in Whittier and my in laws live in Laguna Niguel so we try to get down to SoCal fairly regularly. And we are hoping to finally take my son to Disneyland in the fall (Covid derailed our original plans!).
Love your responses! I recently picked up Mastering the Art of French Murder in a LFL and the inside page had some nautical notations - very interesting. I try to leave a little note in all books I pass along - especially if it's one that is part of series - or suggest reading something else by the author with it. I CANNOT believe that sorry excuse for a LFL near you - I think I'd have to re-route my travels to avoid seeing the destruction -- those poor books ☹. hope you're having a good reading month so far! Jacqueline
When you said, “Nobody puts boxer shorts on the statue of David” I burnt my tongue on my tea. Hilarious! 🤣
I have no idea where I came up with that! 😂😂😂
@@jensreadinglifeBut we're glad you did!
Hilarious 😂😂😂
Absolutely loved your responses to these! And I adore this little sunshine yellow book nook you’re in. It’s lovely and cozy 🥰
Thank you so much for watching…I had fun doing this. And I love my reading room, it’s my favorite spot in my house. 💛
Yay! So nice to see Ivy! She is lovely 😻
Thanks!

I like Ivy! What a cute name! I love chunky cats! They’re my favorites.😊
Chunky cats are the best! 😁
I am thrilled to have met Ivy! She's so sweet. Jen, thank you for another wonderful video. Karin
Thank you so much! ☺️

Love that you found a violin lesson card from so long ago! That's amazing!
Loved your answers! And love your reading room!!
Thank you so much 🤗
Great video! I loved your answers. I am also going to need a statue of David with boxer shorts lol…
lol…I’m not sure why that popped into my head! 😂
Fun tag! I subscribe to A Musical Bookworm and Waterbear Reads - I will look for their videos too.
I hope they do it, it was fun! 😊
Loved hearing your answers, Jen!!
Thank you! This was fun to do! 😊

Right?!? I wish they would take it down. And I doubt your answers will be boring.😉
Hello to you & Ivy 😎📚👍
Hello back from both of us!
Things I loved about this episode, besides the book talk:
The cameo appearance!
The Emma Bridgewater mug.
The fact that you used the word “behooves.”
Aw thanks! ☺️ I once had someone tell me I “use really big words when I talk”. 🤷🏻♀️😂

Oh goodness! That sounds even worse than the one I complained about! 🤦🏻♀️

I hadn’t thought of that! I separate all my read from unread books but I guess they would be one way to keep track of them.

Clearly I am still figuring this all out as I should have tagged you in this video! Thanks for creating such a fun tag. I had a great time doing it.
@@jensreadinglife You’ll figure it out! 😃💛
Thanks a lot for the tag ❤❤ I will try to do it very soon 🎉
You're welcome!
I love the tags. Thanks for doing this😊
You are so welcome! 😁

Thank you! And I'm sure she agrees as well! 😂

Ivy is adorable ❤
Thank you! And it’s a good thing cuz she can be a bit of a stinker! 😂
Thanks for the tag! I didn’t realize you were a Californian - me too! What in the world, why would anyone build an unprotected little free library?! 😂
I have no idea why they built it that way! Mind boggling! And how fun you are in CA too! Are you in northern or southern? I’m in the Bay Area. 😊
@@jensreadinglife southern! I’m about an hour inland from LA.

I love that you leave little notes in the books you pass on! Fun! Yes, I wish they’d just take down that LFL. Or improve it!
Yes yes yes with "you should read xyz". Nope. You arent the boss of me. 😅
😂😂😂
What really annoys me is re-issues where they change the title, why!!!
Oh yes! That's another one. No need for title changes!
