    loved catching up on what you're currently reading ... I've been reading thru some of my Susan Branch books, trying to experience some spring like pictures - while waiting for it to 'happen' here in Maine! have a great weekend 🫖💐

    It’s great to hear you mention Miranda Mills. I love her content. She was my “gateway drug” channel into BookTube.😆 When I discovered your channel, I was pleased to see that you and Miranda share similar tastes in reading material. And tea.🫖

    Hi Jen, I just loved this! I also have the 114,000 happy things and it is highlighted all year way through. I read it years ago and loved it. My main reads right now are a middle grade called Wildwood, and The Heir of Redclyffe, by Charlotte Mary Young, because of Miriam Elizabeth. Also my little books that I dip into are a poetry book called Buzz Words, the poetry of insects, and a nature read, The Robin, a Biography by Stephen Moss and a beautiful book of poetry by Robert Frost. Also a Mary Oliver and another I can’t recall right now. I am greatly influenced by A Reader’s Almanac, and want to read so much of what Celeste recommends. Oh, Wendell Berry. Always more to love.😊❤ Thanks so much.

    All of these books sound amazing. I don't love George Elliot, but I like the Idea of reading MiddleMarch as was published. That would be a fun way to read it.

    I have about 22 books on the go right now. A lot are nonfiction or I had to take them back to the library and wasn't done but never got back to checking them out. I keep telling myself that I need to focus on finishing some of them but then a new readathon shows up or a book club pick and I push them off again. ☺

    I'm also halfway through a very battered copy of A few green leaves and reading my persephone copy of Greenery street which I am loving. I'll be reading more persephone this month, as it is their 25th anniversary. I'm also hoping to pop along to the festival taking place in Bath.

      Oh, I am so jealous you are going to go to the Persephone festival! Have an amazing time. I am hoping to get to a few of the Persephone books on my shelf in the next couple of months.

    I picked up Middlemarch a couple of years ago because I wanted to read My Life in Middlemarch. I enjoyed both books. I love your idea of reading it as it was serialized. Last night I finished Red Shirts by John Scalzi which was great. It is based on the fact that characters on Star Trek wearing red shirts were always the first to die. But what if the red shirts (on a different show) realize what is happening and try to stop it? Great fun. And I have Jacob's Room sitting on my TBR pile - can't wait to get to it.

    Loved this video, love your tea mug. I am a huge Poetry reader. I have been since 3rd grade. I really enjoy Mary Oliver. I have some of her bks.including the same one you have. I really want to get her volume on dogs ( the name escapes me, dog on cover). I have always loved dogs and had German Shepherds for yrs. They are so smart, so therefore easy to train. I miss not having a dog. Have you ever read Alcott's bks. " Rose In Bloom", Eight Cousins" or " The Inheritance "? All very good. Miranda and her Mom (Mum) Donna did " The Art Of Keeping Secrets" on their Comfort Book Club about 3 months ago? Those are so fun to listen to. Have you read any of Henry W. Longfellow's poems? O, love him. One of my favorites of his is The Children's Hour" The Wreck Of The Hespperus, Christmas Bells,The Village Blacksmith, Hawthorne; oh, just SO MANY good poems by him. I think my favorite Poet is Robert Frost, though. He is SUCH a New Englander, which is funny for being born and lived in Calif.for a few yrs. Yet he REALLY understands and breathes New England. The nature, the people. My fave of his is "BIRCHES". His description of swinging on birches is exquisitely PERFECT! I know, I use to be a swinger of birches😁🤗. Books I read A bit every day or so, or on my nightstand or next to my reading chair are: The House At Pooh Corner, A Poem For Everyday Of The Year, my Bible, The Book Nerd(small funny bk.) and a couple of book catalogs.Sometimes another poetry bk. I ordered Illyrian Spring from Amazon 3 times starting in mid-March!!😑😑 They messed up ROYALLY, I was angry and I am a prime member. It happened with ANOTHER order! Well Jenn, this was lovely. Do it again please.Also show us any bookish things you buy! 🤗

    I am reading The Dry by Jane Harper, an Australian author, but I have not finished it yet. I can see why Australians like Jane Harper because she can really write about a male detective and you'd swear it was written by a man. I can not explain why her book is compelling but it keeps me reading it and turning the pages. I don't really like popular detective stories so I am surprised that I like it. If you want to read something different and your library has a copy, I recommend any of her books.

    This is just my opinion, of course, but I think reading it as it came out in the 19th century is not a good idea. For me, personally, I read it the first time and did not read it quickly or, I should say, regularly, and I lost the the thread of the book because of its size and the characters. But that’s just me! 😊

    • @jensreadinglife
      @jensreadinglife  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can see how that could be - and you have to read in a way that works best for you! So far I’m enjoying taking my time with it and I like the anticipation of waiting to continue it. Hopefully I’ll keep feeling that way! 😊
