    First, you will get a summary of this episode, if you don't want to watch this juicer review in its entirety.

    You will learn the differences in price, function, warranty, and customer support of both machines.
    Next, John will compare each model, part by part so you can learn the differences and similarities between the juicers. You will learn how these juicers work and the parts of the juicer that can influence how well the juicer works and why your juicer may clog or jamb.
    You will then learn how to assemble and disassemble each juicer. It is important to assemble each juicer properly, or it will not turn on due to a built-in safety switch.
    Next, you will learn how many decibels each juicer emits when running, so you can determine which juicer is louder and how much more noise it makes. This can be important if you want to juice in your home while others are sleeping or you have paper-thin walls.
    Next, John and Nico will do a juice-off comparison test, and juice equal amounts of organic watermelon and jicama in each juicer. You will learn how long it took to juice in each of these slow juicers and which juicer took more work to juice with. You will get a comparison of yields and discover which juicer made more juice and how much foam and pulp were put into the juice.
    You will learn if there is a significant difference in the taste of these two juicers and learn which juicer John & Nico prefer and why.
    Finally, Nico will share which juicer he prefers and John will share his preference and recommendation if you should buy the Nama J2 Juicer or Omega VSJ843 juicer. You will also learn if you should upgrade to the Nama J2 juicer if you already own the Omega VSJ843 juicer.

    I bought my VSJ 6 years ago. (nama hasn’t even been around that long) The on/off switch part broke a few weeks back. Omega sent me a Brand New VSJ within a week and they took care of shipping the old one and the new one. nama’s parts warranty is only 2 years and I’ve read you are responsible for shipping after the first year. Read the fine print people! OMEGA FOR THE WIN!

      I agree. Mine had the same problem, the on/off switch was broken. They replaced the whole machine of course mainly because of COVID.

    It may be my VSJ bias but based on the points most important to me (warranty, ease of use, yield, flavor) the VSJ wins in 3 of the 4 categories. I’m also a leafy green juicer. I tend to do spinach and/or kale with pineapple and green apples. Hearing that the VSJ does better with leafy greens is another notch in the win column. I do love the idea of a decreased prep time. It taking a bit longer to clean isn’t a bad trade off at all if it means not having to cut fruit and veggies into tiny pieces. That said, if cutting fruit/veggies into tiny pieces means higher yield and a more robust flavor then I’m willing to make that sacrifice.
    And finally there’s the warranty. I haven’t had to use mine yet but the rubber flap on my VSJ is beginning to tear, so, I may be having to use it soon. After having my juicer for 3 years it’s good to know I’ve got another 12 before being out of luck.
    The Nama J2 seems like a fine juicer, especially being so similar to the VSJ in so many ways. I’m sure it will serve plenty people very well. But for me, having less prep time and being able to dump massive amounts of produce in at one time (as wonderful as that sounds) doesn’t justify giving up on a 15 yr warranty, a higher juice yield and a more robust flavor (and I need my leafy greens). VSJ843 gets the dub, IMO.

      The warranty is a scam because you have to pay shipping on the rubber piece. It ends up being more expensive than just buying the rubber piece new.

    Been using the J2 for a month straight, I make about 64oz juice a day (2 quart containers). I juice leafy greens, citrus fruits, lots of celery, root vegetables, and watermelon with the green rind. So far so good. I mainly chose the J2 is because it cuts down on prep time. Most of the vegetables I juice will only require 1 cut at most (if the product is too long). As many say, the best juicer is the one you use. And for my lazy self, the J2 works for me. Only downside about the J2 is that they charge a ton for international shipping.

    Hey John. Another possible explanation of the juice volume difference could be that you weighed the jicama + watermelon to equal but you might have had more watermelon in the Omega juice test. watermelon has a much higher water content than Jicama. So this would have resulted in more "juice" coming out of the Omega. Next time weigh equal amounts of each ingredient vs. only caring about the total weight. Thanks! Awesome video!

    • @discountjuicers
      @discountjuicers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The weight on both were identical. I cut the watermelon in half and each juicer got half, same with the jicama. Another thing I noticed was that nico dropped a piece of watermelon on the floor so it never got juiced. I will do a rematch J2 vs vsj843 juicing carrots and celery in a different video. My assessment stands- I believe the ordering and/or how you load the hopper matters, as that will change how effective the juice is.

    I didn't realize that you had to remove so much of the watermelon rind. I thought you could just slice the watermelon and put the rind in the juicer too. That must be very labor intensive to eliminate almost all of the rind completely. Never juiced before. There's a lot more work than I realized.

    • @discountjuicers
      @discountjuicers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      The rind CAN be juiced. It will make the juice less sweet. In this case, I use the rind to catch pests in my garden, which is more valuable to me instead of the nutrition from drinking the rind in this case.

      We were in contact with Nick (mostly) then when nothing happened there came a Julia, next, then someone I forgot the name as it was just once and last it was Erin.

    • @discountjuicers
      @discountjuicers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes. Tips: 1. select the most hard and firm pineapple to juice. Soft ones can jam worse.
      2. Cut up pineapple properly. cut out the core (center of pineapple) and cut the outside flesh (non-core pieces) into chunks. then slice up core into 1/4" slices as the core can help prevent and cause clogging so it should be mixxed when loading the hopper with the non-core pieces.

      Ripest, sweetest, best tasting pineapple is inherently softer.
      Peel the soft ripe pineapple.
      Stand it upright on cutting board.
      Wear clean rubber or vinyl gloves.
      Cut THIN vertical slices off the perimeter.
      This cuts through the pineapple fibers,
      Keep turning the pineapple as you remove thin slices.
      Juice the thin slices.

    Would be interesting to see what happens if you put the J2 pulp back through through the J2 and see if it'll press any extra juice out when the Jicama pulp mixes with the watermelon pulp.

      Wish good cold-press juicers were cheaper. $500 is hella expensive versus a like $100-200 centrifugal juicer. Why can't someone make like a $200 cold-press juicer similar to the J2?

      Handling chunky produce at low speeds using augers is inherently more complex than shredding produce at high speeds using centrifuge technique.

    Poor Omega.. my good ole previously top juicer (Omega 3) is no longer recommended... sad... oh well... 15 years later it is still going strong and I dont' mind chopping some veggies up to dump in... takes whole carrots easily, same for celery... quarter apples... it is still great!!

    Good movie, but I see that you are talking about fruit sugar as harmful, nothing could be more wrong, it is a completely different substance than table sugar or artificial fructose syrups etc.

      Please watch my video why fruit juice is not as bad as you think.. that being said, i believe vegetable juicers are superior. th-cam.com/video/Z-roisAZ9yE/w-d-xo.html

      @@discountjuicers No problem, I am familiar with the subject, and in this video you say directly that fruit sugar is harmful. In my opinion, fruit, fresh fruit juices and whether natural honey are natural and the best food for humans and they do not harm us at all. Vegetables are also great - in the form of juice they are very nutritious food and if eaten whole they are indigestible, we will only absorb as much as we squeeze in our mouth, and the rest will pass through the digestive system undigested, cleansing it, therefore vegetables are called "intestine brush".

    My mama juices juicy fruit better than any juicer and I have been juicing with various juicers for over 45 years. But the nama parts have continued to break and it’s not PBA approved. My Nama juicer is so broken up I need to throw it away. Because I loved it I recommend it and clients who juice a lot have been having the same issues. The angel is way way way better but doesn’t juice watermelon well
