I was looking forward to you reacting to this piece since you funnily responded to someone calling upon you in the comments section shortly after it was released. I feel like you got the implied meaning of the transition between the phases pretty much spot on. The word usage of "ascending" at roughly 10:48 in particular is especially spot on in regards to the context of what is happening when this song plays in its intended environment/moment. As for the actual context for this piece, it's something along the lines of this (omitting any specific names): "You" have failed numerous times, many (personal) sacrifices have been made, all in hopes of finding a way of stopping the ongoing apocalypse that is happening right now. After all "your" struggles, your lonesome road finally leads you to the summit. And there, is an unearthly existence far more powerful than anything ever encountered. Acknowledging "you", the existence deems "you" as worthy enough to manifest itself in front of you and presents you a simple test; pass it, and end the ongoing apocalypse. The rest of the song is "you" trying to fight to pass the test, determined to keep going forward, as the obstacle of the test pushes you beyond your limits, until eventually you ascend beyond it and overcome the test, emphasized by the strong appearance of this very tuned, slightly upbeat bit of the piece, which starts at 9:17, and more than likely is supposed to represent the figure in question, overcoming its tribulation by triumphantly marking everything (in the music piece) with it's own self. This piece of music always felt like a very particularly well crafted and fitting musical story to me, and you yourself also clearly catching on to a story/progress being implied within it, even without seen this part of the game yourself, just reinforces this view of mine.

As usual, Marco nails it with his analysis. the chapter which this song came from actually because Lee really, really pissed off over what happened back when he and the other Gray Raven members fought against The Twins. This man really hold his grudge against them to the point he asks for a custom frame and weapon to surpass The Twin...which in turn makes his frame become the peak technology of Babylonia. I've been waiting for this one since I saw you talk about it in the comments! I love your interpretations and they feel on point as usual! I love how you pinpointed "looking into your future" and the melancholic determination and the eventual release that this track conveys. This fight is a test for Lee, he needs to prove that he and humanity itself can eventually overcome the calamities in front of them and one day get back home. He's a reserved individual who doesn't like to share his feelings with others but just like everyone he deeply, deeply cares about the people he loves and will desperately try to protect them, and he has been VERY pissed at his inability to protect his close ones when they needed it. He once made a promise that the gray ravens will always stay together, and he will make sure that it transcends even time itself. Even while they are separated, he realizes that he is never alone and the oath they made keeps him going even in the face of a god-like being. "Recalling the faint light that was once mine" "Wishing to shine upon you forevermore, hoping to lighten your unfading sorrow" "Let our vows dispel the gods, let our promise overwrite logic" "I will dismantle our tumultuous fate and change the destiny I saw / Would it be alright if I met your gaze like before? / And we called each other by our names once more." - from Lee's official CN character song
Your reaction at 9:17 was so genuine. That is my favorite part of the song and I had a very similar response the first time I heard it. Easily became my favorite PGR track when it came out.

I said so in my last post but I love how you really show how you feel the music! Also You lead to quite a few great soundtracks for games I didn't know.
Again, through music, you hit the nails on the head without much context. You need to listen to more of Kinoko (the female vocalist in this track) in your future sessions with Vanguard Sound Studio's music.

A lot of amazing music from video games. I'm an audiophile myself who actually has high-end headphones and speakers, I've listen to multiple genres from the 1960s(particularly around Beatles), up to modern stuff like EDM. And I can say video game OSTs are definitely on my usual track list of the day and PGR OSTs are definitely one of my favorite OSTs as of recent, considering I'm much into EDM, Classical/Symphony music, they really hit all my marks and my god listening Narwhal and UnderDimension, two of my favorite tracks on PGR, on a Focal Utopia just hits so hard every damn time it makes me repeat the track over and over again. Heck I don't even play PGR, but damn the music is just amazing. These are one of the songs that are making me want to go into music production independently.
Dang, you don't play PGR? I won't say it is a masterpiece but if you skip the first 10 chapters it only gets better and better from there on, and this chapter in particular is just so epic for a lack of better words. Peak writing and direction and I know it will only improve from what I've seen in the CN server :^]
I just love how part 3 sounds absolutely *POWERFUL* with the sound going louder and stronger to show the power of "her" with the electronics eating up pretty much all the melodic sounds before leaving nothing but themselves (shipwave it is, I think?) only to go into a drop MOST powerful at 9:00 (note: in the fight she also does her most powerful attack on that drop, making it increasingly epic)

you HAVE to try listening to "Leap Wishes and Blissade" by Tantei feat. Keiichi Okabe (also called Two's song), a song from Drakengard 3 (series that takes place before Nier)
The bits where the song seems to go off beat is incredibly interesting to me. It feels a little off putting which is the point I'm guessing. Then it becomes a little inspirational (not sure if that's the right word) or upbeat.
You should revisit armored core. There is a song by them called DIRTYWORKER ft. FATMAN that I think you would really appreciate its lyrical tone and representation of said "dirtyworker" captured perfectly.
Interesting review. Makes me wonder if you'll enjoy taking a listen of NIKKE's soundtrack. Cosmograph made and/or directed some magnificent pieces, EDM or not, and some are just so emotional that it would be curious to see you infer the context from them without knowing anything about the fairly robust story and setting of the game. I can offer you to try "The Goddess Fall", which is the glorious main menu theme; "The Collector", "Marian", and "Ominous Cross" combo, as they are linked together by one plot thread, "Pilgrim" for its amazing vocals, as well as some of the Over Zone's (half-anniversary story event) songs like Goddess of Victory. Also, I recommend "Eden". Its serene feel is just out of this world.
Hi, recently discovered your channel via your discussion on Terraria Calamity mod music. If you want to hear some really great pieces beloved by those who've heard it, look up the music of Phyrnna. She is known for her music for the popular flash game series Epic Battle Fantasy. If I had to recommend any of her music, itd be the final boss themes, but Fallen Blood is likely her most iconic. But dont discount Divine Madness or Blaze of Iris. Even some regular battle themes go hard.
Your description of this reminds me of one from Nier: Automata. The city ruins music? I forget what it's called. I think it was called rays of light, with all these fairly random parts coming together to make a beautiful piece of chaos? Does it do that for you at all?

I always love to listening how you describe your feeling toward PGR music! Great game with Great Ost It just need some more time for this game to shine more~
Glad you enjoy it!
Yo why the hell is there no views here?
I LOVE UNDER DIMENSION
It isn't Public yet
@@MarcoMeatball U mean I got a special place here? Awesome
kinoko slays the vocals
You Genuinely should heard Blue archive music. It's glorious
Im so glad you're listening to more pgr music the game has completely enraptured me in its story. If you haven't already played it, id like to recommend another game called Gris. Its such a beautiful and heartfelt game that doesn't take too long to complete and its bpth visually and audibly gorgeous. I think you'd enjoy it a lot if you ever decide to play it.
I HIGHLY recommend pgrs ost exorcism from vanguard sounds , the name of the song perfectly represents how it sounds!
One of my absolute favourites from PGR and Vanguard, super glad to see you reacting to and enjoying it so thoroughly.
I really like this new Music "Meme"down style. 😆
Once again, thank you Marco for reacting to PGR music, it's good for the soul and heart.
Hope you can react also to Nirin no Hana (Two Flowers), The Puppet, Dream with you, Dancing Tonight, Wraith and many more as well.
All pgr music is on my list but these are good reminders to look into!
@@MarcoMeatball yess sir
Revelation would be great for your next reaction. A real banger
I've been waiting for something that I'm interested in, finally some PGR ost review!
Can't wait for the reaction for Honkai's new CG and OST
There's so much good music out there!!!! :d and yes da capo once I'm moved and feeling better!
my go to song when doing office work, especially the voice part
Well this is insane musicand its like we venture to deep inside of someone mind the strugle the emptynest fron this person mind that show to us is so perfect fit with the song structure love it
Just got to listen to this and I love it so much! I'm a new player (just about to start Lamia's chap) and I think this song is only on the CN server for now? Lol We should get the story for Lee (one of the Gray Raven, gunner guy) by the end of this year. I'm so excited!!! I love your analysis as always Marco! I see a different side to the song that I would normally wouldn't notice by myself! Thank you for making this video.
The beat that starts around 2:56 somehow reminds me very much of Disposal Unit from the Darktide OST. Maybe that's why it goes so hard. 🤘
Ya!!!!!
Please listen to "Out of My Hand" from the Left Unsaid pv. I'm sure you gonna love the violin drop
Guy just described a whole chapter story by listening ost 😅
Although without context it's just script that story will follow
Yooo WHAT DID I JUST MISSED. I didn't get the notification bruhhhh. Thanks Marco , u make my morning time a lot better 😂😂
No problem!!
May I request GhostFinal - Holy Moonlight? c:
yo, give Tenebre Rosso Sangue a listen
it's another ultrakill song (shocker, i know)
I've recorded it just give me time
@@MarcoMeatball holy guacamole that was fast
I feel that the last climax of this song is a bit like "Chrono Trigger". I accidentally heard part of "Chrono Trigger" and found that "Under Dimension" and "Chrono Trigger" are a bit similar.
loved the video as usual, plus i noticed some funny editing appear more in your videos, makes your videos that extra bit more fun to watch! thanks marco very cool!
Glad you like them!
Exorcism from Punishing Gray Raven is also S-tier
I love the description LMAOOOO
Long live Lee Fire God
I was waiting for this video since i love this song.
this song is too good, lovely video!
video editor went hard🤣
bro i agree with this, the song slaps so hard
you HAVE to try listening to "Leap Wishes and Blissade" by Tantei feat. Keiichi Okabe (also called Two's song), a song from Drakengard 3 (series that takes place before Nier)
Blissade's cool af
Man if you're gonna play this after it comes on PC you sir are in for a RIDE especially after chapter nineish
Currently on chapter 2 on mobile
@@MarcoMeatball Hopefully they allow linking of accounts from mobile to PC since I am up to date with current content on global
The bits where the song seems to go off beat is incredibly interesting to me.
It feels a little off putting which is the point I'm guessing. Then it becomes a little inspirational (not sure if that's the right word) or upbeat.
Honestly, I’m thrilled you’ve been covering these pieces. Super excited to see some Heaven Burns Red after you’ve caught up with your backlog!
you should also review "last resort" from P:GR :) would love to see your reaction on that
He already did actually!
@@mohy3396 and it was awesome :D i just saw it
You should revisit armored core. There is a song by them called DIRTYWORKER ft. FATMAN that I think you would really appreciate its lyrical tone and representation of said "dirtyworker" captured perfectly.
Pgr ost more marco
punishing gray raven is so underrated
Oh shit, it's finally here!!!
I don't play the CN server nor do I read the full story but spoiler for you

the pink hair girl with that menacing eyes would be freaking badass ever boss on PGR
Watch the Ayla Kaleido and Lee Hyperreal boss gameplay, just dang those thing always made me hype for this game
Such awesome music
Seeing as how you've listened to a couple ultrakill tracks already, I would REALLY love to see you check out the track from the new update that just came out, called "Tenebre Rosso Sangue"
I recorded it not too long ago
studio that make PGR is close to MHY quality... but they lack the budget of MHY to truly polish to the same level... but they have the same talent and passion in their work. their next game interest me but you can see the quality just isn't of the same level yet, but then Genshin beta was also messy around the edge... so they still have time to improve the game.
To me Mihoyo makes great music but pgr music stuck in my head all the time
Pgr is already beyond MHY at this point, or rather pgr is just in a class of their own. The quality aspects are unmatched.
@@JAI-vz9rzLate reply but I dont think pgr and something like genshin impact can be compared, they're really different. Yes, they're both chinese games with gambling elements, but that's about all they have in common.
