That whole sequence past 12:00 is probably one of the most epic that I've experienced in a WWII. It gives me chills every time
Yeah especially if you've watch and read history back to how desperate those soviets were to defend the Stalingrad, they're literally throwing more people instead of bullets to the enemy (that's why they use potatoes instead of grenades).
They've already lost their major cities and Moscow the capital city is about to be surrounded. All they've done until this point is retreat. Stalingrad is their final foothold that's why they renamed it after Stalin. They've lost tens of millions of people already, lose this city and lose the war, its either now or never.

I don't get emotional that much, but seeing this back after many years.. It brings tears to my eye. Because not only you were playing for fun, you were learning history from this. Those vintage footage of black & white makes it more real and you feel immersed in the past. And you can't wait to press that key to start a new experience. Now it might sound that we are all just nostalgic from it, yes it might be, but it's a feeling that you and I can agree that will make up our childhood a memorable one. Uraaaaa!
I still play this game on veteran mode of course mainly because I like the challenge though, often don't bother to watch the interludes as that sleaze presenters voice pees me off as an adult.
There's something about it all anyways so basically only play the game nowdays

This game made me hook to history books! I was just a child back then and those intro videos were fantastic! Since then I end up reading history books from my uncle, first read ww2 then end up reading from the beginning (prehistory) then literally to the present. This game woke up my curiosity!

One of my favorite games from childhood. Used to play it so much after school. Still one of the favorite games even after over 10 years.
I remember when they had a demo for this game on Xbox 360 at Best Buy. I was only 9. What a game, I must have completed the campaign several hundred times over, and full multiplayer lobbies were insane. Good times.

My childhood game and also reminds me of my grandfather fighting for freedom in WW2 against Nazi but unfortunately he did not do well. This game is still in my heart and will be forever.

This brought back so many memories and you did so many things that I used to do when I played these levels. The one thing that I did that was fun was that I would wait till I put all my charges down and then kept some of my "friends" in the building while it blew up by throwing grenades at them so they would run back inside as the building fell down.
