Yeah especially if you've watch and read history back to how desperate those soviets were to defend the Stalingrad, they're literally throwing more people instead of bullets to the enemy (that's why they use potatoes instead of grenades). They've already lost their major cities and Moscow the capital city is about to be surrounded. All they've done until this point is retreat. Stalingrad is their final foothold that's why they renamed it after Stalin. They've lost tens of millions of people already, lose this city and lose the war, its either now or never.
@@kaiser741 It's very grim when you remember Nazi lebensraum and what they where doing in occupied Belarus/Ukraine was just wiping out the slavs entirely to make way for German settlers. To lose Stalingrad means even more death camps and villages being massacred.
When I played the game first time as a kid, that was something epic to experience. One of the best mission I ever played in a game. And then the D-day..
I don't get emotional that much, but seeing this back after many years.. It brings tears to my eye. Because not only you were playing for fun, you were learning history from this. Those vintage footage of black & white makes it more real and you feel immersed in the past. And you can't wait to press that key to start a new experience. Now it might sound that we are all just nostalgic from it, yes it might be, but it's a feeling that you and I can agree that will make up our childhood a memorable one. Uraaaaa!
I still play this game on veteran mode of course mainly because I like the challenge though, often don't bother to watch the interludes as that sleaze presenters voice pees me off as an adult. There's something about it all anyways so basically only play the game nowdays following the game I sometimes watch the rescue of captain price
I remember playing this at a hotel lobby computer as a kid. You had to pay money to play 1 hour and after that the computer resets, so I played this mission over and over again. The music, the cutscenes, the distant shot sounds, the atmosphere, the voices, COD 2 just nailed it and you felt completely immersed. It seemed so real! Still get goosebumps when the soviet victory music starts.
This game made me hook to history books! I was just a child back then and those intro videos were fantastic! Since then I end up reading history books from my uncle, first read ww2 then end up reading from the beginning (prehistory) then literally to the present. This game woke up my curiosity!
12:45 This, is the moment made the call of duty become the greatest wwII FPS game.....not just satisfying the blood lust of killing, but also feeling the blood boiled by nationalism . but you can hardly see it after black op1....

The one thing that I did that was fun was that I would wait till I put all my charges down and then kept some of my "friends" in the building while it blew up by throwing grenades at them so they would run back inside as the building fell down.

This game is a lot better than black ops three advanced warfare and infinite warfare

BO3 was mediocre, not trash
Infinite warfare is hot trash
Advanced Warfare isn’t terrible it’s just very mediocre like BO3
Bocw is trash (except the lie ending)
