Not a threat at the Politicians, but more of a "promise" of actuality, of what will transpire against the body of government itself. If certain Politicians feel it's a threat against them, then that is proof that they no longer represent the people that elected them, and feel they are "the law", and are probably guilty of some misdoings. I know several senators that do not "fear" such "threats".
Those that fear, clearly have something to hide, that they do not want people to see what they've actually been doing.
Even more funny, is how certain Politicians are on video/record calling for the harassment of other politicians, simply because of their views differ from the one making such calls to action from their supporters. Why have these politicians been held accountable for their actions? To which, if it was a civilian making the exact same statement, would probably be fully prosecuted in any fashion they could, and have their lives destroyed as a result of it.

They can't force her to incriminate herself. Answering the questions could lead to perjury charges. Also, she probably thinks she did nothing wrong. It's like in D&D when you have a Lawful Good Paladin and a Chaotic Good Rogue. The Paladin will stick to the law and tell the truth, even if he has to admit he was wrong about something in the past. He would go as far as to turn himself in to face the consequences. The Rogue on the other hand might break the law, steal something or kill someone, then argue that he did it to prevent an even greater evil, and can do more good outside of prison thus avoiding the consequences. It's the "For the greater good" argument that makes these people dangerous. Especially when they THINK they are doing good, and they might be, but they end up committing twice as much Evil to accomplish it.

Admitting to not being able to disclose whether she participated in discussions about the DOJ memo is a passive admission that she did, and refusing to disclose the opinions she expressed at the time is once again a passive admission that she is in agreement with the contents of that memo. Otherwise she should have no problem in denying any of Cruz's questioning.
If she has trouble answering simple questions like this, who knows what will happen next with other politicians

"Threats" is such a vague term. It can be easily applied to upset parents simply by the school board saying they feel threatened. I dont know why they dont bring that up, but its extremely valid as an excuse to have the FBI investigate these parents that oppose the school board.

Why is the DOJ all up in everyone’s business? If any of the parents at the school board meetings committed crimes, there are police departments in their own municipalities that take care of those crimes. The DOJ has no business interfering in local law-enforcement issues.

I think the numbers of voters for both candidates prove that what really happened was that this election was so polarizing that part of that 1/3rd or so of the US population that usually doesn't vote actually turned out to vote in order to oppose or support one candidate or the other explains the sheer number of votes.
