- Marcus Sasser was another valuable pick by Troy Weaver, who should be able to contribute to winning from the day he steps foot in Detroit. What do you guys think of the Sasser pick at 25? Steal? Good Value? or Bad Pick?
Let me know in the comments! Thanks for checking out the video.

Long time Houston fan. Sasser is an absolute dawg he’s going to make a big impact instantly
I was definitely happy to get a Houston guy bc that program has been one of the best in the country in recent years
Respect ! Houston got a steal being able to grab Whitmore at 20. Solid draft! Looks like this Det vs Hou rivalry is really taking off huh😂🤝
Houston alum here. Still getting over being called “Houston University!”
@@DetroitFanTVe have but the national media gives us no respect! Like Marcus said, that’s why we, HOUston, play with chips on our shoulders. Has #1 ranking last year and still ignored by the media! They say we don’t play anybody. Well we had 2 first rounders, more than the other Big 12 teams, who had one each! We had 2 first rounders, the only university in Texas to do do. Baylor had one, Texas Tech none, Texas university none and aTm none!!!
I totally agree. I think he was the steal of the Draft.
Sasser & Auser should both be great defensive adds
Yup its going to help our team defense a ton
This roster is ridiculously athletic now around Cade. Really hope Monty can sort out a winning lineup and bring Detroit Basketball back 🔥.
🤣🤣🤣.. look out" sasser'.. should be our starter... look out Ivey..🤣🤣🤣..
Sasser is gonna be running laps around guys in the Summer League. 🔥🔥🔥
He has the Piston DAWG mentality that we need and I hope is contagious. Great pick by Troy.
The piston Dawg mentality right now is to lose every game.
These are the first highlights I’ve seen of him. Lindsay hunter was the first name that came to mind for me about 30 seconds into the video
love it too hunter
Offensively is Cam Thomas/Terry Rozier
Defensively is like Davion Mitchell.
If he was 3 inches taller, he would be a top 10 pick this year.
This video definitely helped because I wasn’t familiar with Sasser at all but I heard of his D being phenomenal and we all know that’s something Detroit needed
Reminds me of Tyrone Maxey off the 76ers
I like that one I see a lot of similar attributes
With better defensive upside
Thank you bro, Bout fukin time a real Piston fan knows what we hang out hat on. Deemofokin Fense.
If only this lousy GM hadn't hired a whole bunch of terrible defenders (Ivey, Bagley, Bojan, and especially Wiseman).
Good breakdown vid.
dude is a fan favorite already 😂🔥
Joe Dumas is 6'3", Russell Westbrook is 6'3", Steph Curry is 6'2", Lindsey Hunter is 6'2". There's the proof of how deadly 6"2"-3" was is and can be. Totally awesome ball stealing shut down defense is there. Totally awesome long sniper shooting is there. This height totally changed the game to what it is right now. This height shut down Micheal Jordan. This height when really good is a devastating weapon. Can take over and dominate a game. Enough said, you could be 100% correct.
javon carter is a good comparison for Marcus sasser, they're both more experienced good 3 and d reliable small guards
Yes hes a very gifted defendant. Just? Looking. At these? Highlights and how he's playing the man that shoots in the gap and his hands that's a tough as a gift
Facts bro I can’t wait to see the pistons this year
I will give you a like...but turn up the audio...a little louder please. Otherwwise, great job.
I want the season to start to tomorrow!
I am 100% with you! The summer league games should be fun to watch!
Love the pick. Pistons could really transform into a contender in the next couple years
Its definitely possible because we have about 4 possible future all stars in my opinion
Easily 4

Cade, Ivey, Duren, probably Ausar. All those guys have the talent and skillset to be considerably above average NBA players. The main problem is, most of the fans can say exactly the same about three or four current players on their teams. The talent pool is very deep in the league, scoring numbers very high. Averaging 20+10 does not make you an all-star anymore. You need to win, consistently. That's what our guys need to do.
@@Dawid.Filipczak Yes you are arguing against the original premise: it is unlikely that all of those non-Cade names become all-stars just because there are so many other kids vying for that same level of accomplishment.
I like this pick alot, and there were a few of the guards that they could have taken, Sensabaugh from Ohio state or Nick Smith Jr.
He's like Lindsey Hunter, but is a better shooter.....high percentage on high volume 3 attempts.
Tough, aggressive and doesn't back down to anyone.
He won a ton of awards and just a name a few, First team All American, Jerry West shooting guard of the year, AAC player of the year.
Both play tremendous defensively, ball hawk!
Vinnie Johnson played an important role, and most championship teams need a really good 3rd guard to off the bench and needed to start when injuries occur.
Great video my guy. This is all I've been talking about since we picked him up. This kid is special. Very special. One thing that sticks out to me is the statement Troy keeps saying over and over again. He's looking to restore the Pistons, but when he said that, he was referring to the Bad Boys. Mainly because of the makeup of draft picks they acquired to finally assemble the squad we know of today. "The Bad Boys!" The 04 boys were mostly hired contract killers, and journeymen, outside of Tayshaun who was drafted. I said all that to say that if Troy is looking to restore the Bad Boys kinda squad, he definitely has Sasser in a 3 guard rotation some nights like Zeke, Dumars and Vinnie. If Ausar is this great defender that can guard 1-4, then on small ball lineups, you got Ivey at the 1, Sasser (assassin) at the 2, Cade at the 3 and Aussar and Duren holding down the 4 and the 5.......am I missing something here? LOLOL
Thank you! That gets me excited just thinking about that lineup. Those guys will be dangerous if they ever get assembled in that lineup like that! And I could definitely see it as a possibility with the versatility those 5 possess. You're right about the similarity with the bad boys, we're doing it the home grown/hard way, and that is the best way for the team to be built for long term success. We are about to go on a very long winning run and I couldn't be happier
@@DetroitFanTV amen my brother
@@DetroitFanTV had to go back and edit.....meant Aussar and Duren holding down the 4 and 5
Pat Bev with a deeper offensive 💼, Lindsey hunter.
Great Vid!! Sasser is a steal fa sho!!
I like the pick, I don't know how much the floor he'll see this season, but definitely a nice pick for the future . Definitely a Lindsey Hunter vibe to his game with the aggressive hands
Thanks for this info didn’t really know to much about him 🤞🏼
gotchu bro💪
Instant offense and a very good defender is exactly what we need. He’s gonna get buckets I don’t care if he isn’t the distributor backup players should be specialists more than anything else imo. Be our Vinny Johnson role
You know basketball... y'all better listen up 💯
This dude is a 6’2 shooting guard.
Got that It thing You know that piston D.N.A . If you'd followed this team for the last 30 something years you know what I'm talking about .
You ain't lying, Sasser definitely could've played on those pistons teams from the past and fit in perfectly
I think he was the steal of the Draft. We needed defense and shooting badly. He’s emmidiaty our starting pg coming off the bench that can bring us a nice change on the court.
You can't determine who is the steal of the draft until he's played couple of seasons.
Jrue Holiday will be a interesting piece. If you guys could get them Marcus Sasser I’ll tell you that dude is a really good point guy man I like with you guys building over there.
I'm loving it too bro. I'm hoping the Pistons and Rockets take over the NBA and have a fun rivalry, that would be great for both our fan bases.
Good because last year our bench wasn't worth a quarter. 😢
Great pick can score and play defense
Think he could be a Vinnie Johnson type off the bench a microwave.....
thats a great comp, a bench player who makes a huge impact to winning is exactly what we need
Sasser we'll be that offensive spark we need in the 2nd unit. Hayes if still there will be great together.
agreed Sasser and Killians game should mesh really well together
hayes is a bust cut him now!!!
Your assessment is pretty good.
Thank you I appreciate that!
he compares to none other than zeke the freak, 94 feet of competitor
Microwave. Love the pick. 6th man, yes, but he could steal minutes from others because of his defense. Auser and Sasser are great defensive additions who son't scarifice offense. Ivey, who is excellent on offense, could feel some pressure if he doesn't up his defense.
Just like Ivey and Duren became starters right away, Sasser is a starter on this team. Detroit needs superb defense and a guard who can shoot 40% 3s, works very hard and a mature, experienced great leader. I can easily see a line up, at some point, of Sasser, Jaden and Cade, Duren and Asaur, particularly if Asaur can his 3 % from the OTE playoffs (39%).
Who is he starting over?
Sasser isn't starting. Pistons are interested in pairing a combo forward next to Duren in the frontcourt via Brooks, Cam, Jerami, Yuta etc. Hopefully it's Jerami via his capacity of versatility.
@@khrisstake2210
Cade
@@ronaldmcdonald1977 I don't expect him to start over Ivey, and I don't want to see them shoe-horn Cade in at the 3.
University of Houston btw very good fit for Detroit
Sasser = Jordan Poole / Bruce brown (with his 6'7" wingspan) so he can play small ball as needed. He’s not a point guard but he will go great with some of the other big play makers.
G: Cade Cunningham; Killian Hayes ?
G: Jaden Ivey; Marcus Sasser or Procida?
F: Alec Burks; or Ausar Thompson
F: Bogdanović; or Isaiah Stewart?
C: Jalen D; James w, or Marvin Bagley III?
If Monty goes 11ish deep when healthy and working in the rookies and Troy doesn’t make a trade… but he will probably move a couple guys and get one or two new players to start or come in the rotation.
It’s still a couple more years process to work with vets like burks and Bogdanović while the youth mature and work on their shots.
Thought Miami would of got him
Yes Isiah Thomas
Patrick Beverly with better offensive skills
Yes sir 🔥
From these highlight footage dude looks tops 20. This team coming together real nicely. We gonna be a fast break nightmare for teams. All we need to do now is get rid of Wiseman.
Love the pick love your content
Hell yeah
He’s the same height as Ja morant. Ppl forget 6’2 ain’t small
Marcus smart comparison
He looks like he could be the new microwave
IN TROY WE TRUST 🔵🔵⚪⚪🔴🔴
I don't trust him as far as I can throw him.
He was a great pick up.. I said he reminded me of Hunter
STEAL!
Sasser and killian off the bench 😬scary
Got damn we have so many guards hell where is the guards we drafted before. Can’t front cade, Ivy, thompson, sasser all dawgs.
Swear, we're going to take over the league with these guys soon
And lastly he has very powerful strong looking legs not looking they are
A lot of teams are going to regret passing on him
I don't think Sasser will run the offense. He's a combo guard. I think he will run along side Killian Hayes with the 2nd unit.
Sasser shot 45%, catch and shoot 3's (over last 2 years) and obviously he's a smaller guard that can defend smaller guards as all of our guards are massive.
I love both of the players that the Pistons drafted this year, if only for the fact that they're both defense oriented players. They also seem to have traits that the Pistons are sorely lacking. The other somewhat less obvious thing that jumps out to me is the criticism of these picks from the so-called experts in the media. It is eerily similar to the initial reactions from the critics of this year's Detroit Lions draft who quickly changed their comments once it became more trendy to praise the solid choices' once they thought about it. Maybe that's why so few people actually like or respect critics.
I think Hayes my be shown the door, if he don't improve.
Plays with a lot of fire, opposite of Killian Hayes.
Joe D. Would love this guy.
Reaching
Reminds me of Bryce brown but better ball control and shooting less athleticism
Seems like a little Kool aid drinking. The narrative sounds good though.
I wouldn't compare him to Marcus Smart. That's killians comp as he's still not a good shooter.
I hate that we're gonna give up on hayes too soon just like bey
Killian Hayes days are numbered...
University of Houston!!!!! Where the heck is Houston University?! Never heard of it. Don’t insult Marcus and the rest of us by saying “ Houston University!” Really??!!!!
Why do you have him wearing Beef Stew's number though? Stew ain't going anwhere or at least he better not!
He has not played one minute of NBA basketball and he is a "secret weapon"? Gimme a break.
He was definitely a steal.
HE'S ALREADY BETTER THAN HAYES
I'd say so, but Killian has him on passing definitely, so they should be perfect as a duo playing together
Let him play a damn game first 🤷🏾♂️

dang bro that terry rozier comp is too accurate, I didn't even think of that
I'll take that 👍
He have to many guards especially in no need for a 6’2 one! I don’t really care for the pack! We have talent in our team. We just have to manage it.
