you can L-cancel with Z?????? Also, for the double jump cancel + uair, couldn't you just use the analog stick to buffer the 2nd jump then use the c-stick to u-air and then FF with the analog stick again?
Z in melee is just a macro for grab, which is shield + attack; it works for the same reason you can throw an item with the Z button, because the game just looks if youre hitting the shield button upon landing.
For the second question; you can. There are different methods. iirc the idea is that using the analog stick to jump makes it harder to also control drift and time the fastfall all at the same time, but it comes down to preference.

Thanks for the video! I’ve found that you can aerial interrupt with z button on ledge and you get shield instantly so that’s cool
