- Most people know the Achacha and have seen and tasted them in Australian Supermarkets. The madrono fruit is quite similar but the tree can handle frosts that are a lot cooler.
The crop on this tree is fantastic as well.

In the south of Colombia (Putumayo) we have it, and the name is the same, "madroño". I just can say, it is one of the most delicious fruits I have ever tasted
I have both Garcinia humilis (achachairu) and G. intermedia in my Florida garden. Here, G. intermedia is commonly called 'lemmondrop mangosteen'. I am in the subtropics (USDA zone 10a), and have never had either tree damaged by cold.
Nice tray
I miss my childhood. I love eating this.
we have this tree in our backyard in our home in iloilo, philippines.
Garcinia intermedia, the tastiest fruit I've ever tried, although it has so little pulp.
Thanks so much for the share. Looks delicious and nutritious!
According to my research, Garcinia madruno is called "charichuelo", and is different from garcinia intermedia, or lemon drop mangosteen, which you are showing here.
We also call that Berba fruit
This seems more like Garcinia brasilensis or Garcinia Vleerackeii.
I can tell this is neither Garcinia intermedia nor Garcinia madruno. Garcinia intermedia is smaller, has only one seed, very thin skin and has orange pulp instead of white. Garcinia madruno has rough or spiky skin and skin is yellow when ripe, never orange. I'm from Costa Rica where both are native so I know them well (here both are called jorco).
I'm posting this because there's a generalized misunderstanding, I haven't seen the real garcinia intermedia on any video, they are always naming wrong the species.
shouldn't luc's garcinia have larger fruit?
@daleysfr could you guys comment on this? I have been researching and it seems to be mislabeled?
I love this fruit
It's not madrono, it's lemon drop mangosteen.
Cool. Funny, here we call Arbutus unedo (totally unrelated) "madrono." I believe they call the A. unedo that in Spain as well.
I have a doubt that it is a baraba, garcinia madruno( madrono) have small spiky out covering . It's not shiny like this.
Daley's are calling Garcinia intermedia "Madrono". I bought one thinking it was Garcinia madruno. They should make that more clear. Garcinia intermedia is know as the lemon drop mangosteen.
Here in Brasil we call bacupari mirim, Thanks from Brasil
Super mam, good video. Mam is the other name of this fruit is baraba?
Can I plant this in pot for fruiting..?
Is it heavy sour? In Bangladesh name is Kaw.
0.0 a Garcinia for colder climates? Well colour me excited
Aqui no Brasil nos acontece esta fruta por cunhao de padre
Such a confusing video friend
Garcinia Intermedia (Lemon drop Mangosteen) is not Garcinia Madruno (Madroño/Charichuela/ Charichuelo),
In the end its Garcinia intermedia (common name: Lemon drop Mangosteen)
Garcinia brasiliensis

alanliu08111988 this one is a few years old and we keep cutting it back they can be 5+ in idea conditions without cutting them back.
