Rush Album Battle! Grace Under Pressure (1984) vs. Power Windows (1985)

Many "legacy" bands from the 70's found it hard to transition into the new decade, where there seemed to be a new music movement happening. The rise of MTV and new synthesizers left many of the big bands scratching their heads what to do next. Rush had been a progressive rock juggernaut in the late 70's but they did not want to be labeled as dinosaurs so they dove head first into the 1980's embracing the new technology and dropping their long time producer Terry Brown. I say they made a successful transition, , they were still just as passionate and always great players. OK, Alex Lifeson probably suffered the most in this era, but he still found a way to find new guitar tones and fit in the scheme, I love his playing on both these records.
