I used a spring out of a disposable lighter myself, worked great and still have the original spring for future use.. Different gauge strings, different intonation
THIS JUST IN: I just cut out that idiotic part where I couldn't thread the screw into the saddle. Could take a few hours to show up, but now people won't have to suffer so much. I never intended for more than one person to see this video; I only made it public so my friend wouldn't have to write and say, "I can't see your video!"
That works with 'tune-o-matic' style bridges as well. With the TOM you can even spin the saddle around and get some more travel that way too. Been doing this for years.
Boy, am I familiar with that! I had a Strat in Venezuela many years ago, that I couldn't tune. It never occurred to me that the pickups were too close to the strings. I think it was Allan Holdsworth that brought it to my attention that you can back the pickups off a little bit.
Seriously? This is where we’re at with “guitar tech” videos?! I’ve been doing this nonsense for 20 years and not once have I thought about making a video about it. My loss, I guess. 🙄 The shit people post to get “famous…”
I posted this for a friend who is just getting started fixing and selling used guitars. I had no idea ANYONE besides him would even see it. I'll take it down, if it's causing you such pain. If I were trying to get "famous" I'd at least have cut the silliness of trying to rethread the saddle.
This is exactly what I've been looking for. And in 4 minutes you showed me how to do it. God bless you, sir. This is a great help. Have a good day.
Siempre a la orden, jefe. Pienso volver a subir los videos en dos idiomas.

I have butchered many a ball point pen for this very purpose.

Great solution man! Many of the cheaper strats tend to have this problem so this is definitely super helpful to know! Thanks so much

Thanks. I am also going to try removing the spring and just adding a bit of rubber to keep things snug,
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing!
Good hack ! Might need this at sometime.
Looks like the bridge is out of place. Thinner strings intonate less far, too. Just my two cents...
It sounded more like your pickups are too high…..magnetic pull at the 19th fret! 🥴

Way to make a minute and a 1/2 video 3 times as long.
I agree. Maybe I'll edit the thing. I only made it for a friend.
I thought it was the 12th fret
Oh, that works too.
Take the spring off, for crying out loud!
A legit option.

Exactly. That comment was so unnecessary. I appreciated it. People...
