This was superb. Really unusually good acting by all cast members. Great blending of sound effects with actors! Good script and fine ending. Most of these old radio mysteries are pretty cornet by today’s standards but this one is a real exception.
This episode was actually far more subtle than I was expecting. I agreed with the comment below that the misdirection with the kid's knife took me by surprise--I liked that the audience seemed well set up to match the clues about the wife *first*, *then* the protagonist makes the connection, so we feel like we're ahead of the mystery.
I like your puns. *spoiler alert* At least the wife is able to air her grievances. The husband is surprised to find that his wife is in the right and he is in the wrong. She makes a choice between two evils, staying with her husband or breaking up her home. The idea presented is that she is doing something admirable because she is willing to suffer for the sake of her child. In most episodes, something bad happens, which is to be expected in a suspenseful show. In some episodes the heroine escapes. I wonder how women fare in radio comedies.
