Why is NO ONE talking about the Easter egg when Sidney first shows up to the hospital and Gale says "How are MARK and the kids doing" meaning we all finally know that Sidney is married to Detective Mark Kincade from Scream 3. I thought that was great because a lot of us wanted to know who Sidney is married too.
Dawg, I talked about this movie for 30 minutes and I still didn’t say everything I wanted to. I couldn’t talk about everything in one video unfortunately
Mark was mentioned when Dewey originally called Sidney and told her about the attacks, so Gale mentioning it again was just to drive it home that they were together
Richie felt like a red herring through half the movie, but as soon as Ghostface sliced his arm a flag went up, but it's how he looks at Ghostface when Dewey shoots him that made me lock on him. He gives a second look that is actually a look of concern, like, "are they ok?" It's subtle and I'm excited about watching it a second time to watch that again. But I felt confident he was the killer after that scene.
Yes agreed, for me he gave himself away in the hospital when Dewey said he's gotta go back and shoot Ghostface's head, his "what?" And look of concern in response was a giveaway he was part of the Ghostface duo. Good movie. Predictable but hits all the sweet spots and they can also keep making movies. I'm a huge fan and deeply love these movies, will keep supporting🖤👻🖤
SAME! I was like "sure they did the same thing w Derrick in pt 2, but he's still on the list" then when he gave that look to amber after getting shot I was like oh god he's in on it.
This was my thought at that moment too, then suspicion was confirmed when he asked Mindy where the beer was as an excuse to go and change into his costume to attack later. Why would he want to grab a beer when he Sam and Tara were supposed to be in and out?
That scene where Wes and his Mom got offed...HOLY SHIT...so brutal, and amazing, also, the Wes death, was practical, that was makeup/prosthetics on him so they could show the brutality of his kill and death, no CGI, it was so gross, but amazing, the audience lost it! 🤯😀🙌
17:45 also, Dwight mentioned being stabbed, and having nerve damage... and he is moving a little slower and is older! couple that all with being ambushed... works!
Not to mention his mentality. He was done. He seemed ready, like he knew he was going to die. Just my opinion, but I bought the death scene from the attitude he seemed to have before he even got to that situation
I always loved that Dewey’s theme was a western theme and as soon as he was in that hospital ready to die protecting the people in that situation. In short he was a gunslinger who was always willing to protect people no matter the cost and he was truly no coward.
I definitely agree with everything you said. The second time around, I was able to pick up on the commentary. I love scream and this entry to the franchise made me happy. I did not go in with the mentally of “high expectations”. It’s enjoyable and clever. Great video.
i just saw it! we laughed, cried, and SCREAMED! i enjoyed it. i literally CRIED FOR DEWEY! 2ndly, most of those attacks and killings was Amber. Little things now that I think back- was evident was a female. Amber did a lot of ambush killing. It makes sense she would cause she's not as strong as a male. She also did a lot of 2 handed forcing of the knife.
In regards to the Dewy kill - ghost face and him were about the same height during their fight, but she’s actually 5’2. So that was one thing that bugged me.
What I want to know is exactly how did radio silence think the trailer was "full of misdirection "? They gave away the killers and the fact that Dewey died..I really do not see any misdirection, seems like they pretty much gave away the most important things..
Loved your review. Some would consider me a "Scream purist" but I loved this movie. My only problems with it could he considered nitpicks. It retcons already established Stab lore. In Scream 4, Jenny Randall talks about how only the original trilogy is based off of Sidney Prescott and how she threatened to sue them if they used her likeness in the other movies so they "just started making stuff up". So right then and there the opening trivia with Tara is wrong. Sid wasn't "in all movies except the last one". Then you have Chad talking about "our uncle getting stabbed in the movie". Randy wasn't stabbed until Scream 2 which chronologically takes place after the release of that first Stab movie. Randy was shot during Scream (1996) and not stabbed. Finally, Wes' "my mother is in one of the sequels" bit doesn't make sense. Stab 8 or STAB is already established as not being linked to Sidney so it isn't based off of Scre4m.
Fantastic review, Jake! I'm with you on all of the things you liked about this. Got me so excited to see it again. Brilliantly made, and in my honest opinion FAR better than Scream 4
I had a feeling that it would be Ritchie because it’s a way of honouring Wes Craven and also similarities to the first film. But I wasn’t sure about If it was Liv or Amber. But I like how Amber could suddenly switch between acting innocent and acting bad
I think that Ritchie was well foreshadowed. I really clocked onto when he said “he’s so much nicer in the movies”. Something a massive fan would say. Also out of all of the funny lines, “I still like the Babadook!!!” really made me laugh.
17:50 thank you, this BS is honestly tiring. Anyone who wants to know how it’s possible for a teenaged girl to kill a grown man can see just how EASY it was in the movies. Nothing unrealistic about it.
@@KillJoyJakeLovesHorror i was like that at first then remember dewey hurt and other context.if anyone complain use this. 1. Amber was using momentum during her fight . 2. Anything that require physcial strength dewey actually won. 3.dewey got caught off guard by gale calling him.
I thought it was an amazing addition to the franchise. I loved the little details, the way the camera panned down from above a few times, just like in the others especially the first. They really paid homage to Wes Craven. I cried an embarrassing amount with the death of Dewey. Overall I was not disappointed and I loved keeping up with the movie updates through your channel!
Im not sure if this comment was already said, but, if u go back to the scene where Richie is watching the TH-cam videos about Stab 8, the first recommended video is about Kirby, it's an interview with how she survived the attack.
I like the billy parts , I almost was tricked into thinking stu was going to be killer at the end with them two because none the real world what the killers was doing wasn’t possible right , so Kirby from 4 isn’t dead also maybe stu May pop up in scream 6 I don’t think stu is dead 💀
When Richie is watching Stab 8 viedos on TH-cam one of the videos on the side says something like Interview with woodsburrow survivor and it’s Kirby in the thumbnail picture.
Also I just want to say, I just saw the movie. It was so well written that after the first 30 minutes.. I completely forgot that the OG 3 were going to be appearing! Yes it sucks that Dewey died, but doesn't suck as much as Randy's kill in SCREAM 2. I absolutely loved it, even though I pretty much knew who the killers were from day one. Stu's house... Ritchie is the new Stu character so I figured that, Amber lives there and was always just too Sus. If you watch the original films, they all basically tell you who the killer is in the first 40 minutes, it's always the first persons you suspect. I absolutely loved it and couldn't wait to watch your review, Jake!
Love your content, keep it up. Totally random but I watched a movie called 8-bit Christmas where a dog survives getting crushed by a TV from the 80s. Confirmed for me that Stu could have survived and deserves to come back.
And I believe there will be a SCREAM 6 because if you paid close attention at the end of the movie, Sam says to Tara: “I’ll be right back.” Which is the 3rd rule you are never supposed to say!
Here's my motive: What if Stu and Judy made out at the party and she wound up getting pregnant. Couldn't take care of the baby, gave him up for adoption, possibly to a relative of stu's. Baby is Richie. He hooks up with Sam because he knows her secret, kills Judy out of hatred. Kills Wes out of jealousy and goes after Sam because there could only be 1 child of a serial killer. That gives Judy a story line and Wes as well
Movie was awesome they did a great job on the callback the nostalgia was great seeing Billy and all the eater eggs like Randy's home theatre n u see Dewey has Tatum's ashes it was cool to see the references and the legacy of the victims we all loved from the original trilogy
The movie was dope the one thing that keeps me from putting this one above Scream 4 is the CGI on Billy that is literally all but it’s number 3 and I hope the movie is successful!
@@L_A_Rivers You know I have been kinda rationalizing it in that kind of way too tbh so I was like maybe that’s how it really looks in her mind like kinda of distorted so I kinda am using that as the excuse as she never knew Billy.😂
Pros: Themes & Commentary, Brutal Kills Cons: The Killers were obvious, Ghost Billy popping up like a Killer Obi Wan to Sam, Dewey’s Death Scene could been handled differently & the movie felt a bit Rushed
I've had the same argument with dexter new blood people say oh this ending is worse then season 8 I was like did you actually watch it. How can you like every aspect then shit on something, my girlfriend hates scream type movies and actually liked the ending. She knows nothing about the films. I've seen everyone of them in theater. I put this as one of my favorites I did a REVIEW and got stupid comments from people who didn't even watch the movie!!!! I've had issues with franchises before but only changing the core of what you are counting, not changing the direction you want to go in. The irony that the people who bitch "they never change it up!" Then they give you a different take while respecting the creators involved and the og characters, what more do you want? FYI I taught martial arts for 10 years a woman who has the drop on a older and clearly hurt man can take him out what a ridiculous argument! Thanks for a wonderful passionate REVIEW I subbed because you have very logical takes
Richie is also meta in being played by Meg Ryan's son, In Scream Sydney tells Billy why can't I be in a Meg Ryan movie and here we have her son dating Billy's daughter. Honestly, I would have preferred Hank Loomis be her Dad, in fact I was thinking he might have been Jill's dad too since we never knew who her father is. But now we have alot of questions like who the hell is Tara's Dad that left? Who is their mom?, Wes's Dad? The Twins? Nobody has a daddy in these darn households LOL
Agree with you on all points! After a re watch it’s even better and makes more sense on why they do certain things. I do wish the Vince scene was longer and the ghostface shadow at the end was included. I think Vince was Richies first kill, he seemed to kill less stab happy then Amber. Maybe because it was his first kill he was a bit apprehensive and didn’t want it to be too tricky so went for an easy kill haha. As he was a mega fan of ghostface adding the shadow scene would make so much sense, because yeah I would totally do that if I was in a ghostface costume, it looked cool as.
@@jasonbarker8266 yea especially at the hospital ain't no way amber handled Dewey like that to the point where he was on the ground using both hands to hold the knife from cutting him ain't no way she is that strong gale and Sidney threw her around like a ragdoll
So glad I can come back to your channel now! I went dark on some of my regulars until I saw it just to be on the safe side, lol. Overall, I liked it! Not my favorite, but it is definitely a solid entry in the franchise. Completely agree with you on Ghost Billy. It’s the only thing in the movie I flat out disliked. Why is he like a twisted version of Obi-Wan or something like that. I get he was a figment of Sam’s psyche, but still it wasn’t a good call, in my opinion. I think mentioning Billy several times as they’ve done before and showing photos works just fine. You still could’ve had Sam’s arc be in tact without him “physically” being there. LOVED the commentary on toxic fandom and that the killers were these random redditors, but a part of me wishes there was something deeper and more personal to go along with their motive to stronger tie them to Samantha. And RIP Dewey. Smh. That was tough.
LOVED the movie, it was insane!!! The parts with Vince were worded perfectly because I also felt like that whole beginning part felt "edited" & edited a liiiittle too much. I wish they would've just went ahead & gave it another half hour just to be able to stretch the opening parts out some & make things feel just a little more polished, mainly in that area. That's my main gripe, the killers weren't my favorites (I was really gunning for Wes & Liv lol) but all the gripes aside, this is easily my 2nd fave scream film next to the original. I ADORED what they did with developing the characters, what they did with the kills, & that 3rd act?? Fucking amazing. The fast pace was a very good fit for it. 10/10, gonna go see it for the 5th time sometime this week 😎
I was luckily able to watch it and I gotta say richie was prob my 3rd fav because I really loved his character and honestly didn't see it coming. He pulled a billy and I loved it.
I agree with you on almost everything. I loved it. It was totally worth the wait and I was not disappointed! And your theory on the flamethrower scene… lol you called it!
Despite people saying the killers were predictable I really enjoyed them and the movie was great it’s my 2nd favorite. In scream 6 I really don’t know if we’ll get our OG characters back
@@KillJoyJakeLovesHorror Amber was creepy as hell for me throughout the movie. Not surprised, but her reveal still landed perfectly. Richie did give a more convincing performance as a nice guy. I did trust Dewey's guts with this, though - in a franchise that is mostly about toxic masculinity gone homicidal, the boyfriend is always the safest bet (except if he is tied up on a quasi-cross - then you cut him down quickly!).
@UC28U6LXE0rFfEckYZQ8UQWQ in the scene where Richie is watching dead meat on right side of the page it showed a thumbnail for a video called woodsboro survivor Kirby speaks out.
Jake I agree Sidney's sequence was Badass I loved it. "I'm bored."drops call 🤣🤣🤣 Her kicking and shooting through doors she was fearless. 👏🏻 My Favourite Final Girl 😍🥰❤️ Sid and Gale team up was also Badass. 🤟🏻
I sussed one of the killers cause i saw a bruise on their chest early on in the hospital and was 100% sure when they kicked everyone out from the party
Jake, what did you think about the ending of the movie? OMG that was my favorite part of the movie and Sam was stabbing Richie oh my goodness it was soooo brutal I loved it.
My favourite part of that was Sam doing the iconic knife wipe with her hand, exactly how all the Ghostfaces before her had done. That whole scene really brought out her inner Billy, but that gesture specifically was such a nice touch.
@@haretrigger69 She's the hero in this, but damn, there is darkness, too. Got major Dexter vibes from her during that kill scene. Now that she has killed, I wouldn't be too surprised if she goes off the rails in a possible future movie. Then again, her relationship with Tara shows that she isn't like her father at all, so maybe - probably - not.
It will be interesting on how they will move the franchise forward. Was there a mastermind behind Ritchie and Amber? A mastermind that will be revealed in the next film?
@@KillJoyJakeLovesHorror the only way I can see is there being a mastermind that gave Amber and Ritchie the encouragement and possible financial backing to carry out their "movie".
In the opening scene… Jenna Ortega’s character receives a live video of Amber in her room with the killer outside her window. Jack Quaid’s character was with Jenna Ortega’s characters sister in Modesto, CA So… Who was physically attacking Jenna Ortega’s character?
I saw "SCREAM 5" earlier today and I actually really liked it. I realize that I am in the minority on this but I actually also liked the Killer or Killers (I won't spoil that) in the Movie.
You have to be like my brother from a different mum (yeah, mum, I’m a British OG). Absolutely agree once again with EVERYTHING. But yeah… I believe that it’s been more than a year since the first time I told you HE was going to die and I feel deep in your heart you knew it but didn’t want to accept it, but I think it’s super important what we’ve mentioned many times, if you gonna kill someone you need to do it in style and you better have a good reason and yeah… they had it and it was quite epic. I must say you’ve been right with A LOT of the theories, and some people in your comments same stuff. I absolutely hated the idea of CGI and deaging, but it was very well done for a “low” budget film. I feel with the dialogues that they’re more up to what people really are and how people really talk, that’s something that they usually get wrong in horror movies. Thanks for the amazing year talking about Scream, all the different theories, the amazing Red Right hand... This is gonna sound cheesy af , but I think that we’re part of a growing family and I’m very excited to see the channel getting what it deserves. Amazing ride and I’m very proud that I’ve shared it with such fantastic people.
I liked it because it reflected her character. As Mindy would put it, a boring death for a boring character! Even though I say that, Sonia Ammar killed it as Liv!!
I cried in the theater when Dewie died. This was very much a more intense movie than the others, and that's probably because of the difference in the times. These days a film can get away with more gruesome scenes. I feel, tho, that this would have hit a good sweet spot for me if it had just one more scene with Sidney. Maybe her seeing on the News of Dewie's death and she runs out the door. I dunno. Dewie had a great arch and the emotional gut punch.
I've been so excited for this movie and looking at updates and videos everyday 😄 but sadly I was a bit let down. There were some great elements, but some stuff missed the mark. Dewey going back didn't make sense. It was a rehash of Sidney waiting so long to go back to the car in Scream 2, and Dewey deserved better than endingon a note of stupidity. They also repeated other things from past films that never made sense like where the hell is the hospital staff?? The explanation of a private floor for the second part still doesn't excuse the break room scene. I figured Judy would die, but it was pretty depressing that she died trying to save her son only for him to get murdered anyways too. Not to mention, one would think that she would already have feared that they'd be targeted (& not left him home alone to begin with) since she's a previous survivor and his friend was already attacked. And Dewey had to have known Wes since he was a little kid, but they didn't even have him reacting to his death, and barely reacted to Judy's. But, as pointed out, the film moved so fast at points that certain things didn't have time to breathe that I wish would've a little bit more. The Stab lore laid out in Scream 4 was also not followed up the same here. I'm highly confused as to why Randy's sister would've ever let her kids go to Amber's. After what happened to Randy, you'd think she'd have had them on lockdown. The killers were sadly predictable. MB seems cool, but she was definitely on the weaker end of the new cast, the Billy hallucinations were meh (was I supposed to be applauding him telling her to grab the knife?). I really liked Liv, but sadly she barely had any screen time, & I kinda think one of the twins should've died. Oh well. I'm sure I'll be considered a "toxic fan" for this analysis 🤣 but whatevs. This ranks at the bottom with Scream 3 for me. I'll see it again though and see if my view changes some upon a second viewing. No shade to those who enjoyed it, I just wish I could’ve loved it the way I was hoping to.
I was upset that they killed Dewey by him doing something insanely stupid. He deserved better than that. A lot better. I also wish Sidney and Gale had gotten a little more screen time to give them a PROPER closure. I feel like I didn’t get that. Whenever I walked out I just thought “why did they even have them in this unless it was to say they were in it to sell tickets.” I guess I just wanted more for their characters so that I could take in the end of their era. Part of me hopes that might come in a future installment, but the other part of me thinks that ship sailed and their characters are just...done. I agree with basically everything you said. Other than that I enjoyed it. I prefer the other movies, but it was a fun ride. I just sadly don’t feel connected to or invested in the new characters. And that hurts me to say because I love this franchise more than any other. Hopefully the sequel will catch me up!
I just feel the trailer showed the killers. It was obvious that Sam was stabbing Richie. And that Sidney was watching amber on fire. So that I didn't like.
My biggest issues with this film 1. The lackluster reveal and motive of the killers 2. There is no fkn way that Amber pulled off those kills in the hospital alone.
@@KillJoyJakeLovesHorror Yeah sure but look at Amber and Dewey side by side. Her stabbing and lifting him in that fashion is just not believable at all, he's twice her size.
The Amber/Dewy thing...No sexist,but....(and I used to help train women in Tae Kwon Do)...no way 5'3" 110lbs. Amber could actually reach around like that to 5'10 180lb. Dewy and lift him up. It's NOT a Woman thing- it's a size and weight thing. She would not have enough room, angle, or speed to stab him around the back like that.....now the 6ft. tall stuntman could do that. ....and please keep in mind...Dewy(out of shape or not) is a trained police officer who would know basic fighting and some martial arts and the fact, I'm sure Dewy has handled some big dudes to kick out of a bar....Amber would not be strong enough to overpower him. Again...it is a size and strength thing...not a sexiest thing. And so I am not branded sexist...women like Rhonda Rousey or Gina Corano could dominate Dewy due to their training and strength training. Movie was good....Jake, the video was good(Love your Ghostface attack).
First of all, she didn’t lift him_ He moved upward because she was gutting him. Second, she took him out fair & square because she had a pair of VERY SHARP KNIVES in case you missed THAT PART. Third, if you think that a teenage girl can’t kill you, then you probably need to watch some true crime_ Shit happens.
@@marionhope7506 Stop. My Brother is in Law Enforcement and been around that my whole life...so, NO...a 110lbs. teenage girl, cannot takeout a full grown man who is in Law Enforcement...but, Hey! Test it out, yourself and see what happens? Bad writing is a thing for people who don't think about how the real world works and the trained people that live in it. The scene is Bullshit,period...so stop, while you are ahead, you are embarrassing yourself...and spoiler alert....you would not survive a horror movie....but, yes...still a good movie....Oh, and also...no matter who you are...you get shot, that many times with a bullet proof vest...you aren't getting up that quick...you would still feel the impact from the bullets for awhile ...movie magic, but go on????
Theres soooo many open questions about this movie and I love it. Awesome film. The darkest, most eery and emotional scream of the 5. I felt uneasy the whole time in the best possible way. First off im questioning if Richie did ANY of the killing since he was literally plastered by Sams side the whole movie..if thats the case..GENIOUS. Also I dont think Wes is dead. They show Judys body when the cops show up but not his> There will be multiple sequels haha and I LOVE IT
I think part of the reason I'm so ok with the legacy characters taking side character roles in this film is because ALL the main cast are such likeable, interesting characters. It'd suck to not see Sidney until the end if the main cast wasn't so well written, but I loved every single one of them. Sam and Richie were great, Tara is amazing, I love the Meeks twins, even Wes and Liv were super solid despite slightly smaller roles. That's so rare in horror nowadays, even within the Scream franchise itself. This is the most I've liked the main cast since the original, and I think that says a lot.
I knew Richie was the killer when he got the convenient Jill arm slash, then in the hospital he gets shoved aside while the killer goes for Dewey. Amber was sus but when they revealed it was her house and her and Richie kick everyone out I knew right away.
The "it's an honor" moment with Dewey was awesome... and really hard for me to watch because he was my favorite original character...I really enjoyed this movie.. it's certainly not perfect but I really enjoyed it...I thought that Ghostface was brutal and really well done.
That Dewey scene pissed me off. I had the feeling that he was going to die before watching the movie... just the way they offed him ticked me off. I litteraly almost walked out of the theater as soon as he had to walk back out of the elevator. 🤣
Knew Vince died in the parking lot scene. He was the Drew Barrymore. High profile actor dies early, why would someone fake their death in parking lot with nobody around.
@@samcarpenter4230 you must have missed Amber's last monologue ... also notice the way Sam wipes the knife. When they flashed ghost face before the credits... they wiped the knife the same way. But who knows?
@@onefunshow1344 nah that’s dum she’s the final girl and she obviously wanted to make sure he was dead and she gave him a taste of his own medicine she ain’t the killer sorry come again
I liked the movie for the most part. I just feel like the legacy characters were severely underused. They brought them back just to be brutalized. Of course, it hurt to see Dewey get killed but I kind of expected it. I like that this movie has an actual ending, unlike many "horror" movies these days. But I think I'm done with the franchise now. I'll stick with watching the original four movies :P Love your videos, KJJ. Keep up the good work
My only thing is Amber manhandled guys including Dewey like he wasnt shit lol was Amber really that strong? But I do like the fact that when Amber is stabbing people when there resisting she has to push the knife down with both hands
If they can play it out right I feel like the very final last scream (S7 or 8) this is when it’s been some years later again so S6 can be focused on the new ones we get a hint of gale coming back but Sidney is airtight with her family and like a callback to how Wes craven brought final girl Nancy back into the franchise is how they should treat Sid. We get the follow up on the new scream OGs and how the killer is tryna kill them but somehow in some sort of fashion since Billy returned- maybe this could be a chance to get Stu. And this time for the big “Scream Baby!” Stu target Sidney and her daughters Maybe for the 30th anniversary of Scream or 40th😮💨😭. It was nice they added her and Kincaid are married and have children this would be dope when Neve return it’s the final showdown between Stu and Sid. And this is when Sid dies. Protecting her family and the new OGs honor her passing. Of course she puts up a major fight but this one is for the end of Sid and then they can continue with the new OGs💀💀😭
And tbh if they had it be the original script for scream 4 this would be the exact same ending as that but they didn't do the couple's angle. To me this is basically what scream 4 was supposed to be. Anyone can say otherwise but it almost happened.
I actually don’t mind Amber being the killer as she came of as a legitimate psycho and she works in the roll. It’s just jarring since she’s 5’2. And Ghostface in this scene was around the same height as Dewey so when it’s revealed Amber did the deed it feels strange. The same with Jill in 4. When Charlie is “attacked” the killer is much taller than him. Then when Jill is revealed she is significantly shorter which feels strange. I feel like it would’ve worked better if it were revealed that Jill and Amber wore lifts in there shoes to increase their height. But I do enjoy them both as Jill is one of my favorite killers.
so out of the OG cast. I love them all but my order of loving is Gale, Sidney, then Dewey. But fuck did i cry when he died im not sure if i was the only one omfg. it just hurt. it was like losing a uncle. But God the Twins esp Mindy she was easily my favorite character. all the cast did a great job. I did love the 3rd act alot. Tho i thought it was kinda funny when Amber got set on fire and then came back. All i could think of is once upon a time in hollywood lol. if you know you know ha. I loved this movie and i would put it on par with the First one. imo
Wouldn’t it be interesting if the plan all along was to have Tara actually be the main character by way of a Friday the 13th - esq bait and switch where the “fins girl” is killed off at the beginning of the sequel. Food for thought, I know nothing about movies; but love scream and was present in theaters December 1996 at the inappropriate age of 11… lol 😂
For me the problem is not that Amber killed Dewey but how stupid it was to make Dewey go back alone for the dumbest reason. Dewey should have died to save Tara and not because of some stupid forced shit decision to get him killed. I really enjoyed Scream overall but this scene made me very angry because I felt like Dewey's death wasn't a sacrifice like it's said in the soundtrack. It was rather a shocking and stupid death that felt forced.
Billy nearly killed another character at the end of the first one because they didn’t shoot him in the head. Same rule applies here. I think it was well done
If we all had the same opinions about everything the world would be a very boring place!! I love having friendly debates with people about things..and I totally respect people's opinions, even if they r different from mine!
@@KillJoyJakeLovesHorror I love many things about the Lethal Collective..one of them being that you guys don't always agree, but you all totally respect each other!! 😁✌
There needs to be a third killer not shown, that nonsense where chad hits amber (as ghostface) with a bong with his full strength … then she goes back to the party with no buises are you kidding me? (couldn’t have been richie as he shows up with sam in the car and saves chad by accident)
Saw it last night at 7:10 in XD. I could say it did meet my expectations. However, I figured out it was Richie in the scene where Tara lost her inhaler.
I figured it was Richie prior to seeing but my reasons were random, lol. I don't think Jack Quad has played such a dark and psychotic character and since he was one of the bigger names of the newer cast, people figured he'd survive and be a name for future films. So for those reasons I thought, "Yeah, it'll probably be him" lol
I called it right when the movie started it was Richie. He seemed way too nice... I thought it was also ortega's character just because she survived the opening scene. Hit 1 out of 2
Great movie! Better than any other Screan sequel and this is one of the best horror sequels ever made. Looking forward to adding this Scream steelbook to my collection!
Amber was the opening attack Amber killed Vince Richie called and attacked Sam Richie killed wes and Judy Richie killed the guard before appearing to check on Tara then Amber "attacked" Richie before stalking Tara Amber kills dewey Amber attacks Chad Richie attacks Mindy Amber kills Liv (Reveal)
In all fairness though, not all of the kills are generic stabs. Casey was gutted and hung from a tree. Tatum was squashed by the garage door. Stu had a tv smashed on his head. Cici was stabbed and then thrown from her balcony. Officer had a pole slammed through his head. Mickey was severely gunned down. Stone was stabbed and beaten with a frying pan. Tom exploded. Rebecca was stabbed and thrown from the parking garage. Trevor was savagely shot. Jill had a defibrillator to the head and then shot. There's is heaps of stabbing deaths, but the Scream movies have had some creative kills. The important part is the set pieces. That always helps with any murder scene.
A fair point but compared to the Friday the 13th or Halloween franchises, these movies lack in disturbing kills. My opinion on that has greatly changed after this new installment though! 🤣🤣
Why is NO ONE talking about the Easter egg when Sidney first shows up to the hospital and Gale says
"How are MARK and the kids doing" meaning we all finally know that Sidney is married to Detective Mark Kincade from Scream 3.
I thought that was great because a lot of us wanted to know who Sidney is married too.
I caught that too
Dawg, I talked about this movie for 30 minutes and I still didn’t say everything I wanted to. I couldn’t talk about everything in one video unfortunately
I got tht straight away, also the kirby is alive news report
@@Tatteredghost96 that’s the part that got me, Kirby! I was waiting to see when she’d pop up after that or if she’ll be the next movie potentially
@@VioletFlameOutcast If only you were right
SAME! I was like "sure they did the same thing w Derrick in pt 2, but he's still on the list" then when he gave that look to amber after getting shot I was like oh god he's in on it.
I didn't catch that! I look for it on my second viewing
Wes and his mom didn't deserve that
17:45 also, Dwight mentioned being stabbed, and having nerve damage... and he is moving a little slower and is older! couple that all with being ambushed... works!
EXACTLY! Everyone missed that I guess lol
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed the movie
i just saw it! we laughed, cried, and SCREAMED! i enjoyed it. i literally CRIED FOR DEWEY! 2ndly, most of those attacks and killings was Amber. Little things now that I think back- was evident was a female. Amber did a lot of ambush killing. It makes sense she would cause she's not as strong as a male. She also did a lot of 2 handed forcing of the knife.
Now can we talk about The Two Killers babysitting Jenna Ortega for the entire movie??? Like both of them lol CREEEEEPY LOL
Sick right? Well sick is the new sane.. lol
@@TheGoldenAdonis Jill was a way better killer.
@@isaccresendiz7997 Jill killed like 3 people
True that's funny for their alibi
The Amber and Mindy scene in basemen was perfect too. Nostalgia to the video store scene with Billy and Randy
Oh I loved! Definitely made me suspicious of them both 🤠👻🔪
She had the ghostface costume hung up on the wall in the basement how didn't Mindy see it
In regards to the Dewy kill - ghost face and him were about the same height during their fight, but she’s actually 5’2.
That’s a good point. I guess that wasn’t as big of a deal for me but pointing that out is important!
Fantastic review, Jake! I'm with you on all of the things you liked about this. Got me so excited to see it again. Brilliantly made, and in my honest opinion FAR better than Scream 4
I loved it! I was geeking out, crying and reeling back during the kills. This movie did its job
I had a feeling that it would be Ritchie because it’s a way of honouring Wes Craven and also similarities to the first film.
But I wasn’t sure about If it was Liv or Amber. But I like how Amber could suddenly switch between acting innocent and acting bad
When Amber came out the house crying and the OGs were like like "GURRLLL!? We're not falling for that" I laughed SOOO hard.
I guess amber richie got me
I think that Ritchie was well foreshadowed. I really clocked onto when he said “he’s so much nicer in the movies”. Something a massive fan would say. Also out of all of the funny lines, “I still like the Babadook!!!” really made me laugh.
OMGSH I just now realized that was a foreshadowing 🤯
@MetaVerse Man It’s more about how they reveal it and the motive rather than who it is for me, and the reveal was really good here imo x
17:50 thank you, this BS is honestly tiring. Anyone who wants to know how it’s possible for a teenaged girl to kill a grown man can see just how EASY it was in the movies. Nothing unrealistic about it.
It’s a bad argument all together and you always hear it from dudes 🙄

@@KillJoyJakeLovesHorror its not just guys that make that comment. You do realize sexism goes both ways right?
I thought it was an amazing addition to the franchise. I loved the little details, the way the camera panned down from above a few times, just like in the others especially the first. They really paid homage to Wes Craven. I cried an embarrassing amount with the death of Dewey. Overall I was not disappointed and I loved keeping up with the movie updates through your channel!
Im not sure if this comment was already said, but, if u go back to the scene where Richie is watching the TH-cam videos about Stab 8, the first recommended video is about Kirby, it's an interview with how she survived the attack.
I NOTICED THAT THE 2ND TIME I SAW IT!!! So cool! That’s such a massive + for me knowing Kirby is still out there
I like the billy parts , I almost was tricked into thinking stu was going to be killer at the end with them two because none the real world what the killers was doing wasn’t possible right , so Kirby from 4 isn’t dead also maybe stu May pop up in scream 6 I don’t think stu is dead 💀
They missed a chance to bring stu back sadly
LOVED the Kirby is alive confirmation
@@Jordynmarie25 yes prob one of the only good things in this one
🤣🤣🤣 i love it!
And I believe there will be a SCREAM 6 because if you paid close attention at the end of the movie, Sam says to Tara: “I’ll be right back.” Which is the 3rd rule you are never supposed to say!
Here's my motive:
What if Stu and Judy made out at the party and she wound up getting pregnant. That gives Judy a story line and Wes as well
They should just stop

Pros: Themes & Commentary, Brutal Kills
Cons: The Killers were obvious, Ghost Billy popping up like a Killer Obi Wan to Sam, Dewey’s Death Scene could been handled differently & the movie felt a bit Rushed
Great review Jake, actually made me understand the motives a bit more
Did anyone catch the lil Easter egg talking about doing a interview with the survivor Kirby ????
What I must have missed it?? When was that said??
YES!!! Made me so happy
I freaked out in the theater when I saw Billy! I’m so glad you liked it too, I don’t know why any Scream fan wouldn’t.
I still think stu is alive them two couldn’t of done all that killing it’s not possible

I consider myself a scream purist and I loved Scream 5
KillJoy!!! Was super excited for your review!!!
I hope you dig it 😎
LOVED the movie, it was insane!!!
Couldn’t agree more! I rarely say this, but YES this movie could’ve at least been 15 minutes longer if not longer 👻🔪

Amber was a shock! I can see how people might not have been surprised as much by Richie. nonetheless still some of my favorite ghostface killers
Wonderful video, worth every minute!

Jake, what did you think about the ending of the movie? OMG that was my favorite part of the movie and Sam was stabbing Richie oh my goodness it was soooo brutal I loved it.
SO BRUTAL!! I loved it
My favourite part of that was Sam doing the iconic knife wipe with her hand, exactly how all the Ghostfaces before her had done.
That’s a great question. The ending felt incredibly conclusive. I want another film but how could it relate to our new characters? 🤔
@@KillJoyJakeLovesHorror the only way I can see is there being a mastermind that gave Amber and Ritchie the encouragement and possible financial backing to carry out their "movie".
In the opening scene…
Jenna Ortega’s character receives a live video of Amber in her room with the killer outside her window. Jack Quaid’s character was with Jenna Ortega’s characters sister in

But how do u explain taras attack there were obviously 2 killers present at her house 🏡 and Richie lived in a different town with Sam
I've been so excited for this movie and looking at updates and videos everyday 😄 but sadly I was a bit let down.
There were some great elements, but
some stuff missed the mark. Dewey going back didn't make sense. It was a rehash of Sidney waiting so long to
go back to the car in Scream 2, and Dewey deserved better than endingon a note of stupidity. They also
repeated other things from past films that never made sense like where the hell is the hospital staff?? The
explanation of a private floor for the second part still doesn't excuse the break room scene.
I figured Judy would die, but it was pretty depressing that she died trying to save her son only for him to get murdered anyways too. Not to
mention, one would think that she would already have feared that they'd be targeted (& not left him home alone to begin with) since she's a previous survivor and his friend was
already attacked. And Dewey had to
have known Wes since he was a little kid, but they didn't even have him reacting to his death, and barely reacted to Judy's. But, as pointed out, the film moved so fast at points that
certain things didn't have time to breathe that I wish would've a little bit more.
The Stab lore laid out in Scream 4 was also not followed up the same here. I'm highly confused as to why
Randy's sister would've ever let her kids go to Amber's. After what happened to Randy, you'd think she'd have had them on lockdown.
The killers were sadly predictable. MB
seems cool, but she was definitely on
the weaker end of the new cast, the Billy hallucinations were meh (was I
supposed to be applauding him telling her to grab the knife?).
I really liked Liv, but sadly she barely had any screen time, & I kinda think one of the twins should've died.
Oh well. I'm sure I'll be considered a "toxic fan" for this analysis 🤣 but
whatevs.
Can we talk about the fact that the initial trailer was not really ‘full of misdirects” after all ?!?!
My biggest issues with this film
1. The lackluster reveal and motive of the killers

Seeing James A Jenise made me so happy, but it made me question why KillJoy Jake was not in the film. Why did you decline being in the film?!
I’m already booked for Scream 6 🤣😱
Vince's kill was one of my favorites! It wasn't over done and to me, the most realistic stab in the whole franchise!
Did you see the Easter egg about Kirby being alive and stu possibly survived?
I wanted the shadow ghostface scene too, and see never got metallic ghostface or the flame thrower.
I can’t believe Chad and Kirby’s characters are survivors
so out of the OG cast.
I feel the same about the lack of character development for Vince. Also I felt strongly about this with Steve Orth
I’m surprised you didn’t mention Kirby being alive. Richie saw a video clip referring to her as a survivor.
Great video. I enjoyed the movie although as you said there were some whompy parts. 👻
The daylight double had me shook. 😮
If we all had the same opinions about everything the world would be a very boring place!! I love having friendly debates with people about things..and I totally respect people's opinions, even if they r different from mine!
YES! This is exactly what I was trying to say with this video. That is fantastic
@@KillJoyJakeLovesHorror I love many things about the Lethal Collective..one of them being that you guys don't always agree, but you all totally respect each other!! 😁✌
Whose your fave character(s) sugar boo? Mine? Sam, Amber, Ritchie, the Meeks Twins omg
I agree, it’s better than I thought it would be for sure
Also, can we get a video on which killer killed each victim? I presume Richie was responsible for the opening attack.
Amber was the opening attack
Amber killed Vince
Richie called and attacked Sam
Richie killed wes and Judy
Richie killed the guard before appearing to check on Tara then Amber "attacked" Richie before stalking Tara
Amber kills dewey
Amber attacks Chad
Richie attacks Mindy
Amber kills Liv (Reveal)
I loved that they let us know Kirby was alive. I hope they bring her back in the next.
i just watched but when did they let us know..? after credits or?
@MetaVerse Man she apparently was one of Dewey's missed calls as well
In all fairness though, not all of the kills are generic stabs.
I also like the fact that Kirby is alive as well
When did they say that? I missed it
Kirby is dead get over it
Mikey Madison plays a psychopath soooooo well omg 😳
SHE WAS SO GOOD! Her and Richie both had some scary scenes in that 3rd act.
@@KillJoyJakeLovesHorror THEY BOTH DID A GREAT JOB! Sam tho was my fave idk why buuuut Melissa Barrera is talented asf
