In fairness, the UK does, of course, have school buses, in the sense of there are buses that take kids to school. But we just don't have the formalised yellow school buses. I used to go to school by bus every day, but it was just, you know, a bus hired from a local bus company, not a dedicated "school bus". (Honestly, they usually used their coaches for the purpose, so there was some nice comfy seating. I don't know that a dedicated yellow "school bus" would have been better, other than the iconic status they have.)
Cows are cute yes,JJ, but I am sure that even in America, cows with calves at foot can be as dangerous to fieldwalkers as they have been _known_ to be here in the UK. People here, who quite legally may cross farmland as long as they "obey the Countrt Code"...to shut gates if they find closed gates. Leave gates open, if they come across open gates (they'll be closed _or_ open for a reason) Plus, to cross any farmland: field, meadow, field with crops planted, or has livestock in it, they should stick either to designated footpaths, or skirt the edges of said land - and to _not_ 'bother the animals' by trying to stroke them etc. Cows, especially with calves, can be aggressive and, believe it or not, JJ, have been known to attack and even cause serious injury and / or death to fieldwalkers who enter their fields, especially if with their dogs in tow. (Either on a leash or worse, loose). I've actually seen the video of an American TH-cam couple walk across a field of cows with calves, (I think it was somewhere in the county of Dorset) with their little dog...😮 That occasion passed safely, but it could have been a disaster. I remember I told my daughter (and we are both "townies" but we know how to behave in the countryside etc) and she was shocked at the risk the couple had taken, both with their own health & safety, as well as their dog's...and the stress on the cattle too. Please be aware that the farm aninals are not there grazing to be "ooh'd and aah'd over" ...they may look "cute" but they carry enough weight to be dangerous if "spooked"! Stay Safe, Stay Well...and if travelling across the countryside, do investigate "The Country Code"... It's there to protect farm property, land, machinery, livestock and the visitors equally... My school has 2 buses but they were just hired by the education department from normal double decker public transport bus department. I walked or cycled to school about a mile away, as did many others, some caught normal public buses and only a few had parents to shuttle them to and fro. Kids with disabilities had taxis if they wanted.
Fat boy one ear isn't an endearing term in and of itself British culture is somewhat focussed on being polite; so if someone close to you is being rude to your face it's a way of showing affection
