People don't tend to sing in an accent. You hear it in hip-hop and folk and some rock music, but in pop and classical styles people sing with a very specific approach that sort of removes a lot of your natural accent. If you're used to hearing British artists, you hear the result of that as a British accent. If you're used to Americans, you hear it as American. But honestly, how many people do you hear singing with strong Brooklyn or Minnesota accents? Just imagine a guy cranking out "Music of the Night" in a thick Boston accent. Basically no one sings in their own accent unless they're trying to. It's cool when people do, but it't not a British thing.
the thing is, most American singers don’t sing in an American accent, most English speaking singers sing in a mixed accent somewhere between American and English and that includes Australian
OMG that was Soo funny watching you react to that, using, if I may say so, a very authentic London accent when you tried singing it yourself 😂😂😂😂😂. I'm a born and bred Londoner btw, so I know what I'm talking about! I'll be watching that part over and over again 😊
Is it just me, or did the British accent sound much better in not only the song but also yours, JJ? 😅 No, really, I think you're getting better at it. In between the over-accented words is a relaxed, not-too-far-off (because you're used to it) genuine accent coming through. 🇬🇧🎶
10:55 the donat-n said for him to sing it like David Brent (Ricky Gevais voice in UK 'The Office') so that meme is twice as funny reading that little bit at the bottom there :D
One British band that sings in their own accents (mostly West Country) are The Wurzels. They're funny and brilliant, I've been a fan since I was a child. We saw them in concert this year. Back in the '70's they had a number one hit over here with their song Combine Harvester (Brand New Key) 😁
The singing gave me flashbacks to the height of the Arctic monkeys, and dancing on tables when out for a drink Edit: OK, I typed that comment before I got to the end. Best part about this video.... the 'it sounds more real cos its going through clothes..'giggle'. I've been out drinking with people from work tonight, but that just made my night and its stuck in my head 🤣
Nah mate, that was crow. (I have a pet crow). The Carrion Crow is a bit larger than the American ones, they have thicker beaks, so look more Raven-like.
brits singing in their own accent used to be really common I think it's only since the late noughties that it became normal to sing in American accents
But everyone copies either a posh English accent or cockney, never any other regional accent. I'd love a big trampoline, My husband said I would have to have an in the ground one because I'm very clumsy....ok yes he is right 😂 Fart machines are hilarious 😂😂😂😂 Hope you're well 😀
Why do British lose their accent when they sing? Vowel sounds get stretched, and the precise articulation of the consonants is lost. The result is a neutral baseline accent that sounds vaguely American. Also speech is mostly located in the left cerebral hemisphere, while singing has been primarily associated with the structures of both hemispheres Yes i copied and pasted lol. Im just lazy 😂
Singing in the British accent is by far better to my ears than the generic american sound
I blooming love you! You make my day even when I’m sad or fed up u never fail to make me laugh your dry Witt keeps me going xx
Billy Bragg does it, Arctic Monkeys do it, Biffy Clyros do it.... don't see the problem with singing in a non-mid-atlantic accent
i thought rob beckett was singing.

Loads of British bands sing in their own regional accents. I prefer it to the generic 'American' accent loads of singers put on.
The Streets
@@louisekullar6629 Perfect example. Dry your eyes, mate. Beautiful but would sound just so wrong in an American accent.
May I point out that Yesterday and Hey Jude WERE sung in a British accent. Liverpool scouse.

Madness sing in an English accent. Ian Dury. Hmm. Who else? 🤔
Blur, Pulp, Elbow, The Specials, Lily Allen...
Catatonia, super fury animals and gorky zigotic munci all sing in strong Welsh accents.
The Proclaimers, Billy Bragg, Stormzy, Shakespeare's Sister, The Specials, The Jam... It's a long list
Well that was hilarious .
its genuinely astounding how you completely misunderstood the first one.
