Well, what can I say? This definitely beats out the quality of my US 75 video, as I indicated to my viewers! I like how you first started along my favorite freeway in the region I-20, and *then* made the transition to I-45 North. Looking at a AAA or Rand McNally map, one would have no idea that the southside of Dallas is relatively undeveloped. The High Five Interchange is really, well...I don't think I could ever find the appropriate word to describe its enormity. Excellent video!
Jesus, I never been this route. At some distant views with smog the Skyline looks Freakishly big. Like Houston's.. Awesome Music and editing BTW:) You never disappoint
Well, I finally got a chance to see it. This vid rocks! I got a total workout from the track itself. And those new freeways are awesome. Excellent Work, man. UB
from wikipedia: The "High Five" name refers to the five interchange ramps that tower over the landscape. The interchange is as high as a 12-story building, and includes 37 bridges spread across five levels (the "High Five") im from just south of dallas and it amazes me every time i drive through there on my way to allen/mckinney
@ScrewdUPClickV2 Just a heads up. PGBT east section is scheduled to open December 18th. Its mostly sunken, has very interesting architecture, especially the Garland section, and includes a lake crossing and a huge interchange with I-30
From the top of my head; M-30 in Madrid, A15/A16 in Rotterdam, A40 in the Ruhr area, MKAD in Moscow, A10/A12 in Genova, but none are as spectacular as Texas/Atlanta/Los Angeles freeways. Freeways over 8 lanes are quite rare in Europe. The busiest is M-30 in Madrid @ 312,000 AADT.
Problem is they add more lanes, we add more cars and they all tailgate and cause traffic jams. I'd rather drive in the EU where they don't put up with bad drivers causing issues for everyone else. Here the bad drivers get a pass and even the cops don't set a good example.
TXDOT has definitely got its shit together man--our interchanges in Texas are just the best. And among the best, the Dallas Hi-5 is the mother of 'em all. ...But Houston still has the better skyline :p
While not as tall or as aesthetic, when the I-35E@I-635 interchange is done it will have many more ramps than this. They are basically doubling that four level stack with an entire interchange just for HOV within the already 4-level stack. Just wish they would get rid of a couple of the strange oddities of the old stack. The new part is huge though with HOV ramps running a couple of miles to the south. It and LBJ(I-635) are going to be incredible if you are into freeways.
Some of those ramps look to be about as high as the buildings next to the interchange. On a side note, I think the Dallas skyline is right up there among the most impressive in the continent (top ten best skylines in North America). Same with Houston.
@aswchris There is a very impressive and pretty four-stack in The Hague, right by the ADO Stadium. What do you think about that area? That said, I agree that in terms of overall infrastructure, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Texas are kings.
Texas infrastructure kicks ass. It makes me feel like European drivers are treated like scum ;) paying 5 times more taxes, having 1/10th of the impressive infrastructure :-P Awesome video!
Yeah, but that's only one stack. I doubt if there are more than 10 stacks in all of Europe. Germany has only one for example (and it functions like a regular exit)
If you are following closer than 3 seconds, you are tailgating and causing traffic jams and unsafe situations. The worse are people that tailgate then honk at cars trying to merge in/out of the right lane. These idiots need to lose their driver's license but something tells me many of them already have AND drive uninsured like the lady that rear ended me when I exited 294B Live Oak. She has no ins, Mexico DL and tells me it's 60MPH in the right most exit lane. She says it's my fault. I went back to 366 where she merged in from and it says 40 PLUS traffic was stopped so she was speeding like an idiot and lucky for her she didn't kill a car full of kids in a Mitsubishi micro car. Damn these assholes that need to be off the streets.
WAAAAA! What a mighty interchange! THX 4 share your trips with us!
OMG I LOVE this video. The music, the speed, EVERYTHING about it. Thanks. I really miss Dallas.

What a huge difference between then and now. A lot of new buildings have gone up and downtown, uptown and central look so much different today
Yeah, it’s kind of funny how much Dallas has changed in just a little over a decade.
the city really does a good job on the landscape along the highways
Man for a second there I thought the song was going to be a remix of Thriller. Anyhow, great vid.

Man that techno sounds like Thriller.
+shannonm75 It is.
Dallas' High-5 is the BEST interchange in Texas! Hands down!
Awesome vid, the Hi5 is impressive. I like Houston fwys the best, good ole Stack City. Dude, I gotta get there and check em out. Peace.

That must be the famous Dallas high five interchange
Sure is!
I'm having trouble seeing this video. It wont start for some reason, that rotating circle wont go away.

The 3 lns you see, is what you'll see later on typical freeways in Huntsville, Alabama. Huntsville, has been a growing city in the last 10 years!

Hey Chris,
What would you say are the most impressive stretches of freeway in Europe? Not in terms of scenery, but just overall design?
A12 in downtown Den Haag
Similar to 75
Niiiiiiiice!!!

75 scares the shit out of me....

Dallas is tight

Great!!! Americalike big scale the american scene...
Still aint doing nothing, but I'll check at the end of the day. If it dont do nothing then, its been one! Khaled D.
@shakeanbake936 You should move to Dallas! (if you can of course)
Nope, they just wait for you to wreck, then scrape you up!
US 75 is a bitch during rush hour... lol
