Best Jamiroquai performance Ive seen. The musicians are on point, the clothes, Jay Kay's vocals are impeccable, & that dance he did at the break down lmao
Toby added so many layers to the early albums, the extra keyboards were totally necessary in order to be able to get all the extra layers playing at the same time back then.
I'm all for change. The evolution of music is a good thing. But! Many of us forget that Jamiroquai is not just Jay Kay...Jamiroquai was that whole band! Stuart Zender and Toby Smith were some baaaad motherf*ckers. I think it hurt Jamiroquai to not have musicians like those guys after the 90's. Today, there's no Jamiroquai...just Jay Kay. That cannot be argued.
Definitely... that good old "band" sound that can be achieved when a group of musician have a chemical connection and just jam with groove. That sound is lost for us who look for that sound... Don't take me wrong, jamiroquai is still a great "band". Miss Zender and Toby , may he rest in peace.
2024 and still funkin' ❤❤❤. Massive jamiroquai fan, been to see them 3 times, listened to loads of live versions, but this is by far the best live version they have done of ANY song
I've been a jazz sax player for many years, and I have so much respect for this band, they have so much jazz influence in all of their music. Their music, and horn arrangements are beautiful.

Man. Its too Good. First verse is on point . And Mr percussion goes to town on them cowbells in the second verse. Fantastic line up. All musicians on fire. Oh. Did I have to mention Stu and Toby. And jk. Ahhh. And nick on drums.
One of the best performances of Jamiroquai, classic funk, where you see that the band is in the rhythm, a perfect music machine, absolutly sublime... please take to 1993 jajaja
Awesome! I didn't know they were on Conan O'Brien's program back in the day. I just thought they were the UK's best kept secret when the 1st album came out. Then they went worldwide with "Space Cowboy". See, Conan was cool cuz he always put on the youngest, freshest, hippest new acts on his show.
@@enver3764 you nailed it. I feel kinda the same about them, but their style started to change a bit before. When You Gonna Learn/Space Cowboy and Travelling were different stuff already. When they signed with Sony, things started to change. This early Jamiroquai was incredible and one of the best bands ever created. Nonetheless, they're still good, but in a different manner.
Saw them at a bear festival when they where just starting out. They where brilliant!, I said there and then to my mate, there going to be huge. Theres no one like them out there. They brought back funk and jazz....just so damn cool.
I grew up listening to JK's music 24 hours a day. Thank you for bringing happiness into my life! When I was studying in London, I listened to JK's music on the underground and bus every day. and I had the same childhood memories and life as you. I pray every day that our tears will disappear completely.
Look at that man: originality, innovation, retro-image, message, the tightest musicians, and above all fuckin groovy acid jazz. It´s all there, marrying in perfect conditions. I´m affraid there won´t be ever a band like this again. So sad it only lasted for 5 years
Outros tempos.
This takes me back. I was learning modern harmony (jazz piano) in the early 90s. Got myself into Herbie Hancock, etc. Got a Rhodes Piano and a bunch of mates who were on the same path. Had a D6 Clavinet and a Minimoog D. It was great. We didn't have any hits, but we had the funk. My mate bass player ben and I had the magic connection as well. I still love it. Shouldn't have sold my old gear though. Got a Nord now. It's lighter and less prone to breaking, but it's not so good. It was good to be alive at this time. They were a bit older and a load better. I wonder when it'll come back around.
I posted a video response for you of the Funkanauts. By the way, I am such a Jamiroquai fan that I have bought everything I could CD and DVD wise of them since they first appeared on the scene. They are great and even with band member changes, they are fantastic.
I think Jamiroquai is the best (and one of the only) funk bands of the past 25 years. But it all started with 70s funk and disco. Too many bands to mention, but Earth, Wind, & Fire is WAY up there. Check it out. You might wanna check out Steely Dan too (also from the 70s). Very jazzy and funky. I "discovered" them around the same time as Jamiroquai, and fell in love with both bands! You might like them.
Nicolas, you are soooo right! Actually, the original drummer (Nick Van Gelder) was the architect of the Jamiroquai sound. After he left, Toby and Stu kept the "sound" going, but once Stu left, you could hear the difference in "Dynamite." Once Toby cleared out, the "acid jazz" sound was totally gone although Nick Fyfe did what he could to keep it funky. Overall, Jay Kay had to roll with new musicians which makes it hard to believe what this group once was... "To Much Change in this case.."
cyberpsych1 Well, you are mistaken. Toby wanted to keep the same old style of jamiroquai. That's why he left in 2002 during a funky odessey. They kept saying that he had family obligations but the truth is that jay kay fucked this band over. He was selfish by not respecting his teammates.
Damn the original lineup was the shit. so tight.
Best Jamiroquai performance Ive seen. The musicians are on point, the clothes, Jay Kay's vocals are impeccable, & that dance he did at the break down lmao
Me encanta JAMIROQUAI BRILLANTES❤
I love that Toby Smith brought four different keyboards for 1 song!!! CLASSIC!
Absolutely 💓. Only the Best
They loved their creation
Toby added so many layers to the early albums, the extra keyboards were totally necessary in order to be able to get all the extra layers playing at the same time back then.
stuart zender is sooooo amazing . like his playing has such a presence
I peeped it. Zender had crazy swag in that performance. I was like 12 when this aired swag wasn't even a popular word this aired.
Ah, the original lineup - There's nothing quite like it. Happy days❤😊

This is what turned me on to Jamiroquai in '93. And it's been a love affair ever since.
1993 , gazelle ,rekord adidas old 70s suede shoes , levis corduroy bootcut ...and funkytastic clothes we found in paris flea market with our soundtrack from his first masterpiece acid soul funk jazz album....
i love how this is jay kay's natural voice cuz most people sound just horrible live but jamirouai's recorded stuff is so true to to the actual
I think his vocals are worse on the album because of the over production. He's always spot on live.
Come on man, that new bassline from Zender is incredible
it feels find of like a blend between the demo and the release, this has the didgeridoo and the full band but it also has the synth chords from the demo and the high notes that jay kay sang at the end
toby smith a great and underrated keyboardist. r.i.p
God, this music is the classiest funk music, I have ever heard.
Acid Jazz
Loving this alternate bass line !
Best band forever and ever !!
oh yes xx
Love the higher tempo they play live - saw them at Newcastle Riverside June 93 & was amazed how tight they were for a bunch of young guys
The bassist is like 19-20 years old here. FML.

So fresh and funky
