One death that caught me by surprise was in Pokemon X/Y. There's an old man in Anister City whose wife has passed on and he's feeling lonely. He asks for a Pokemon below level 5 to raise and take care of. If you give him one and come back later (a few days or so, though you can also visit him and he'll tell you he's feeling younger), you'll find your Pokemon in it's pokeball, along with a note thanking you and a comet shard.
Just found you after watching after watching your video on Fear And Hunger 2, your videos are amazing and I love your commentary! You could definitely make it as a youtuber. But I would also like to say that showing this many spoilers in a video is definitely a viewer retention drop-off. Maybe say spoiler warning right before you start talking about that subject to keep the viewer retention up. Really enjoy your videos.
For Lassy! Great video man. Absolutely loved it. I really like your inclusion of a NUZLOCKE story. Death in a cutscene can be very impactful, but there is something extra when it isnt scripted; it becomes your own personal story. You might even feel legitimate guilt and anguish at your actions in a way an unavoidable cutscene could never do. They are really rare in games and probably for good reason. But in a way, that also makes them that much more special; when a game can make you feel that way.
For Lassy! That's exactly it dude. You hit the nail on the head. That feel of a game's systems or implemented rules adding to your personal narrative is incredibly cool. Thanks so much for checking this out Andrew!
Really glad to get in on the ground floor on your channel man, you’re a great creator keep it up! Amazing observations, a great storyteller, and awesome production quality (especially for a new channel). You’re gonna go far dude!
Man this is such a nice comment, thanks for taking the time for the kind words and taking part. Hope I can continue making some cool stuff you can enjoy!
I've always found death unfortunate but perhaps there is just something wrong with me but I don't seem to experience loss the same way others do. Wish I could understand how others seem to expect me to feel. Interesting to watch videos on it but a part of me knows I'll never experience it the same way.
Honestly, I feel like Horsefonts death would have hit harder if we had more time with him. Like, he is there at the start, but basically vanishes once you go to deal with ishgard where the majority of the character building and comradery is made. I think if he was with us the whole time. I will say, the finality in his life is something that I do think FFXIV has lost. There just doesnt feel consequences in the game anymore. At least not personal. Like ShB and EW have no lasting scars or many changes on the party outside of giving future motivations. There is no lingering effects on Y'shtola using her soul (aether) to basically see for 3 years. Thancred, while he did finally let Minfilia go, his character doesnt show much more maturity that he already did. Uriange is the same in ever regard. The twins, also havent changed at all.
Man I saw Haurchefant placed so early and the video and was thinking.. How can any other death top that? Moments later.. LASSY NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoOoOoOoOoOOoooo
I know this late but damnit, I need to talk about Persona 3, so spoilers for Persona 3 as a whole, including the Answer. During the events of P3, the members of SEES grow as people, connect with each other, trying to end the Dark Hour. During the operation of October, two of the members meet in an alley, a young boy with a spear and nothing to lose, and a man who holds the Hierophant arcana and borrowed time. As the others rush to their location, the older man takes a bullet for the kid, telling him to use his anger as his strength. While this is impactful, even causing a stir to respect him at his funeral, the final hour or two is where everything clicks. Facing down the Promised Day and the arrival of death, a young man’s journey as a fool over the previous year draws out a power to create a miracle at a price. Floating up to core of Death, he endures against the one that can’t be defeated, using the words of those who stood by his side against the end, and burns the dread that threatened the world he loved to seal away Nyx. Afterwards, on graduation day, he rests his head on the lap of a young woman who has gained humanity, listening to her voice while growing more and more tired….closing his eyes after reuniting with everyone. That young man was a dead man walking after sealing away Nyx, with his spirit unable to rest until he is no longer needed, until all of Humanity can enjoy life and not yearn for death, enjoying the time they have with others. Ever since that fight in 2010, a woman within dream and reality has been on a journey to help him rest, all while wielding the persona that represented Death. Shinjiro Aragaki and Makoto Yuki faced Death to the bitter end, and have impacted the Megami Tensei community and those who have experienced the story of the Wild Card who remembered his mortality and burned the dread of those he connected with.
Didnt know there was death in pokemon damn, I loved this video, introducing the stories of people death's and its impact. For me the saddest death was from assassination classroom (Spoilers) I actually cried when korosensei died, he was such a good character.
