Glad to see someone for a change 'cracking off' tight fastenings with a bar rather than abusing a ratchet drive. Looking forward to watching more of this series! You might also find that the water outlet channel in the LHS rear side of the engine where the drain tap is attached, is also clogged up: a common issue on the A series engine I believe.
looking good, are you going back to the green or going for a more racy red lol? The rocker cover could be off an 1100 '71 Van or Traveller as they were badged as Austin in the last few years and it could have been a cheap attempt by a previous owner to make it look like an 1100 at a glance to fool mates in the day. Their are a mish mash of parts on the engine so anything is possible. Bore it out and oversize the pistons, keep the compression low and go for a Shorrock Supercharger. It would make for a nice addition and for a very jealous following.
@@goingundersground Shorrock Superchargers were designed for the MOWOG cars, they provide about 4 to 7 psi boost and are about the same size as the A-series motor to look at, but make the car perform close to modern (not quite) standards. they came out late '50's early 60's and are impressive. You can still get them either in bad or working condition and still get parts for them. Unfortunately they are a bit pricy but well worth it.
That seemed to come apart nicely.
Enjoy your videos and look forward to more as you complete the project
Thanks Toby
Nice job Tim, you make it look easy 👍 Look forward to the next one.
All the best Johnny
I'd get the videos up sooner but b****y work gets in the way...!

OK many thanks, I'll take a look at that as I continue the stripdown
I’ve been hoping you would post up engine work. Very much looking forward to seeing your approach to an engine refresh 👍
Thanks - its a voyage of discovery for me!
Thanks a lot Tim. Very interesting and helpful.
Great video Tim just taken my 1098 engine out of the car this week will be doing the same as you very well explained will be watching future video 👍
Thanks Sean!
Always had a soft spot for the A series, nice small and simple engine that you can get anything for 👍
So far so good...!
nice job

I'm going to use MOWOG green for paint. Yes the engine is a 'bitsa' for sure. Not sure about a supercharger...the car will shake itself apart!
