アナログシンセサイザーみたいな風貌ですが、一番評価された音がなぜか「ダンスピアノ」という。
かつてEOSの開発アドバイザーだった小室哲哉が「何とは言わんが某JD-800みたいなピアノサウンドがEOSに入ってるといいですね」的な事をヤマハの技術者にお願いしたとかしなかったとか。
私は聞き比べた事が無いので確証はありませんが、おそらく92年以降に出たEOSのピアノはちょっとそれっぽい音がするんじゃないかと。

このファンタスティックな世界観はピアノでもエレピでもオルガンでもオークストラでも出来ない、シンセサイザーでしかなし得ないものですね。

おーついに！ 一時期所有してましたが、存在感のあるシンセでした。
80年代の素朴で無機質な感じでもなく、今のシンプルで洗練された感じでもなく、
昔のMacのUIみたいな、リッチでリアリティを突き詰めてたころの「デジタル」。
JD-800は、そんな雰囲気が伝わるサウンドですね～

きましたJD-800！当時高校生でしたが、このルックスには一発でやられましたね。
パネルを埋め尽くすスライダー群がたまらない。これも憧れの1台です。

Surely it is king of the digital synths!
Man I lusted after one of these when I was young. Played in a band for a good long while. Was able to rent this a number of times and got a pretty good feel for it but it never materialized as a full-on purchase; can't even remember why as I did have the money (or, eventually I did) at the time, mostly from gigs. Wonderful trip down memory lane, Ujiie! Thanks.
I was the same way when the Yamaha Motif came out.
30年前のシンセとは思えないほど、良い音しますね！しかも24音ポリとはね！入手したくなりました！アッパレ！！
実機所有してますが、Roland特有の工業製品としての出来はイマイチ、音もそう太くはありませんが、ベロシティの強弱による表情の豊かさ、オリジナリティ溢れるエレキギターソロ音、レゾナンスのエゲツない利き方が本機の特徴だと思います。
そして、見た目も今見てもカッコいい。所有欲で満たされる(^_^;)
ローランドってキレと余韻ですよね。
ビールで言うとスーパードライみたいな。
ヤマハがキリンラガーみたいな感じで
コルグが黒ラベル、みたいなイメージｗ

エンソは、それこそスパイス感満載のユーロの輸入ビールといった感じでしょうか。

This one is my favourite Roland Synthesizer. Beat and versatile sounding synth. I am searching for used one. ❤️
it isnt versatile at all. It sounds like 1991 in a bad way and that is all it seems capable of.
People claim it can also do analog sounds, but do those fools not realize that you can just get analog synths now? not terrible digital 1991 approximations of analog.
@@djangofett4879 If anyone is claiming the JD-800 makes "analogue sounds" they clearly either 1) do not understand what analogue is or 2) have never used a JD-800. It was clearly built and marketed as digital unit but unlike the D-50 or Korg M1, etc. didn't have all of it's parameters buried under endless menus. I love the sound of 1991 ;) I pair mine with a Yamaha SRX1000 and have made some amazing sounds with that combo.

ソフト出たけどやっぱり実機がほしい
JUPITER-XにJD-800をインストールして使ってますが、全てのプリセットが実機とほぼ変わらない音色でした。めっちゃいいシンセです
インストールってどうやってやるんですか？

I may had understood JD-800 is based on D-50 that I really like for it's amazing big crytal-sound... this JD-800 seems to be an "hyper-D50", a real "synthetic church" ^^

Nice synth but REALLY TERRIBLE build quality. Key glue melted one summer day, my keyboard is worthless junk now. Roland tech support is entirely indifferent.

当時、中学生でしたが、憧れのシンセでした。現代のデジタルシンセでも全てのパラメーターの操作子をパネルにつけて欲しいといつも思ってます。

Thanks Master for this presentation of this wonderfull synth... And as now we all know the good new: Roland will deliver soon the remake of this iconic synth in the boutique format: the JD-08... Of course, with some (nice?) improvements... And obviously, it will be a strike... And we can be sure there won't be a lot available, so be fast if you want one... ;-)
UJIIE missed his calling as a yacht rock God! The 800 was a legend as well as the 990. Hardware prices are ludicrous. If you're trying to sell one...hate to burst your bubble, but you can get the software version dirt-cheap at Roland with the Zenology software synth, and the 800 expansion. If you're trying to buy one.....now you know where to go!
Hate to burst your bubble...but it is ridiculous to think that software can replace the interface of this synth
@@AnalogNoiseLab Yes sadly they didn't reproduce the Red Glue problem that killed a lot of synths with this keybed :)
@@Cortez77fr A problem that can be fixed. I have restored 2 JD800 so far. And it does not affect the synth engine. So if you are lazy you can plug in a MIDI keyboard.
I have both the Roland Cloud version and the hardware version (with glue issue fixed before any damage occurred). I can't explain it precisely, but the physical unit is just....different....than the Roland Cloud version. Haven't tried the new boutique versions yet but they are interesting as the JD-800 is physically huge and takes up a lot of space in my studio, but I love it.
シンセサイザーの音を世に広めた小室さんはTMのデビュー時からYAMAHAのサポートを受け続けていました。しかし、TMNのラストライブのメイン機はRolandのJD800であったし、プロデュース業に移ってからのヒット作にもJD800の音をふんだんに使っていましたね。
他のシンセの音が良くなるって言って、MIDI通してマスターとしても使ってましたからね。
Love this demo. Some great sounds, here. I would love to get the JD-800 add on for the Jupiter-X. These things tend to be a nightmare to maintain, and the rest of us don't have a time machine to go back to 1991 like Katsunori, unfortunately. ;)

The JD-800 "add-on" is just an overlay for the same ole zencore engine, just like all the rest. Very mediocre. It's not even a model.
@@ChrisP3000x I like what I have heard from those who posted demos of it, and it's going to be much cheaper than trying to get my hands on an 800/990, if you're lucky enough to find one for sale.. To each their own. 🍻
@@neuromancer9k I agree. Something is sometimes better than nothing. But that doesn't say much. Is there a reason you won't play it yourself?.....You don't have Roland Cloud?
@@ChrisP3000x Absolutely... The JD800 was a romper really... Great digital filters... but it was the hands on, access to parameters........ Unfortunalety , they chose the output automation from the surface as Sysex...... eurgh....
@@ChrisP3000x It literally sounds EXACTLY the same. like 100% exactly the same. Zencore is an advanced rompler technology. Jd-800 is an incredibly dated rompler from 30 yrs ago. its not hard to recreate something like that with the new tech
I remember seeing it when i was buying my first synth a Yamaha sy85. Never regretted getting it but this was fabulous too.

Yuji-San, in order to manipulate the patches you have to make sure the correct layers are active… push the layers>active button!

１音につき全く同じ構成のチャンネルを最大４つまでレイヤーできて、操作パネルには各チャンネル用にミュートとエディットのスイッチが４つづつあるフォーマット。近代ローランドの始祖と言えるモデルですね。
これを触った事がある人ならファントムやガイア、JD-XA等も全体像を感覚的に把握する事ができます。
Absolutely correct 100%. Roland also put a similar synth engine in MC-505. In my opinion, S+S digital synthesis is remarkable, wonderful and creative.

ウルトラマンダイナのライフゲージ音はこれで作ったなあ。ガイアのフォトンストリームの音もこれのプリセット音源を加工して作ってました。すごく良い音が作れるシンセですね。

ハウスミュージックでは、M1ピアノとJDピアノのどちらがメジャーだったんですか？
おそらくですが、世界的にはm1のほうが使われていると思います。m1はかなり売れた機種でしたし。
jd800もハウスで使われていたと思いますが、この機種は動画で御大も仰ってるとおり某tkが全盛期に色んな楽曲で使いまくっていたので、日本人の耳にはこちらのほうがお馴染みなんだと思われます。
m1もjd800もどちらもピアノ音はそれぞれいいところがあります。
jd800は53番ばかり注目されますが、何気にMIDIピアノやエレピも良い音が出ます。

音色もカッコいいんですけど、やっぱり本体のコクピット感を実機で味わってみたいですね。
ローランドさんもう一度製造してくれませんか？
JD-800を小さくしたブティークシリーズとして発売されるそうですよ。

Does anyone know if JD-800 has the same PCM waveforms as MC-505? Would love to get my hands on a JD-800, to see how they programmed the signature patches. MC-505 is great sounding, as a synth, in my opinion.

JD-XA愛用してますが、何故アナログなのにバリバリのデジタルのJDを冠したのか、不思議だったけど、垣間見えた気がした、この動画みて。やはり、エディットが感覚的に出来るのは良い。JD-800のピアノは今も使われてますね。一度は使ってみたい。

My dream synth.
30年前のシンセですが、このJD－800は、デジタルなのにアナログ感覚で、音の加工が、出来る事と音の厚さと音の抜けが良いシンセです。Jupiter－8に次ぐ名機だと思います。
純正のハ－ドケースと共に未だに手元にあります。
当時の価格は、30万です。
ご存知の方いらっしゃいましたらご教授下さいm(__)m
1994年のＴＭＮ終了ライブの
the point of lovers nightの間奏でお客さんとのコーラスレスポンスがあるのですが、小室さんがそのとき、JD800の真ん中あたりのボタン？をぐいっと押すシーンがあります。その時、「キューン」とレゾナンスががった高音が鳴るのですがパネルのどの部分でしょうか？
または、JD800ではない？笑

Recently they also have released a plugin version, so you don‘t need Zenology. Which is why they made a new GUI looking like the original hardware.
I dont understand the love for this machine. It sounds so cheesy in a bad way and like it should only be used in a Michael McDonald song that plays during the credits of a disney movie from 1991 to 1993. This sound was already severely dated by 1994.
I bought a Jd-990 when they were going for 300 on ebay. Now theyre going for over 1500.... RIDICULOUS! Why would anyone pay that for a machine that only makes depressingly cheesy 1991 sounds?
