Granada TV was a great channel to watch back in the 1970's and 80's as a child, teenager and young man - I remember the continuity announcers such as Jim Pope and Charles Forster and back then the regional ITV areas had quite varied coverage, not like today's almost identical 'ITV' coverage - there was much more regional variation in the schedules then - 'Out of Town; with Jack Hargreaves, Sale of the Century from Anglia and all the TV idents like Westward TV and ATV. Great days that are sadly missed by this 57 year old.
Possibky quite early in the eighties, judging from the visual clues here.I think the typeface used for 'Graham James' was also that used by Westward for 'The Television Programme' And the lettering on that Granada ident seen at the end - thinner, perhaps, than that used in 'Granada Colour Production' frontcaps at the time?

that same font was used by the BBC on Grandstand in the late 70s/early 80s
