Bravoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo por siempre ALICIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The finest Spanish piano concerto, in my opinion. Goes off with a bang and ends in high sprits, and the middle section is of rare beauty, reminding me of Rodrigo's famous slow movement from Concerto de Aranjuez. I have always cherished Alicia's LP recording, coupled with Surinach's concerto, but this live performance is hardly less impressive. Thanks for posting !!!
Again, amazing how AdL played this concerto. She must have been able to memorize modern works like this very easy. From childhood she had already this enormous talent I read in all the documentaries and video's. I did not hear this concerto before. Just looked into the EMI CD box, and is was there! I probably overlooked it...Montsalvatge is a very good composer, however outside Spain his works are not very well known. Hope young pianists like Volodos en Perianes will take over to perform these works all over the world, like AdL did!
Saludos.
I'm surprised that she played such a muscular piece as this as late as 1999...I heard a couple of technically precarious recitals from her during the 90's, which is when her playing started to become unreliable...completely forgivable, however, as aging affects the ability of all of us, even those those as supremely gifted as she was.
@40340312 she was indeed exceptional, no doubt...even a genius...all the more remarkable for being the self-effacing munchkin she was...Yuga Wang, Lang Lang, Katia Buniatashvilli and others should follow her example...it might even improve their playing
Maravillosa musica

This is just wonderful. Late period Larrocha, but with such humility and wisdom.
Maravillosa
Maravilha! Gracias por compartilhar.
Alicia de Larrocha (1923-2009) is 75/76 in this 1999 performance. Impressive at any age!

Saludos!
Brilliant!

This is a very good performance of this muscular piece...
Well she was still playing Iberia and Goyescas, La Vega, Turina Danzas Fantasticas, Falla Bætica and they’re all muscular.
It's more important to have a 'muscular' brain rather than muscles..exceptional Alicia
