Thanks for taking me fishing again! You guys are real gents!!! I thought I would share that I use the guides knot on my duck and goose floaters. Thank you Jerry, and blessings to you!!!
You guys tore them up Jerry. Love the graph shots, really helps you visualize how those whites orient under the bait schools! We have a rule out west, you see bird activity you most likely will catch fish. As always, I appreciate you sharing your lifetime of fishing knowledge with all of us!
Hey Jerry - - the way you two were hauling them in, it's a good thing Sharon wasn't along. There wouldn't be any whites left in Truman. I take it that that is where you were, seeing that you have been working Tru over for the last couple of months. The trolling speed with that new boat and motor must be just on the dot for this whiteys. Thanks for the trip.
William, you are right on. The 2.0 to 2.5 MPH is perfect for White Bass. When I start trolling for Walleye and Crappie I will have to use the electric trolling motor. Thanks as always.
Nathen, they are not baitcasters. They are line-counter reels designed specifically for trolling. Casting them could damage the dials. The reels I use are Diawa 100 and the ABU Garcia 5500. The reels have line counters on them that tell you how far your lure is from the rod holder in the boar. Thanks for a great question.
We were using the gas motor and it was going between 2.1 MPH and 2.5 MPH depending on the wind direction. That is an ideal speed for White Bass. Thanks for stopping by and responding.
What a neat fishing experience. The times I have gone fishing you told me the oxygenation of the water was bad and the fish were sick and didn't want to bite. Can you tell me the best times to avoid this? I plan my vacation time around my fishing efforts and the last two years have been duds.
This is not a generic affair. It was relating to a specific time and place you were fishing. It had to do with de-oxygenated water caused by the Thermocline. It happens on still water in lakes from approximately the middle of June until some time in September. I did a video a year or so back that explains it.
