I am glad to hear that Brandon Flowers shares my view of Donald Trump. You see, my Granny (1934-2024) and Grandad (1934-2016) lived in Eastbourne from 1995 until their respective deaths. Dad always used to drive me down, although nowadays I usually take myself down on the train instead. The journey to Eastbourne by road lasted more than an hour, and the route passed through the South Downs, which are full of chalk. So we would usually have a CD playing in the car - often an album by The Killers. As a result, I make a mental connection between The Killers and not only Eastbourne, but East Sussex more generally. You see, I remember looking out of the window on the journey and seeing the Long Man of Wilmington (a Celtic hill figure near the town of Polegate, which is very near Eastbourne). We would also sometimes stop off at Middle Farm in Lewes. While we were down in Eastbourne visiting Granny and Grandad, we would sometimes go to Drusillas Park (in the nearby village of Alfriston), as well as visiting a pub somewhere near Lewes called The Barley Mow (with Granny and Grandad, of course). So I make a mental connection between The Killers and not only Eastbourne, but East Sussex more generally. I went on protest marches against Trump's visits to the United Kingdom in 2018 and 2019. I ordered an East Sussex flag specially, because an effigy of Trump was burnt at the 2016 Lewes Bonfire Celebrations. So the flag of East Sussex was an ideal anti-Trump symbol to me (Lewes is the county town of East Sussex). So Brandon Flowers *not* being a Trump supporter is good news, because although Granny and Grandad have both died, the mental connection that I make between The Killers and East Sussex isn't going anywhere.
They’re immensely talented, I’ve been listening to the killers for only 4 years, but they’re hugely impacted my life. This is quite cringy, but I honestly have one friend whom I barely have talked to during this whole situation, and it’s been rough. Lonely all the time. But music is the one thing that keeps me going!
The Killers aman México y México ama a The Killers ¡nunca dejen de venir!
