- Ayy man today I am doing a tier list covering some of the most common excuses we hear from fighters after they lose fights including absolute golden lines dropped by Israel Adesanya after losing to Sean Strickland, Jon Jones fans, Conor McGregor, Dana White, Darren Till, Paddy Pimblett, Nate Diaz, Kevin Holland, TJ Dillashaw, Aljamain Sterling and MORE. The "he looked off" cope is by far the worst one. The average MMA fan can't wrap his mind around the possibility that dominant fighters like Whittaker and Adesanya can be bested.
Agreed. I’m a Whittaker fan and after the DDP fight I thought he looked off but it was really just dricus was too big and strong and showed up better than Whittaker on his best night imo.
Izzy didn’t look off at all. He fought how he usually fights. That was a terrible decision against Sean. Staying on the back foot and trying to point fight with a guy like him is dumb and Adesanya payed the price for his terrible game plan

The most s-tier excuse I’ve ever seen is Conor sitting on the mat with his leg in a pretzel yelling “DOCTOR STOPPAGE!!”
And they gave him his doctor stoppage. Shows of you complain enough you get what you want

Bad stoppage is definitely A tier, we all know those guys who are getting absolutely battered and can’t do anything but the SECOND the ref steps in, they try to get up as quickly as possible and start complaining

I feel location of the fight should’ve been C tier because we all saw how badly fighters do at higher altitudes unless they train at higher altitudes and it’s not something most fighters realise until they’re there

Most annoying part is most of those excuses are bad preparation. If you take a fight while injured that’s on you. If you injure yourself in camp by working hard and not smart that’s on you. If you had a bad night and looked of that’s on you. They never praise they opponent for preparing better

The media does it because of views Izzy’s losses are trending why wouldn’t you use it as content. The mma fans are thinking that the UFC is some kind of political party where if you campaign long enough the person you want in office will become elected. Which is actually an effective tactic only thing is unlike WWE the cage fights are not scripted. That same fighter that talked his way into a contender/title fight by popularity still has to perform. Good on Sean for coming out on top after the opportunity was presented but guys like Till, Raul Rosas Jr, Bryce Mitchell, Pimblett are great examples of biting off more than they can chew

The worst post fight reviews I have ever seen is Jorge-Colby one, nobody (fighters and analysists) except Brett Okamoto gave credit to Colby's superior performance for his 5 rounds mauling of Masvidal. Everyone just talked about how tired and 'off' Jorge looked and how the trash talks played into his mind. In Sean Strickland's case we had DC and Laura praising Sean's performance and fighter like Bisping giving credit to Sean.
The "bored/not motivated"excuse should be D tier & the "looked off" excuse Is a slightly better D tier possibly c tier excuse.
The only reason why These 2 Ambiguous excuses are effective is becuz there is a bunch of stupid & biases fans Who will say and do anything, such as advocating for these false narratives In order to protect their favorite fighters from legitimate-criticism.

Even so that still doesnt make any sense. If a contender is deemed a big challenge by the mma scene then ofcourse you cant be bored. On the other hand if someone is considered a bum you should be able to beat them unmotivated if you really are this dominant champ.
