Да что ж вы все о Стравинском..... А Шуберт какой прозвучал!!!! Сколько душевной боли, невозможной, невысказанной! Как продуманно выстроена форма, как выразительны интонации, как все ПОНЯТНО!!!!! Супер!

@@progressive59 The jury gave 1st prize to Peter Donohoe. Of course his interpretations were of highest quality. But there was no revelation in them. It was in Natalia Trull's performance.
Fantastic performance by a very underrated artist. Her Petrushka is one of the best I've heard, vividly spectacular and full of orchestral colour. I have the LP of part of this recital so it's great after so long, to hear the Danse Russe!, thank you very much!
I am learning this piece now and I have to say imho this is the benchmark. I hope I can do it justice like she did.

Моё мнение: Наталья настоящий победитель того Конкурса им. Чайковского! Не Барри Дуглас, которому дали скорее по политическим соображениям, нежели за пианистическое мастерство. Время было непростое. Перестройка. Тесные взаимоотношения между Великой Британией и СССР, между Маргарет Тэтчер и Михаилом Горбачёвым...

I saw this lady perform when the competition was first broadcast back in the late 1980s and there was no doubt in my mind then and there is still no doubt now that she was robbed of first place by the interference of politics. Granted Barry Douglas gave a fine performance of Pictures at an Exhibition in his second round but Natalia Trull’s third round concerto knocked him out of the park.
Damn.. can't help tapping my foot in the last mvt, Stravinsky! so groovy n catchy. Wish I could have been in that hall at least for the ending of the stravinsky, when all the bells of Russia toll and bring the house down. 36:36 Blood rush! Wish these youtube concert artists would take requests. Would love to hear Maestro Trull play Glinka's Lark.

I'm also puzzled. Assuming she found it difficult to concertize outside the USSR under the Soviet regime, she could have done so after 1991. I've been a fan since 1986 when I watched a video of the highlights of this competition.
And now she is being known as the teacher of Elisey Mysin who is now becoming well known at a very young age.

Competitions are good because unknown players get many listeners huge growds and audience! And the jury members are famous players! Perfect exsample is Tchaikovsky competition in 1966! The growd and audience loved Mischa Dichter! The critic writers their favourite was Victor Eresko(critics calling Eresko new Busoni) Good lord jury Emil Gilels gave the first prize to Grigory Sokolov! If we do not have these competitions we would be slaves of no talented news paper critic writers and concert moguls!
