    Nice bird songs at beginning. Helpful to know to monitor egr % live, I have Autel diagnostic tool so can perform this. Don't know how to check if T21 recall was performed. Thanks for the difficult to film and edit video.

      Look at the module data. The version number will start with a 9 if the T-21 is completed.

    Thanks for the video! I have a 2006 Sprinter with an OM612 engine and 240,000 miles. My Autel AP200 is showing code P1403-32. The EGR valve only opens to 4% when the engine is idling, and the boost stays around 1100. If I clear the code, the valve opens to 65% and the boost increases to 1900 when I accelerate or drive faster. However, when the boost drops, the valve closes back to 4%, and the code reappears. It runs fine until it idles again.
    I cleaned the EGR valve because the arm was sticking, but now it moves freely with no buildup. Before replacing the EGR valve, should I consider the MAF sensor as a potential issue, or could it be an electronic problem with the EGR? While the code is active, the van smokes, but there’s no engine light. It can reach 70 mph, but struggles uphill, which feels like limp mode. After watching this video, I’ll pay closer attention to the fuel mixture numbers and consider resetting the ECU.

    T21 recall. What is the brief description of that? Was that the emissions recall?

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, emissions recall campaign started in 2016 on vans that were all 10-12 years old. The real was a fiasco causing many vans to be held hostage at dealerships waiting for parts more than a year.

    Bill I wonder if this is my issue with feeling sluggish in hot weather? I did the resistor thing and it runs great for 15 min or so then no boost? No codes either. Just no boost. I need to plug in AUTEL and look at this.

    • @infinityphotorob
      @infinityphotorob 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And yes turning off and back on reset my limp. Then again in about 15 min. Removing resistor all normal. But why does resistor work so well on some vans?

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      When the EGR value stays at 6% the EGR is not asked to open up. A long as it is not asked to do anything the resistor appears like an EGR. As soon as the van tries to open the EGR and air flow does not change at the MAF, a code will pop with limp mode. There should be a code.

    👍 Thanks, I'll be keeping an eye out on this. I'm new to my 06 View (2005 chasis) and don't have anything to compare to as far as lagging, any way to know without using an Autel (on the way) or similar by just driving? If I missed it in the video, sorry.

      There are a few ways to tell if your van is effected, but they all require a compatible code reader and EGR value is by far the simple way. Others require calculating for sea-level, dirty air filters etc.

    my van didn’t have the t21 recall but my EGR is not stuck at 6%. So is my van slowly adapting to those lower settings because my MAF is now 2 years old?

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm still exploring potential causes and preventative measures. So far the cause seems to be a slowly failing MAF but the dealership documents for T-21 recall procedures don't address this and don't seem to anticipate stuck command values.

      @@roberts6236 I will insist we verify the reset is needed. I'm finding some tricks work with other vans. Tricks that I didn't deliberately try but surely would have stumbled onto if they worked on my first test subjects. Simply unplugging the EGR to set a code, then clearing the code might* have a way of kickstarting the EGR commands. Driving at severe altitude seems to have some unexplained impact also.

    Hey man, thank you for the video! So I have a 2004 Sprinter and I tried unplugging the EGR and I put a resistor exactly how you had it in the video. So, I start driving the van and it was driving fine for about 30 min in the city. And then it went into a limp mode, no check engine light. I pulled over and turned the van off unplugged the resistor and plugged back the EGR. Since that I feel like my van is a lot slower. It looks like maybe I need the same reset that you did on yours? Since you have the scanner and the computer to do that. Can we meet up somewhere and can you do that reset for me please? Please let me know! Thank you!

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Reset the engine code. If you don;'t have a code unplug the EGR and drive a short distance until you do have a code then clear it with a code reader. Best to do with a compatible code reader like AP200 but I believe a generic code reader at any auto parts store will do this simple task.
      Then monitor your EGR value. This will require a code reader.

    "vans may be running on reduced power with weak fuel/air mix and EGR not opening" ... buts what wrong? When EGR is stuck close all time, then your Air mass will be around ~500mg/hub. Thats wrong? Thats better case, than EGR stuck OPEN, and all time infect clean air with smoke.

    • @FloridaVanMan
