    I come from a high end Hi Fi background. Three way is better then two way. Around late 1970s Braun speakers of Germany invented the soft dome tweeter. They had a full line of three way speakers. In the store I worked we sold Mcintosh, Tandberg, Bang and Olfsun, Crown, Yamaha (best electronics out of Japan at the time). We did not sell Advent speaker and kLH, Jbl , Altec Lansing and AR which were all popular at the time. But we never lost a sale to them. Braun later imported there drivers and a company ADS made the same speakers in USA. I personally had a pair of ADS 710s which were three way with double 7 inch whoofers. To this day I have not heard a speaker that sounded better. The coax idea is Genius. Kef has a best selling speaker LS 50 metas and they are coaxial design.
    So as much as I love Yamaha, and I think they had best quality studio monitors because of there speakers and amps (which they use in studio monitors) I would say best results would be a quality three way speaker. Sorry about long explanation!

    • @GBS-nt4tt
      @GBS-nt4tt 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Oh and by the way Yamaha at the time made a very high quality speaker called the NS 1000 with beriliym tweeters (for home hifi or mixing) in Ebony wood!
      But as beautiful as they were, when playing next to Braun 810s, well I never sold a Yamaha NS1000 against them. Yamaha makes great pianos and mixing boards.

    These speakers will resist phase cancellation; Here is what Kali says: in fact there design resist phase cancellation, here is what they say: Coaxial speaker designs - in which multiple transducers are placed concentrically on the same acoustical axis - aren’t vulnerable to this problem. With coaxial studio monitors, as the listener moves off-axis in any direction, the geometry of the transducers’ distances to the listening location remains consistent.
    “Having concentric speakers means you don’t get those off-axis phase cancellations. You get a much stronger stereo image, and you can hear much more detail,” says Baglyos.

    Thanks for the great video. I'm curious why you'd say they aren't enjoyable for music playback. I'm in the market for midfield monitors for casual use because I sit about 8 feet away from my tv. I also love the imaging benefit of concentric designs having owned Elac and currently Tannoy speakers. In the case that these in8 feel fatiguing for playback wouldn't the treble -3 dipswitch do the trick?

    I've been using IN-5's strapped to a WS-6.2 and the sound is incredible for the money. However I've just moved to a much bigger room so I'm going to swap up to the 8's to let the top bins breathe a bit more. The WS-6.2 sub is incredible and fully I recommend it, the biggest surprise was that the sound stage got even bigger with the sub taking the very lows out of the tops. Superb! 😎

    • @ju1ceaudio

    • @raphabmroque
      @raphabmroque 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You've got my dream audio setup IN-5 + WS 6.2. Do you really think the upgrade to the IN-8 is necessary? Cause, as they say, the smaller the woofer/speaker, the faster the transients. So, with that said, IN-5 might sound "sharpier"? Idk if upgrading to IN-8 would improve anything for you, but only downgrade your transients perception. I would love to hear what is your experience with these. Thanks!

    Great video, I love your B-roll and editing!
    How would these compare to the older Neumann KH120As, which used go for the same price?
    They're a smaller 2-way design more comparable with the IN-5s.
    Undoubtably much higher build quality, but the Kalis have that 3-way design.

    • @ju1ceaudio
      @ju1ceaudio  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I feel like the 3 way design is always much better. After going back to 2 way it sounds like a hole in the quality of the midrange.

      @josuastangl7140 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ju1ceaudio Interesting, so you would place the IN-8s above pretty much any 2-way design?
      The Kalis are kind of the only 3-way option, especially in a formfactor/size comparable to the IN-5s, until you’re willing to spend multiples more.
      What pulls me towards the Neumanns is that they’re super established in the industry.
      I know quite a few professionals who either worked on the KH120s or still use them in their Atmos builds or for other purposes.
      I see them everywhere here in Germany and have worked on them a few times, just never owned a pair.
      The Kalis are more than a decade newer, but all I see is raving (mostly paid) reviews without direct comparisons to more higher end monitors.
      Maybe I just have to buy a used pair of KH120s and order the IN-5 or 8s from Thomann and then see for myself.
      Then either send the Kalis back or sell the Neumanns again.

    • @ju1ceaudio
      @ju1ceaudio  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The In-8s are the best use of cheap drivers basically. There are 2 ways that are faster and more accurate but the 3-way coaxial specifically is probably the best design for speakers. Keep in mind ive used these cheap ones to super expensive atcs and ive found the kalis are really nice.

I really liked the ribbon tweeter but I dont know if the $2200 difference is justified since I never heard either monitor in person.

Also you seem to like the coaxial design…..do you prefer that design over the regular separate 3 way design?? I am really considering Adam A8H (at the top of budget) for its 3 way design and 8 inch woofer to hopefully eliminate needing a sub. I currently have KRK V6 S4 6.5 inch monitors with a K10s sub.
