    I will say, as a larger guy with a broad chest, I find the bag sits super comfortably just alongside my hip, and the strap contours pretty well for me after breaking it in a bit. Will agree that the clamshell access can be a bit awkward at times for getting things in and out especially while fully packed. I love mine, I wish it worked as well for you as it does for me.

    • @RonKwok
      @RonKwok  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s awesome that it’s worked out for you, and especially the fact that it fits and sits well on you as you move about. Don’t worry about me I’ll find my bag 😉

    I feel like this bag would be stellar as a tech bag or such to hold other things and be stowed within another bag for traveling. In my opinion on the body it just doesn't seem quite optimized for that type of carry. Love the review, the camera work is always fire, can't wait to see what's next!

    • @RonKwok
      @RonKwok  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Appreciate you Michael! Yea the KOMPAK falls into an interesting area of use. If I were to get a bag for stowing in a bigger bag, might choose a different option, but it's cool that this bag is appropriate for use both as a sling and a tech kit within a larger carryall. Thanks for watching bro!

    Great review! I think it's a bit weird this is marketed as a sling, I can't think of the term but this is definitely an existing bag style. I think they went with 'sling' because it's the cool thing, where as the format it actually is was most popular probably in the 00s and early 10s.

    • @RonKwok
      @RonKwok  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea the term sling carries a certain clout to it haha. I’d call this a compact crossbody messenger bag - not as sexy and you nailed the era this was popular in haha.

    As a petite short female (155cm) the straps were too long for me, adjusted it to the max shortest length it can go (due to the pads sewn at the part of the strap so unable to adjust it even shorter) but the bag still sits below my hips & makes it looks weirdly awkward and uncomfortable for me. I look just like a kid wearing her dad’s bag. I guess this bag was only made for really tall people. 😅

    • @RonKwok
      @RonKwok  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I feel you on this! I’m 175cm and it was too long for my taste too. A revised strap would go a long way with this one!

      I am 5’2” female and I bought this bag and replaced the strap with a leather strap. Very stylish. I put my iPad mini in the clamshell compartment. My active use items (wallet and iPhone) in the front and back. When I get to my destination, open my clamshell. I love this bag since it’s light and small. I don’t wear slings comfortably since I live in Alaska and wear coats 9 months out of the year. Slings require constant adjustments.

    I have this bag as well. 3 main gripes I had were the clasps were kind of a pain to put on and off. 2nd, the exterior gets dusty fast. 3rd, it's actually heavy for a sling bag. But the pros, I really really love the look of it.

    • @RonKwok
      @RonKwok  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had a lint roller on me the entire time I was filming bc it kept catching dust lol. I had the same impression as you with the aesthetics - it looks DOPE but once I incorporated it into my loadout I had mixed feelings

    Awesome review I have a sling style bag I use for hunting and I love the idea that I can swing it around for easy access but for long hikes out to where spot it's just not comfortable it tends to fall to my side I think I will be sticking to two straps

    • @RonKwok
      @RonKwok  ปีที่แล้ว

      The clamshell is definitely an interesting choice! I get the benefits of it being able to lay flat during packing and while working, but it’s offset by risk of gear falling out while wearing the sling

    best review of this bag I have seen (or can imagine seeing). given your caveats in the 2nd half, many of which I share, what "minimal, streamline" cross-body bag would you recommend? (NB: I'm a big fan of the magnetic closure... might even have a slight velcro phobia). thanks for your work!

    • @RonKwok
      @RonKwok  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks and glad you found this useful!! I can wholeheartedly recommend any sling from the Aer product line, I have a soft spot for the Go Sling 2, but it's really small and would depend entirely on your needs. If you wanna stick to Black Ember, their TKS Sling is awesome. Great size, streamlined, and you can stow the straps to make it a proper tech pouch in a larger kit. Happy hunting!

    I supported on kickstarter and was excited to get. When I got I was disappointed. I found it to too hard and difficult to maneuver. I think its got too much going on. Zipper pulls are overboard. Clamshell was not practical. Straps way too long. I could go on and on but in a nutshell I can’t recall disliking a bag so quickly after receiving. Best bag for my iPad mini is Aer daysling. So comfortable and perfect.

    Hey Ron thanks for this video! I was wondering if you think the TKS is comfortable?? I've heard people love it but the strap digs into them at some point. Do you experience this or maybe wear heavy cloths and wouldn't feel it? I'm asking because Im looking to either buy this KOMPAK (which seems to have a "better" strap or more comfortable one) or the TKS which doesn't seem padded. I usually wear T-shirts because it's always hot out so having a comfortable strap would be nice. Thank you!

    • @RonKwok
      @RonKwok  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the comment! Personally I feel the TKS is plenty comfortable for what I put in there - I don’t overstuff it so it never gets too heavy, and I’m mostly rocking tees and hoodies so not too heavy clothing either. If worse comes to worst, you can get a strap pad to accessorize the TKS, as I’d much rather prioritize the bag silhouette and what it does for me rather than by an entire sling for just the strap, but that’s just me. Hope this helps!

    I would use that trash for a get home bag. Mainly because you can leave it on your hip as you navigate and walk. Mind you, the word trash is a good thing in this situation. However, it does give me vibes of a female's purse and I'm not sure if I would be able to carry that on the daily.

    Yeah I don't really like slings except for the larger sling packs like the errant sling. The small ones, just put that stuff in your pockets. Front carry is particularly offputting to me. The classic messenger silhouette is fine, as its a dressed down suitcase, and has a way to be cinched so it works on bikes. This is a little to small, looks like a purse.
