I call him the McGuyver of kayak fishing, ha. But he's very smart and very skilled and I listen to everything he says about smallie fishing. Rock on Matt!
CaptSteelCity Haha thanks! I always watched that show when I was a kid, definitely had to MacGyver some of my power tools to make some of the plastic parts lol!
You should really do a vid on how you made the power connectors for the camera and light. Im sure lots of ppl would be interested in a step by step vid
Jesus Christ dude you have to patten some of this stuff!! this is the most legit setup ive seen in a long time!! your really selling me on the tarpon 120!
Truly impressive set up, and it's old news now! Watching your videos takes me back to when I didn't have a dime to my name but I rigged up an inflatable raft, put a carpet-wrapped plywood floor inside, and straddled a cooler! Within a couple of years I bought my first boat, but you can bet that I sure got a lot of looks! Sure was fun for catching fish though! My dad and I share a canoe with stabilizers for hitting a river/stream or landlocked pond now.
As a DIY"er myself and can never stop redesigning stuff... you've made some very nice additions and creative professional looking mounting systems... NICE!!
Awesome setup! Your old one was amazing but I like the carbon fiber additions! And the fact that you machined those brackets and did all the electric on your own blows my mind!! I'm super jealous of your setup! Keep up the good work!!
Greg Hand Thanks! I was pretty happy with the old setup, you can probably tell by how similar the new one is! A few minor changes but for the most part it's all cosmetic. It sure does look nice though!
Here I am in 2024 actually pondering the idea of buying such a kayak. I played with lego in the 1960s, so that was my favourite bit ! That was very interesting, thanks from Northumberland, UK.
Very well done. I just picked up a used Tarpon 100 for the small creek adventures that my Hobie Outback wont work for. Really like the anchor trolly setup.
I know this an old video but I love the fact that you did this on the river side, with nature as the background noise. Instead of most lazy people doing this in their backyard.
Hands down the slickest Tarpon I have ever seen. I have a Pre-08 T140 (rubber front hatch, no gear tracks...) that I'm getting rigged now, and you have really given some inspiration! Also, as a test electrician, and electronics tech for 16 years I have to say bravo on your on-board power system for the cameras and FF-very clean install, my man.
Thanks Marc! A lot of planning went into this setup, probably more time spent brainstorming than actually building. I think the hardest part was coming up with ways to machine some of the plastic parts with the limited power tools I have. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out though, I haven't changed a thing since shooting this video and I plan on keeping everything the same for this season.
I discovered your channel just a few weeks back and almost every video here leaves me gobsmacked at the fishing talent and now the engineering. The boat modifications in this video are well above what the average person would even think of doing or have the time to do. Well done!
My goodness, all of that is super impressive and detailed. Seems like you put a lot of work into it and your videos are reaping the benefits. Nice job!
I understand this video was made quite a while back now but I must say that as an engineering student I was very impressed with how you made your gear you've done very well!!
That looks like a tactical kayak right there! That is awesome!!! Love the color and that was creative replacing the stock screws with black screws. That was a really creative setup! Nice job!
You’re a genius! Awesome rigs on your kayak! Thanks for all your nice videos. They are nice to watch those days one can’t get out and fish. Best regards from Sweden // Thomas
MG-70 Thanks! This is one of my favorite spots to pull up the kayak for a lunch break and listen to the water and the birds for awhile. Its a great spot to hop out and wade around that island too, when the water is a little higher there's some nice bass there.
Thanks for the video.I am picking up my new Tarpon 120 tomorrow and I am really keen to set it up for fishing as I live near the beach in South Australia and fishing Kayaking has boomed down here.No more casting from the shoreline anymore.Once I get familiar with the Kayak I will be installing a fish finder with GPS so it was great to see how you had set yours up.Thanks again for taking the time to create this video.Cheers from Rick
Thanks Rick, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Somehow your comment ended up in my spam folder so I just came across it. Hopefully by now you've had a chance to try out your new kayak! It's always a good idea to take it out once or twice before installing anything just to make sure your intended mounting locations will work out. If the water is warm enough there I'd take it out empty to a calm spot in about chest deep water and test its limits by tipping over and practicing re-entry a few times too. Have fun and be safe out there!
Very creative lay out and your electronic innovations are pretty dope and very professional looking custom finish to everything you did. Really sweet looking set up.
Nice high tech boat you have there, you did a great job customizing it! I got a Predator over the winter and just waiting for ice to go out so I can use it. I'm looking forward to using it and figuring out how to set up...and making some fishing videos too, of course! Tight lines.
My faith in fishing community of TH-cam will be significantly boosted when dude hits 500k Just sayin Thx for the tour. Was very enlightening after dozens of brilliant vids Very QooL braH
Thanks Jeff! I'd highly recommend getting a kayak, it's a blast paddling around and exploring lakes and rivers! I'm looking forward to getting mine back out as soon as we get some warm spring weather.
I really enjoyed yhis video. Everything on your kayak seems very well thought out. I like how it has all the little extras that make for a great fishing boat without being overly crowded and busy. Very well done sir.
Thanks Drew! Even though this video is a few years old not much has changed on my kayak other than adding a Power Pole Micro Anchor to the back end. It’s an awesome setup for the small rivers and lakes I fish!
That is so nice it makes me want to fish that way. However I have never gone fishing in my 61 years of life. I want to but I do not know what to do or even how to tie the line. So I watch. Your videos are wonderful. Thank you.
FlyForPike Thanks! I can't imagine a price I'd put on the camera rigs with all the time invested in them. I've thought about taking the idea somewhere, I think I'd need to waterproof the plug going into the Gopro to make it appeal to a bigger market.
You did such an awesome job talking about your Tarpon and running it ragged over the years, SOMEHOW I ENDED UP WITH A 2020 TARPON. Wildy owes you a coffee or something, man.
awesome kayak setup. I like the way you power your electronics. very clean and neat installation. you've given me some great ideas for mine. thank you and keep up the awesome videos.

Nice work. It's high quality and ingenious set up. I take many of your idea for my own kayak. Thanks!
huge props on your camera set up! I can tell a ton of time went into getting that the way you want it. Would love to see some night time shots from this year and if you are doing any more mods film the build process. Fish on!
Thanks man! The only problem with the light is it draws a lot of bugs so I use it mostly for a navigation light while I'm moving. I might have to try a night bit for some walleye this spring though before the bugs get too thick. I'll have to experiment with some colored lenses over the light this summer too, maybe I can avoid drawing them in. I haven't made any other changes to the kayak yet. I'm thinking about getting a micro power pole for cat fishing but I'm not sure if I'd put it on this kayak or the orange one.
I've been slowly binge watching all your videos over the past week or so. That kayak is amazing. If I was a kayak manufacturer I'd want you as an advisor tomorrow. I know it would be a real pain, but can you imagine an NDYak accessories company? It already sounds Chinese so you've won half the battle. Heck, I'd hire you myself to come over and organize my garage! Thanks for the videos!
Absolutely excellent job of modding your kayak and making this video! It’s interesting, informative and well shot. I’m just starting out fishing from Kayaks. I’m used to over 25 years of float tube and pontoon boat fishing. Your video will be instrumental in helping me get set up. It’s the best I’ve seen yet and I’ve watched dozens. Thanks very much. Like and subscribe for sure!
Very nice, well thought out set-up. I’m thinking you must be an engineer or maybe an electrician by trade and now I can see why the video and audio quality of your videos is really a cut above. Really enjoying all your videos, excellent stuff.
Thanks! It’s been over six years now since I filmed this and I really haven’t changed much on the kayak other than adding a power pole anchor on the back.
Very nice video and I compliment your excellent talent at machining your parts. I've watched most if not all of your videos, enjoy them, and learn a lot from them. I actually own the exact same Tarpon 120 including the color you have here and do agree it is a wonderful craft. I am a minimalist though by nature so mine is set up as a lean paddling and fishing machine. Thanks for sharing this video and for the time and effort in producing it.
😂 so this is my spork 120..... I took a spork and modified it to fish out of. 😂. The most perfectly put together kayak fishing rig I've ever seen, bravo
I got my first fishing kayak few weeks ago. Wish i had bought one years ago. Been out about 5 times so far and love it. Been told im crazy because one of the lakes i go to has gators in it lol. Which is odd for north east Alabama. But they somehow have managed to establish them selves in this big lake we have called hillabee. Anyway Could you do an update vid on your set up now. Really interested in your new anchor system with the rod. Love the videos! One of my new fav YT channels
Excellent Video!! You are a mod genius sir. You set up is well thought out, user friendly, and functional. I love the extra mile you put in with the black screws. That did make a different on the overall appearance. Very professional.
wow this is amazing your so crafty and smart as hell. prob the best do it at home creations i have ever seen on a yak and they look amazing and like there from a factory awesome man
Wesley Dean Thanks man! I bet I spent more time just thinking and planning out the next step than actually building on the camera rigs. They turned out great though and so far they've been working without any problems.
that camera rig is something you should patent produce and sell. nice job.
I know I'm 6 years late but, this setup is just insane especially the camera setup that's genius its also very impressive how handy you are truely
I'm 95 percent sure this guy doesn't even have to buy a kayak. he can just make it like everything else
He forgot to mention he 3d printed the yak and made the fish finder out of a used toaster.
Mark Streight impressive
@@markstreight1809
He 3d prints the smallies too
I call him the McGuyver of kayak fishing, ha. But he's very smart and very skilled and I listen to everything he says about smallie fishing. Rock on Matt!
He is so happy with his gear that 5 years later still have the same thing, what an example of simplicity and functionality.
Damn, 9 years later, I find your channel. Love the setup, and now get the guided tour. Very impressive.
Sir, you are the true Macgyver of kayak fishing. Sweet setup man!
CaptSteelCity Haha thanks! I always watched that show when I was a kid, definitely had to MacGyver some of my power tools to make some of the plastic parts lol!
I'm sure you'd have plenty of fans ready to 3D print parts for you. I could perhaps help design the files in 3D.
This is the most professional kayak setup (and youtube video) I've ever seen. Hat's off to you, sir.
and it doesn't have more than you need.
Man, you do some nice work! You don't cut any corners when it comes to your fishing set-up! Thanks for taking the time to show us it!
Setting up your watercraft to save valuable space and improve functionality is as fun (and expensive) as fishing itself!! WELL DONE
You should really do a vid on how you made the power connectors for the camera and light. Im sure lots of ppl would be interested in a step by step vid

I have a tarpon 120 and I love it. Very comfortable and stable. The boat is very fast and is setup up very well for fishing.
Wow. Rarely do I comment, but I have to say it, your electrical work blew me away.
God damn, dude...you're Batman!!!
Sweet mounts and electrical setups. I wish I had the electrical chops you do.
Excellent vid.
Never thought id be so impressed with such a simple piece of equipment
what an awesome set up! I wish I had your ingenuity and skill
I'm blown away. No wonder your videos turn out so great. The fish were impressive, but the rig job on this kayak is next-level.
CHRIS VON Thanks Chris! I'm just glad everything worked when I put all the pieces together!
Awesome setup! Your old one was amazing but I like the carbon fiber additions! And the fact that you machined those brackets and did all the electric on your own blows my mind!! I'm super jealous of your setup! Keep up the good work!!

The nerdiest video I have seen in some time and absolutely love it. You gave me some good ideas what I can do with my kayak. Keep up the great work
Great video! It's easy to see that you've put quality time and effort into your setup. Nice job!
Greg Blanchard Thanks Greg! I couldn't be happier with how it turned out!
You are a true craftsmen that's for sure.
Here I am in 2024 actually pondering the idea of buying such a kayak. I played with lego in the 1960s, so that was my favourite bit ! That was very interesting, thanks from Northumberland, UK.
All of your videos are A-1. Getting my first yak in a couple of weeks and extracted some nice ideas. Thank you!
Best modifications I have seen yet. Very nice job
Very well done. I just picked up a used Tarpon 100 for the small creek adventures that my Hobie Outback wont work for. Really like the anchor trolly setup.

That looks like a tactical kayak right there! That is awesome!!! Love the color and that was creative replacing the stock screws with black screws. That was a really creative setup! Nice job!
sgtryan98 Thanks man! I think the black screws make it look a lot nicer! I wish they'd use them at the WS factory.
NDYakAngler did the replacement screws go in nice and tight? Factory screws look to be self taping.
Youre ingenuity is incredible.
You’re a genius! Awesome rigs on your kayak! Thanks for all your nice videos. They are nice to watch those days one can’t get out and fish.

I second the idea of a video dedicated to showing us how you made your electronics set up. Great video!
Always love seeing your setup. Love all the custom stuff. Looks great. Thank you for all your videos!

Some serious engineering !!! Very impressed !!
What a great video! I just got a Tarpon 120 a few weeks ago. Your video has really got me think about how to rig it. Thanks!

Phenomenal job!!! I cant wait to meet you on the water up here.
Tight Lines!
Amazing kayak. The attention to detail is exquisite, well done to you! ATB.
The least we can say is that your very well equip!
Nice kayak layout! Well though out and not too cluttered. You should market that camera/light mount - professional rigging job throughout.
FlyForPike Thanks! I can't imagine a price I'd put on the camera rigs with all the time invested in them. I've thought about taking the idea somewhere, I think I'd need to waterproof the plug going into the Gopro to make it appeal to a bigger market.
Maybe glueing a O-ring where it plugs in at might work
@@ndyakangler an o-ring land recess at the jack plug hole. A revised case for the camera may be necessary.
