Rhank you Roland. This is what ive waiting for. Your two panelist are ABSOLUTELY GREAT. They are professional with great understanding of what is needed in the black community
Blacks wasn't raise to combine resources we always try to out do each other we have to reprogram ourselves and stop hating on each other and also educate our people.
There are small black owned businesses that I’ve tried to help but for some reason they do nothing with it! So I’ve decided to focus on my own now that I’ve got it started. I also have more plans for myself, I can now give you exposure and advice! The rest is on you!
Their time is UP! Black people are more intelligent, we are caring enough for our families to leave them wealth instead of bills. We're educating our children on economical growth. We're slowly but surely moving foward. Nice video. Let's continue to move foward together. Thanks for the info.
Black Wall Street, Tulsa Oaklahoma, black owned and built during segregation. They did so much with far less than is available to black people today. Their mindset made the difference. The most important change we need is internal. Most have lost the drive and determination that post slavery black people had.
To build capacity we must trade more with the African diaspora ABROAD. We are the best ambassadors. The African continent has the numbers, a young population. If Latin America wants to do business with us then they can also come aboard, but priority should be sub-Sahara Africa as it has the bodies, talent and natural resources. In this journey we must embrace learning second and third languages also, crucial. 🙌🏾
This is a good Talk. We have to understand the why.. we definitely know and understand what people are not doing, but why? And once we find that, how will we strategically change the mindset of a PTSD culture.
Most successful people started from nothing. They didn’t wait for the opportunity to knock but created the opportunity on their own by working hard. Thankgoodness i found Mr carlos kingston a pro forex trader, now I have been trading with him for about 7 mounths now and I earn up to $15,000 weekly. i guess this is the epic start to a new chapter in my life. 'There are those of our color that are not of our kind. And there are those of our kind that are not of our color.' The brother on the right said this. It was one of the most pro black, anti bias statements I've ever heard.
The main thing that keeps us burried in the burried in a quagmire of poverty is that black people have no land. And I have never heard any movement not even since the civil rights talking about that. We will always struggle if we have no land. The USA economy is primarily based on real estate. If we have no land as a people we have no foundation.
Perhaps the forum should have been called “creating economic wealth within the black communities of America”. That seems to be what you are discussing from the jump. Mr. Graves is partially right in that the other issues of education and programming is a bit more complex although I deem it necessary for to do.
I truly want to support Black owned business in my community, but I am so fed up with their incompetence and unwillingness to to change the way the operate.
I am surprised some focus is not on saving money, pooling money and then using businesses to grow the pot. The shortest route to where we are trying to go is to adopt an AARP model for growing economically. Some focus should be given to inheritances. By now every child should not start their adult life with zero funds. Our people do not bank well enough to handle emergencies.

REAL black elitists and I'm not saying that in a negative way........there are some so-called black spokespeople who talk the talk but these are those who talk the walk.
The Graves brothers' daddy built that business and didn't merge with anyone so why should the next black business. If your black and built ANY business I applaud you. Keep doing what you do for your family.

How do you watch multi billion dollar companies and multi millionaires pay millions every election cycle to control policy and government but black folks are still supposed to believe you can do it by yourself. He did make some good points but it still has to be a 2 pronged approach. You shouldn't let the government off the hook when they have done so much to harm our community.
Self inflicted signs of declining powerful images. The aptitude for people of color-seems to assimilate to whiteness readily . Colored people should value themselves first.
Most black business owners are solopreneurs are running on a very small or efficient scale. Yes, ownership is important, but I don't think it is so much about competition. Most black business owners have small margins which makes it difficult to hire let alone the process to merge businesses. Can 3 businesses with limited cashflow successfully merge?

I think we should create LLCs or holding companies with groups of black investors who would invest in major American franchises then take the money and profits from that and reinvest in other black owned businesses in the black community
Amen Earl Graves Jr. We spend $18 mil. daily eating out. Only a small portion with Black owned restaurants. Black women spend $10 bil yrly on hair and skin care products most on white own products. We can all start tomorrow putting a dollar in another black hand as often as we can.
that will not make the black business areas thrive........the areas will still be weak...............so you want to build business areas that can compete with white ones?
What is new , in terms of Black history is that it is new for African Americans in the past 150 years , to have a culture of self centeredness , materialism politcal complacency and total ambivilence towards Collective Economics, this new Phenomenon is only as old as balling culture which now is about 28 years old! People fail to look at the fact that it is Culture , that motivates orthodox jews, Dominicans, Koreans, Yemeni Arabs, Mexicans in the south and Vietnamese and Lebanese in the south to think of money and economics as a Collective rather then Individual good! They use the same concept we had for 130 years after slavery and 40 thousand years before slavery that the Collective Wealth insures all individual Prosperity!
You're right Ron Mosely in that the push towards economic liberation is not new and goes back many generations. The NOI for one has been promoting the agenda since the 1930s and Marcus Garvey before that. It is basic mathematics that the "collective economic prosperity" that you refer to can not be achieved by a minority population whose members are predominantly pursuing individual prosperity.

Even in my state, one of the most eagerly sought after job in the public sector is with the department of corrections(where minimally educated white men and women) are tasked with the control of black and brown people
That doesn't always work out great I don't mind spending with ourselves I welcome that more than anything else, I drive around and look for black business to spend in but some time those people running them business has no true real interest in our development or progress, They're just about the money no love, no respect, no appreciation, they would careless about black unity, they'll you it will never happen, and you can't blame them for feeling that way because of the condition and action of our people. I'm saddened by what I seen myself but I just keep hoping and teaching hoping that one day it will happened, a pipe dream.
It’s way past time for Africans Americans to stop investing in Americaca. We keep doing the same things expecting a different outcome. Let’s us focus on growing and developing Africa. Systematic systemic racism will never allow us/black to break the glass ceiling of white supremacy. What is it going to take for us to wake up to that realization, another 400 + years?
The most difficult task that I am experiencing at this point is to acquire the sponsorship to a help with purchasing the commercial equipment and materials for landscaping my 16.9 acres of raw land located in California, I know that some may say why did you take on such a large task if you could not afford it. It is real simple opportunity knocked and I answered. My goal is to design 16,9 acres into a Desert Venue. S far I am the only dark skinned sister in California who will own a Venue.
Great program well done!!! Although this is only no doubt a fraction of what was discussed this could've been summed up with a 10 minute survey and the solutions derived would outpace anything discussed in this short presentation.
I’ve watch this show twice.. I believe we must make sacrifices.. I gave $3000 to Simmons College who really has no endowment I’m going to find another HBCU one that gets very little money it’s a shame that Alumni don’t give back
Access to capital and scale go together. You can't scale a business without the capital. Capital is not as accessible in black communities or for black entrepreneurs as they are for others. While that is not an excuse for the hustle, it is legitimate proven reason.
Ayveel Robinson we need to deposit our money into Black-owned banks in order to supply that capital. For those of us who live in states or areas where there are no Black-owned banks, then OneUnited Bank which is Black-owned is online and available to those in all states.
You are right. Crime will stifle growth. That is what suffocates black businesses now. They exist for 2-3 years, but the crime makes the area unattractive to consumer.
Black owned banks is not the solution. Trying to allocate all black cash to black banks might help, but it isn't the long term solution. Our businesses need mainstream capital (capital like the white folks get it) to scale. Another issue is that many blacks create businesses less scale-able than whites. Which is why I agree with Butch on that part about focusing on technology.
Ayveel Robinson there is no one solution whether it be Black owned banks or access to capital but a multitude of factors clicking in cohesion. And I didn't intend to insinuate that we should put all Black capital into Black owned banks, but we should put in more than what we have been doing since if the idea of liberation is to grow Black owned and operated Black institutions then that point simply can't be argued. And likewise having access to capital isn't a cure-all if the capital isn't used effectively, it will then only end up putting you into more debt and ruining your credit rating. And if you're waiting on Blacks to get the same access to mainstream capital as Whites then you're going to be waiting on that your entire lifetime.
Teach all of us black folks dont just pick people you can teach us all to do great things we might not do the same things you do specifically but at the very least we will be trained how to do it when the time comes.
it will never happen....we're to divided as a people we actually can't stand each other due to the fact that you will steal my money, screw my woman and will be jealous of my success.. that's why we will never see unity among us.. these guys here will only try to capitalize on it👎🏿
I love this initiative 👏 🙌 ❤, this what black people needs to be doing, investing among ourselves, black rich folks needs to be putting their monies together, to build our own institutions banks 🏦, look at black churches how much monies they make every Sunday thsts a big capital for black banks 🏦, is time black folks promoting black owns ,also to start building factories for jobs
frankly speaking: I disagree with (butch graves) we should not make a decision between African studies or technological studies. the answer we can do both. those trees that forget it's roots will die.. i e (black people ) . I love black enterprise magazine. and I bought the paper issues. but since electronic,..not so much.
We have to stop looking for leaders to direct us because all of them gets bumped off then we act like we dont know what to do african americans INDIVIDUALY have to be leaders and love and work together AND STOP SAYING WHAT OTHERS WONT LET YOU DO FIND A WAY! Get education early on no thuggin and drug sellin. Stop being so loud in what you do real people move in silence! HBCU'S is great but how do you create a path for more of our at risk black youth to go to those HBCU'S
marques bussey I don't believe that youtube is the place to outline the details and strategy. That is better done in closed door sessions inaccessible to the media. There are forces that don't want to see these things happen and revealing the game plan to the enemy makes it to easy for those plans to be subverted. Revealing general info publicly won't be too harmful but revealing too much can't be good.
Yes we Have. 1. Wealth. 2. Culture 3.Busineses 4.Jesus Christ as Lord. The True issue which we Refuse to Discuss is. Trust we do not Trust One Another as a Community of People. That's the True Issue. Please Give the Solution to this Problem.😔
Speaking for myself , my Mother worked for Carl B. Stokes. I have a 3 page job resume. My credentials and im a Navy Veteran. Im woke now. I didnt vote for Donald Trump either.
Good conversation but for the somewhat uninformed. How so? First, Mr. Graves. The magazine business isnt unprofitable. He ran an unprofitable magazine - big difference. In business as in life you have to adjust to market changes. Savoy magazine which Mr. Martin ran was a failure. Under a new innovative owner it's very profitable right now. Over 120 full page ads each issue. More than Essense and Ebony combined. The other guy talks about Morehouse med school and Meharry, well Morehouse med has more Black woman enrolled than Black men. Fewer Blacks are applying to med school but so are fewer native born Americans. The other major issue is how people start business. Black women account for almost 65% of all Black Businesses. People tend to start business out of what they know. Black women usually are in low profitable jobs and start a business in a low profitable industry. For women to improve their odds of success and financial relevance they should look at industries men are in, mainly white men. White men make the money in America. Wherever they are, that is where you want to be. Lastly, the average white woman owned business makes $205k a year. Average Asain woman owned business makes $197k. Average Black woman owned business makes $23k. Many Black women do not have a spouse or significant other to help them. So the family comes back I to play. She's flying solo in most cases but with some kids to support. Tough to take flight and stay in flight.
Ben-O The Last 3rd Eye. Just what I was thinking, how about they open up some loans for our community to start businesses and so we can create jobs. I bet a lot of those fraud accounts were open in our community. Whos at the table asking for those loans. I would be willing to bet Wells Fargo is the title sponser at the annual party sorry I meant annual convention or golf tournament.
Easy to say merge with someone, blacks that start their own business don't want others looking at their books. They build a business for their family and that's a good thing. Did Black Enterprise merge with Ebony and or Jet.
It's a valid point. Only suggestion I have is they could get shares of the company and split it 4 ways or so between the founders. If they're all at the top of their game, have good teamwork, and collaborate, they could land the $5 million contracts
These tactics seem a bit abstract and dated. Why not ask younger men/women of this generation? Also, no mention of the system of white supremacy that has systematically oppressed us? I don’t know man....
Most black people of this generation may have the know how, but they don't know the importance of protecting their success from whites that seek to destroy them. It's because this generation of blacks have been indoctrinated to believe that you are for the black cause but many of them have never felt the real sting of the worst racism. This is because racism has a new but even more dangerous structure, therefore; many people of this generation don't or would not allow themselves to truly believe that there is a racist engine that seeks to destroy them completely. Instead, this generation believes that they are in the fight because they should be, not because they must. To act on racism economically to empower black business etc, is more of a novelty to many blacks of this generation. They sound like they are aware and enlightened yet they won't do the work or study the real condition of the problem. So they enjoy walking in the light of the image of a person working toward the betterment of blacks and are not very successful. This is more than likely a truism because they don't believe that it's an emergency and they must stick to it and win. This generation does not know the tricks of their oppressors and too prideful and pompous to enquire of the older people. Once again unity has a role for everyone envolved in it. However, pride dampens the purpose and the cause. We can't trust the future of blacks in the hands of the young. Those ones that are not studying the importance of structure from the ground up.
Only 25%, of black people own homes, in this country, how can you build wealth, renting, from others people, 76% of whites own land an property, an we all know property increases in value, tha government gave white people a lot of land a .longtime ago , an they took from us when ever they could, we as a race of people will never build wealth, renting, from anybody, If the rich black people, never start a movement to help black own property you will still be talking about this in 3021. Ask yourself if black people can't survive as a hole in America, your wealth don mean anything, we have not seen white privilege at it worst ,if thousands of white men who still don't like us what good is your wealth, those people are papered to do just, that why did we stop trying to get black wall street back. Rich black is the answer to our problems, you caint build wealth renting period .
We’ve accomplished the I need to become a great financially independent “individual”. Now we HAVE to come together financially as a community and combine businesses. So we can scale, become large enough to higher and employ our own people!!!!! Black Joint Ventures. Get loans from black owned banks 🏦 AND PAY THEM BACK.

For those of us who live in states or areas where there are no Black-owned banks, then OneUnited Bank which is Black-owned is online and available to those in all states.
even if you get the capital what will you do about the crime in the black communities ?..........it will stifle the growth of an commercial strip
Teach all of us black folks dont just pick people you can teach us all to do great things we might not do the same things you do specifically but at the very least we will be trained how to do it when the time comes.
it will never happen....we're to divided as a people we actually can't stand each other due to the fact that you will steal my money, screw my woman and will be jealous of my success.. that's why we will never see unity among us.. these guys here will only try to capitalize on it👎🏿
Yes technology
What black America, does not exist. Died with Martin, Malcolm and others. Stop the charade!
Mad black Woman you are spot on
My guys looking nice
Every other community but us, that’s a huge problem that can be fixed 😟
Tony Brown heard this year's ago . We make a lot of money as much as the top 15 country top country's in the world
Good stuff!
Technology is what the Asians and the Indians focus on.
Love the ending topic 👍🏾
2020 no change still having conferences.
The End Begins oh there is change, but it just not for the better. It’s getting worst
The ballot the buck and the book!!!!
Butch speaks like a true elitist from Westchester. "Pookie and Ray Ray"? Geez.
......and looks the part.
Are you focused on the message or the delivery?
These men have government contracts but you need to step your game up, stop preaching and get into the details.
marques bussey I don't believe that youtube is the place to outline the details and strategy. That is better done in closed door sessions inaccessible to the media. There are forces that don't want to see these things happen and revealing the game plan to the enemy makes it to easy for those plans to be subverted. Revealing general info publicly won't be too harmful but revealing too much can't be good.
good info.
Sometimes you get burned doing business with some BOB. I do love to support them though, but I am cautious as well.
Carter G. Woodson spoke of this!
Yes we Have.
1. Wealth.
2. Culture
3.Busineses
4.Jesus Christ as Lord.
The True issue which we Refuse to Discuss is.
Trust we do not Trust One Another as a Community of People. That's the True Issue.
Please Give the Solution to this Problem.😔
where is the conversation on black culture and how it is detrimental to our community?
Speaking for myself , my Mother worked for Carl B. Stokes. I have a 3 page job resume. My credentials and im a Navy Veteran. Im woke now. I didnt vote for Donald Trump either.
We need to build a completely separate government from what is currently in place.
Floyd Maclin you mean the deep state and the Obama shadow govt
Unite our nations Africa India China and watch how we grow. Healthy.
get together and buy BUSES to take people on weekends to shop,,leave cars in lots,,
Good conversation but for the somewhat uninformed. How so? First, Mr.
Tough to take flight and stay in flight.
smh, as a black man this is so sad to read.. what exactly is the black man doing then?
.....Thanks to Wells Fargo????? SMH
Wells Fargo is not our friend
Never in history has one group been given so much at the detriment of all others and done nothing with it, as the black man.
Easy to say merge with someone, blacks that start their own business don't want others looking at their books. They build a business for their family and that's a good thing. Did Black Enterprise merge with Ebony and or Jet.
BE was in a lane by itself. What other similar black owned business magazine could they have merged with?
It's a valid point. Only suggestion I have is they could get shares of the company and split it 4 ways or so between the founders. If they're all at the top of their game, have good teamwork, and collaborate, they could land the $5 million contracts
These tactics seem a bit abstract and dated. Why not ask younger men/women of this generation? Also, no mention of the system of white supremacy that has systematically oppressed us? I don’t know man....
where can the systematic white supremacy be detected right now?
Who are the panelists?
Thomas W. Dortch (TWD, Inc.) and
Earl G. “Butch” Graves, Jr. (Black Enterprise Magazine)
We need a solid black own bank in South Florida
Where is the Black auto dealer? Where is the Black dry cleaners, where are the Black businesses in America? And I don't mean Barber shops
Is that Earl Graves Sr. son in the sitting next to Roland?
Yes, it is.
