I've been going to Alpine Valley for concerts for over twenty years. That was the loudest I have ever heard a crowd cheer. Not just at that venue, but at any venue. An absolutely transcendent performance. Phish is incredible.
I've definitely haven't had as much experience at shows compared to others - but based on the handful I've gone to and the numerous ive watched/listened to, that crowd was nuts. What's weirder is that this year it seemed less crowded those three days more than usual, yet it felt like it was filled to the brim with energy! That Simple changed so much for me.
In 2000 Met a couple brothers from Madison at the top of the hill. Me being a short dude was trying to see over heads. This big homie Brady snatched me up and held me (lion king style) over the crowd so I could see the antelopes. We met up again after deer creek at Polaris and partied there too. Good times at Alpine that spill out over the rest of tour. ❤
Great video! I'd like to give props to Chris who you actually captured in the VIP deck at :24. As the band came onto the stage for the second set, he confidently proclaimed: "There's going to be a 30 minute Simple" I don't know how he knew. I'll be thinking about that and this Simple for a while.
Treated myself to these 3 days after graduating high school this year. This night in particular I met up with my dad and brother, with this show being my bros very first show. He never dug them beforehand, but i remember before the show started I sat at the very top of that lawn and just looked out. I thought about a lot in that half hour. By the end, I hoped this show more than ever something would happen - and boy did they fucking deliver. This year is different man. I feel it. They are clearly inspired and are practicing. This jam was quite literly out of this world. Everyone was in a hose moment here, people were hugging and crying. Thank you for the upload.

Did u abbreviate this Simple? It was 39 minutes not 21. For future reference that’s a no no ..if you’re going to record a song …capture and present the whole song. People are talking about this being one of the greatest Simples ever and you’ve got this long highlight tape of it lol
Being there live was so outstanding, one of the loudest crowds I've ever been in when they returned to the Simple riff. What a jam!

Yep. Same. I was in the pit. I the crowd was screaming so loud. Def in my top 5 concert experiences of my life.
The last time it was this loud is when the dead played them 2 shows, and it was like the old days
