    What an incredible story of survival, tragedy, resilience, hope, courage and perseverance. Ernest had a wonderful perspective and a great sense of humour. His comments about inaction against prejudice and tyranny will stay with me forever.

    What an brave, interesting, and extremely kind man. I don't understand why videos from this series have such low viewer numbers.

    First I read the autobiography of the English soldier ("Ginger") who helped Ernest Lobet a lot. Then I saw this. Greatly moved me. He seems to have a inner joy which is amasing...

    What a remarkable life Ernest has lived. Full of pain and tragedy but he never give up. His story made me sob so many times. I spent most of yesterday and today listening, although needed to stop many times because it was so overwhelmingly sad. I cannot imagine going through that much pain without giving up at some point. What remarkable resilient human being he is and I am so sorry for what happened to him and his people. I hope he is still with us and I’m sure his children and family are so proud of him 🙏🏾

    it's hard to imagine you survive all that and at the end you have a whole life in front of you and very few people could really unde3rtsand what happened to you, but most people in your everyday, never will. It is really hard to lead a good life imo after you experienced so much horror as such a young age. Rest in peace Ernst

    A great orator Ernest Lobet and a down to earth person who has a pragmatic outlook on life before, during and after the holocaust. When asked about his faith in God and his religious interpretation of how he survived and so forth, I love his simple, analytical and very pragmatic response. RIP and thank you for sharing a very painful, tragic moments, and stories in his life and history too. Unfortunately wars have not stopped and genocide, too and the wars are mostly not fought by those people who started them for power and greed and many other reasons, but it is fought by the innocent people. The real causalities of war are all the civilian population and soldiers who must follow what their leaders tell them to do.
    Would be nice to find out what became of his children and grandchildren after Ernest Lobet's passing and hear their thoughts on everything.

    Perseverance overcome resistance, this man is a perfect example of survival , what a absolute pleasure to listen to this story ,, no self pity do what you have to do , and that he did by taking every opportunity that came his way , remarkable man indeed , a success story ,but alas not without tremendous hardships and risk , but never underestimate those that couldn't have the will to survive after losing they're love ones under the most barbaric treatment they're had experience , he understood how Blessed he was , been young , and not having to suffer the horrific lost of love ones accompanying on his deportation , so sorry that he lost his Faith , and hope that he reconcile with Gd , Toda . Shalom

    What an intelligent, remarkable and charming man. A really inspirational story, mixing luck with tenacity and an ability to exploit an essential niche as a means of survival in Auschwitz Birkenau. The emotion at the death of his friend who he had to leave behind was completely shattering and raw still and will stay with me for a long time. His story after the war was also remarkable - spending years going through college and then training for a law degree, all at night school. It was a privilege and honour to hear his story.

    He says the only other country in Europe that spoke German was Switzerland! Forgive me if I'm wrong what about Austria?

    • @de33iene
      @de33iene 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Austria was annexed by Germany in 1938 - 27.04.1945 and Hitler was austrian, so I guess, it wouldnt been much better to claim than german.

    • @redfire20003
      @redfire20003 ปีที่แล้ว

      And parts of Czechoslovakia had native German speakers...Sudetenland.

    • @foca7550
      @foca7550 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@redfire20003There was a large German speaking population all over Europe prior to WWII. This is because Germans colonised most of Central, Southern and Eastern Europe in the past centuries. Many Germans from these communities collaborated so it wouldn’t be much better for Mr. Lobet to claim to be from there.
