Any time I get the new animated stuff from McFarlane, I have to remind myself they’re all old molds, which is why the articulation is so weird. I’m honestly fine with that, as long as they keep rereleasing them. I didn’t get the originals back in the day, so getting another chance to get them is nice.
In my head I want 70 points of articulation, 10 sets of hands, 4 heads, and enough accessories that I won’t even notice when I loose one… but, realistically, I’m going to “play” with it for like 10 minutes after I open it. Then put it in a pose I’m proud of and put it on the shelf where it won’t be touched again for 6 months to a year when ever I feel motivated to dust… I think I honestly would prefer as accurate sculpting and proportions to the source material, even with limited articulation. Of course growing up with the late 80s/ early 90s, I’m a sucker for 5-7 points like we got with Batman and Turtles figures. There’s even times that I wish I had got into statues instead of action figures. All that aside, you really elevated this figure! The unnecessary hinge in the wings sucks but the accents you add really do help draw attention away from them! Awesome work as always!
Ken always can make figures more playful and fun. This not outstanding Batman becomes much more appealing after Ken's cel-shading, especial in Ken's photo shoots.
You nailed the cel-shading on the figure, even in a simple pose this figure looks awesome , as for the question, I prefer articulation over show accuracy, that's why I stopped buying ML
I don't know how you only have 30k subscribers, your content is so good! Not sure if its just me, but theres something just unique and addictive about this channel, in a good way. It's just great!
the original release of this figure actually had a less glossy finish and the wings were black on the outside. also came bundled with old bruce wayne and ace. it was really cool! i love batman beyond but its definitely difficult to do the figure justice in 3D
been watching your videos for a few months now. watching you experiment and improve your cel shading abilities has been really wonderful :] it's a shame that this figure wasn't as articulated as many of the others you get to work on, but i really think you did a fantastic job of elevating such a highly stylized figure 🎉 you have such a strong grasp of what makes this character work visually! i understand why you didn't, but if it were me, i think i would have carved down the cylinder shapes surrounding the wing hinges so that they were more flush with the wing's curves. but the lineart imitation you went with ended up working really well without potentially sacrificing the structural integrity of the wing joints
I had several of the batman beyond figures and his flying batmobile toy when i was a kid but this version looks way better.. shame he's not available anywhere online as far as I can tell
I prefer show accuracy however they did fail 1 aspect of batman beyond and that's the back of the wings, they really should've done black on the back of them.
This figure is actually an old mold from an old dc figure line back in the day from a different company. Mcfarlane only reissued it
That explains the odd articulation

they've been doing them for a while
To me, you are the master of cel-shading. Seeing you change a normal figure to a 2-D figure is jaw-dropping.
Ken has definitely nailed the cel-shading of Batman. The fixed Batman looks much more amazing and cartoony. Good job!

70 points is wild
Maybe 50 around would be simple but not too confusing

Absolutely loving the cel shading. Helps give Terry more consistency with Mcfarlane's rereleases of the DC Direct Batman the Animated Series figures.

I personally think Black 2.0 would make this figure next level.

Your paintjob enhanced the figure a lot, great video and amazing work as always!
I wish they had released your version!
Who knew painting red over red would make it pop THAT MUCH. Absolutely love this!
I'm not a fan of cel-shading figures but this actually improves it by a mile 😅😅

You did an amazing job Ken! Personally I prefer accurate cartoon proportions with satisfying articulation.
7:21 holy i got confused a bit here it actually looks 2d
You should try to use that "super black" paint as it would allow the least amount of light to reflect off the surface. Could increase the effect.
It's so much better now
I had several of the batman beyond figures and his flying batmobile toy when i was a kid but this version looks way better.. shame he's not available anywhere online as far as I can tell
It is just me bat logo look metallic!!!
Amazing Yamaguchi is releasing Batman Beyond and he get get in any king of poses
Keep up the hard work 👍
Imagine bro used vanta black paint so that the cel shading can really stand out ❤
New song at the end!
wish Mafex would make a version of Batman Beyond
I love the cel shading you did, the head was bothering me sooo much and you went and fixed it...Ps i think you should try Warhammer mcfarlane figures
7:20 I though this was the cartoon can’t lie
They had Batman Beyond toys at BK once
I took a CT toys 2099 and made him into a Batman Beyond figure 😁 so now he has all the articulation I needed from him 🤣
I prefer show accuracy however they did fail 1 aspect of batman beyond and that's the back of the wings, they really should've done black on the back of them.
Regarding the new Spider-Man tas figure, I wonder if you could change headsculpts with the 1st release version. Wonder how that would look?
LETS GOOOOOO
may i ask if you sell it?
What figure line is this from ?
McFarlane sadly😞
it is a frensel cell shading and it is not really real world viable unless you attach a light that moves opposite to the camera.
Ben 10 4arms please
I found the platinum edition. I see no difference. LMK in replies if you see any??
Craft paint lfg
Mcfarlane is so lazy and bad, them reusing 10 year old molds is just asinine
You made that boring figure, POP!
