Many thanks for this wonderful upload! The juxtaposition of Morley with Purcell is so apt. Thanks too for letting us listen without having the divine sounds interrupted by ads urging to you buy a BMW!
I'm a Purcell addict....a Certified Purcellholic.... there's no such thing as too much Henry Purcell. (Bach & Handel were 10 years old when Purcell died early like a rock star). This ensemble is representing Purcell faithfully and accurately. Nicely done.
Absolutely agree! By the way, I kindly invite you to appreciate my works - here on my TH-cam channel. I am a classical composer dedicated mostly to sacred music. Kind regards!
Such beautiful music, the talent of all the artists is amazing, the balance wonderful, and the obvious joy commitment to the performance is evident, love Vox Luminis!
Agreed, Claudia! By the way, I kindly invite you to appreciate my works - here on my TH-cam channel. I am a classical composer dedicated mostly to sacred music. Kind regards!
What an amazing program. The selections, the pairings, and the order of performance are simply superb. Ensembles like Vox Luminis are the "nexgen" of early music. As we say in the US, "They are raising everybody's game." ;-)
A revelation. I have never heard Purcell played and sung like this, out of its traditional context. It reveals just how great and supra national a composer he really is. And never for a moment losing his English idiom. Brilliant.
Indeed, celestial! By the way, I kindly invite you to appreciate my works - here on my TH-cam channel. I am a classical composer dedicated mostly to sacred music. Kind regards!

Very very fine. It all makes me think of the prose preface to Gerard Manley Hopkins' famous poem "Henry Purcell". It goes like this: "The poet wishes well to the divine genius of Purcell and praises him that, whereas other musicians have given utterance to the moods of man’s mind, he has, beyond that, uttered in notes the very make and species of man as created both in him and in all men generally." The poem itself can easily be found online. Truly we are blessed by such music (and indeed by such poetry).
Sopranos: Sara Jäggi, Zsuzsi Tóth, Kristen Witmer Altos: Daniel Elgersma, Barnabas Hegyi, Jan Kullmann Tenors: Olivier Berten, Robert Buckland, Philippe Froeliger Basses: Geoffroy Buffiere, Tomás Král, Lionel Meunier
"Mention spéciale" pour all three soprano singers, "acting" very well in concert, as it could be said. The recording has a very "nice tone", what always demands a particular effort. Well done !
Thank you. I have just discovered the Utrecht early music scene on You Tube. Unimaginable riches. But I am used to the march and the canzona both ending on bare fifths. Did you follow an inferior source? What an astonishing end to O dive custos!

Can't better the musical performance, expression, quality of voices, only problem is poor diction. Very difficult to know what words are being sung. Vowels are smudged. Was it Morley who said that singers should learn to vowel and sing clean!

Me encanta Purcell. Me gusta mucho " Sound the trompers"
Such beautiful music, what talented musicians, thank you so much, I love this group!
I've just 'searched' this by accident. The Gods of Celestial music brought me here. Beautiful indeed.

The perfectly synchronized polyphonic voices are really beautiful, and even celestial.

A música de Henry Purcell acompanha minha vida. Ouvi-la tão bem interpretada é um prazer.
Magnifique !

Daniel Elgersma | Countertenor wonderful singers for sure. Any clue who the harpsichordist is? I really like his continuo realizations
And also the "Tambour Lady" is quite impressing, indeed ! What a funeral !

Wonderful performance on all parts! Anyone know the harpsichordist by name? I am particularly fond of his continuo playing
It's me actually, Anthony Romaniuk :) Thanks for your kind words
Does anyone have the program? I'm particularly interested in the name of the song at about 1:07:00. Thanks

I want to buy the copyright of this music. How can I buy?

In fairness, none of them are native English speakers, so they do well given that.
These are very nice performances, but the English is poor and very difficult to hear the words they are singing.
Their English is very good.

Very nice performance, though let down by poor, woolly diction.
