    this is very good however there are some poor choices of left hand accompiament in the opening section with little movement

      Thank you! Yes I agree about the left hand accompaniment in the first section, the idea was to have a pedal tone on the tonic and see what I could fit around it rather than having root position chords everywhere. This is quite old now though and I've had plenty of time to improve!

    How long did this take you to write? Any advice and tips? x

      I used pretty much the entire time we got allocated to get my piece to the standard I was happy with. My best advice would be listen to some music you like, analyse some of the techniques they use and inject them into your own piece (i.e broken chords, block chords, conjunct or disjunct melody, passing the melody between hands.) A great thing my teacher taught me is something I like to call 'rob the rhythm', which as the name suggests is just taking the rhythm from the melody of a song/piece you like, and writing your own melody based on it. Remember, the process of writing your GCSE comp is going to be different than if you were just writing for fun, as you have a criteria to meet. Don't hesitate to ask your teacher if you're on the right lines to get the highest grade you can. Good luck!
