That was beautiful. I love the way that you don't refer to the children, now adults; as step children. I have always thought that the term "step" made the children feel less than. So happy to see that they are all regarded as our children. It's so wonderful to see the LOVE that you all have for one another.

I want to personally Thank YOU for sharing your family with the world...I'm a 53yr old woman that cried through this video wishing my step parent accepted me with such maturity & wisdom displayed within your family...and my bio parent not to join into a union with someone not accepting of your child...my life growing up has been so dysfunctional trying to do anything to please both parents to get some love & attention. When their children were born, I really was just a tolerated not blended or bonded...& to this day the oldest of 7 with a outside parent and all of them having the same parents, I'm the outsider...😔...may God continue to bless your wonderful family...I'm a new subscriber and enjoy the quality content ❤

I am motherless and fatherless too, and have experience tremendous trauma from childhood to adulthood, but I met JESUS and my life has never been the same, he's such a BEAUTIFUL GOD. You opening up actually is helping me see more and more the feelings my twins probably had when our two sons were born. They are 27 now and have really struggled in their lives but they have never told me their deep feelings about our family dynamics. My stepson never called me mom, I met his dad when he was 8, and he’s 30, he said he loved me 2 years ago, he has his wonderful mom and we have 2 granddaughters one is 2.5 and another is 2 months…I love him and his kids … I’m grandma 👏👍

Great subject being from a blended family myself one thing that helped us was not being called “step children.” My Paupau (grandfather) said “ain’t nobody stepping on nobody in this family” 🤣🤣.
So that set a standard of respect all around. And everybody gave older sister and I to my Pops (stepdad) anyways because he made it known at all times that we were his daughters. He definitely made it known to my biological father ( deceased when I was 13) when he wouldn’t act right. My Pops showed us what a real man, husband and father is to be. And he set the bar high. I thank God daily for loving me enough to give my Pops to mother, sister and I. 🙏🏼❤️

Love this topic. I am a "bonus mom" in our blended family. For us it was important for all parties to respect each other . Our children were "our " children. We have been married 37 years and have raised our children as siblings.
And I even call my husbands first wife my wife n law . It takes all parties to be mature.

Minors, you guys are great. I love how Donna states "these are my sons" in the beginning of the marriage. My blended family/marriage suffered because there was too many territorial issues.
This video is pure GOLD. There is so much great advice and it has the ability to help hundreds, if not thousands, of families. I wish my nephew and his first wife had handled their divorce and new marriages this well. My great nieces really suffered through everything. Kids deserve better from their parents. I would like good thank the whole family for sitting down and having a family discussion about an issue that is sometimes tight-lipped about. But I must say the blended family has a start with the two parents setting a loving environment for the kids to blossom and grow

I am the baby and I had 2 moms and 2 dads! Everybody were focused on us (the children)! People could not tell who were the "Steps" and were in disbelief when we pointed out we were a blended family. Even thought we switch homes as children per their agreements, but it was a mama and daddy in each home.

You guys are so inspirational! My ex remarried and his wife treats my 3 grown daughters like crap; my kids were teenagers when they got together, now two of them are married and have kids of their own. The step mom is invited to all family functions, but never shows. You guys are so fortunate to have that relationship!

My husband and I have a blended family. He had two boys and I had a girl. We never had a step family. It was our family and there was love. My daughter has always wanted a brother and she got two my sons were excited to have a sister they didn’t have any. They are grown now and have given us beautiful grandkids and great-grandkids. I love my family!

What a great family, the love and respect shines thru. Had to laugh about the cheese doodles, omg I went thru the same thing with my kids that are half siblings!! When they would split a piece of candy, I would say the other child got to pick the piece from the one holding it. Trust me they was always the same size then lol

Thanks for sharing this! What's interesting is I kept thinking Ms. Donna reminds me of my Step-Mother. I am a product of the blended family and I can totally relate to what the kids were saying. The thing that bothered me the most was separation from my Mom to go to Dad's house and then separation from Dad going back to Mom. Other than that, it wasn't a really bad experience but the best thing was when the grandchildren came!!!!! We all have family gatherings and My Mom and Step-Mom call each other sister and My Step-Dad and real Dad get along and watch sports together!!!! I am truly blessed!

I know a lot of blended family that really need to learn the things you all discussed. So many people are so angry and selfish that they don't try to accept each other.
